I love that you always call Hayley when you're scared as if she can do anything about it🤣
I just realized that this episode explains Hange's weird approach to Sawney and Bean, she gave them names and tried to talk to them like people to try and get a response, also she's a bit crazy
omg, that actually makes so much sense, i didn't even realise it!!
04:02 just in case of you guys don't remember that guy who sniffed and found the titan by it's smell, he was in the forest of giant trees and also felt the smell of multiple sources(titans), when the female titan was about to get eaten by those titans. His name is Miche
Yeah Miche is awesome
was* :( @@Smoochybear17
It's so funny to me that Ilse keeps writing in her notebook AS she's being eaten!
It's like Monty Python "The grail is in the castle of AAAAAARRRRGGHHH!!!" "He must've died while writing it..."
"Perhaps he was dictating it"
Ymir, in the nordic mythology, was a giant that Odin and his brother killed and with his body they created this planet.
Their theories are absolutely amazing to listen to! They really pay close attention to detail.
Yet they think they are stupid 😂
OVA = 'Original Video Animation.' They're like specials which add some extra lore.
Actually, it means it was made for home video release rather than for TV broadcast.
So, some OVAs are bonus content for the DVD release, but there are also shows that are fully released as OVA.
(basically the same as the English term "direct-to-video")
This one is from the actual manga
@@whade62000você e o comentário original estão certos.🤷♂️
@@whade62000 thank u lore master

This is easily the best aot reaction I’ve seen on yt. They’re not just watching the episodes they are actually paying attention and making solid theories about the lore, which I love
To me they’re a really good balance of the emotional reactions of lm reactions and the crazy thoughtful almost prophetic theory discussions of autosave
You guys are fantastic reactors..catching on like every single detail
Watching reactors watching AOT is so nostalgic for me, The season 1 was released when i was only 9 years old and my brother already let me watched it!🤣 Thankfully i didnt got traumatized by it.
I love that you guys are watching the OVA´s after the first season, just like i did after waiting years for season 2 :D
Lmao, why are you so mad? This episode released in between season 1 and 2 so why would it not be watched.@sroth2021
"I genuinely could watch this all night long and not stopping" --> exactly after finishing Season 1 I deliberately spare the weekends to binge watch AOT just because I can't stand my frustration not knowing anything and later regret it because the show still on going and my mind went blank overflew by the information 🤣🤣
i love when they say "oh this may sound dumb" before nailing a plot twist of the anime on the first try lmaoo
You know how people always hype up shows by saying "Oh you think this is crazy? This is nothing, there's way crazier stuff coming." Then you watch the rest of the show with built-up expectations but the "crazier stuff" never lives up to the hype. Well, believe me when I tell you - This. Is. Nothing.
True, but this is a pretty incredibly massive revelation from which you can base a lot of thinking!
Out of all the OVAs, I feel like this one could've, and in my opinion, should've fit in amongst the first season's official episodes since its content provides more credence in the possibility of titans being more than man-eating creatures.
Yea absolutely but I think it would have confirmed
Spoiler alert :
That titans are actually humans turned against their will and would have destroyed the s2’s mystery of Connie’s village
@@AM17titan Spoiler Alert:
I prefer to think of it as planting the seeds for what’s to come. It’s worth pointing out Hange’s reaction to hearing “Ymir” when the Shinganshina trio are explaining to her how they know Krista, a name Hange only knows based on Ilse’s journal entry. While the anime’s second season doesn’t go into the specific connections between titans and humans, the manga has Hange explain to Pixis, Levi, and Erwin about how the theory that titans are humans, while shocking and unbelievable from their point of view, does have some logic based on the titans anatomy and the coincidental appearance of the titans in Wall Rose and the disappearance of the Ragako villagers, and possibly the titan Ilse documented in her journal.
@@theassortedhobbyist yea but the beast titan for example
Like we didn’t knew any titan could talk
Tbh I would like to see this ova specifically after s2 or even after the whole story
after we found out why the titan specifically KEPT ilse inside the tree
Now we know that founder ymir got her powers when she went INSIDE the tree
And that religious person who became that titan (which ate ilse’s head) maybe believed that ymir came from inside the tree itself as you know for eldians she was a god basically
@@AM17titan if you watch it after the whole thing it just becomes a superfluous extra backstory episode about freckled Ymir and her worshippers. If you watch it in the right order when you know nothing about the true state of the world it becomes a chilling episode that throws more questions in the theorizing part of our brains
@@marocainforlife so what you are saying it’s better to watch this episode after ep2? Because in ep3 I think we find out what happened to Connie’s village
But again I guess jumping from ep2 of s2 to a backstory episode is kind of taking a step back because you want to know what will happen in ep3
It can be seen after ep2 of s2 OR after the whole story is ended
But it should not be seen before s2 ep1
I believe
Because now you already know that titan from Connie’s village is his mom and is a human
For me these ova’s are just a plus side to the story so I watched it like that after the whole story is done
I kinda could see and just appreciate what isayama was cooking back in the ova which was released years before the final episode
And how much was already planned before hand
Damn, the moment the titan said "subjects of Ymir", the coordinate theme started playing in my head
Attack on Titan was inspired from norse mythology, you will find many references as the story progress especially within the lore.
Norse mythology is used mostly in superficial ways. For actual philosophy and story of the show there are other religions/cultures that are far more important inspirations for AoT. It's actually possible to realize it just by reading the title of the first episode of the first season.
Woa, rare to see someone to react this ova. Now im grateful
I am both surprised and very glad to see you guys taking it serious and watching it in the watch order. Bravo!
The titan that spoke started hitting his head on the trees because the scout member girl who the titan thought was Lady Ymir told him to "die".
13:59 Yeah, good catch, it is a reference to that. Obviously here there are no norse gods, but I think they did pick the name as a reference to that.
It is noticeable that this show has many aspects that are influenced by european culture and history. The architecture of the cities in the show is pretty european, and many names also sound european (particularly german). There are also some intro songs in the show that use languages other than japanese, specifically german and english.
love yall, so glad yall reacted to this
14:09 yeah, Ymir is a god from norse mythology. More specifically the ancestor of all giants, and the one from whose body the earth was made.
damn you just spoiled the whole show 🤭
@@multechpro7151 more like... you did.👏👏👏
"I could watch this all night long" 😂
Been there
Oooh awesome, you both are watching the proper way, seeing this OVA before the second season, like the manga volumes gave us this story first.
Yay ty for watching

such a good mystery 😍,cant help but appreciate the show
Right! This could be a movie!
@@torinkyifh5085 Director of It will take the task
I never clicked so fast 😂😂
These two are so very perceptive, its scary sometimes.
I'm watching the reactions backwards rn, but in S2 when Yimir was talking about a "never ending nightmare" she's basically describing how it feels to be a mindless titan roaming the lands trapped in a flesh prison
Great reaction 💪💪💪
Keep like this and get ready to fall in love with this masterpiece even more
I'm excited 😉😉😉
Great reaction! Hope you enjoy the OVAs - they kinda seem like deleted scenes that provide additional insight into a character's motivations and background.
Btw, its Oh-Vee-Ayes [OVAs]. Like FBI or CIA, not like SCUBA. OVA is an acronym, not an anacronym. Nothin serious, but food for thought.
Cheers,
EJ
This episode and the Mikasa OVA will make so much more sense once you finish the show.
People should stop reccommending Ilse's Notebook before Beast Titan.. If it was me, I would have been more shocked when Beast Titan started talking and shit but watching Ilse's notebook first somehow decrease the shock factor.
I agree. But 2×1 is creepy enough already with the close-ups of the Beast Titan. Knowing it can talk doesn't take much value from the episode for me.
it came out before 2x1, so they should watch it before 2x1. That simple. They should watch it the way it's intended to be watched, not to get a "better" reaction in an artificial manner
Ilse’s Notebook came out 4 years before Beast Titan (and it’s even listed as episode 3.5 of the show), and tbh this OVA did not take away any of the shock factor of The Beast Titan speaking for me. Especially since the Titan in this episode is largely unintelligent while The Beast Titan is seemingly very intelligent and even commands the other titans. Either way, you still get the shock factor from this new possibility of titans talking no matter which episode you see first.
@@Lorenzo_Talpinum no, extras should be watched after
@@ludvig7473 except that it's not an extra, it's a very important episode. And it goes without saying that it should be watched in release order. How can this even be argued? It's even listed as episode 3.5 of the show. If you really want to make up a different watch order, at most you make people watch this after episode three
the intresting thing about this show that, we crave for knowing what's going on, but once we do, it's not fun anymore, that's the power of mystery
Love you guys! Best reactions ever
Highly Recommended! : OVA No Regrets part 1 & 2
*The other OVA is optional
My Recommend if you like comedy : Attack on Titan in 9 Minute
lol but up to you guys. ILY Haylee 😘
but it has spoilers right?

Many manga readers forgot about this early chapter when they were reading the chapters corresponding to S2🙂
OVAとはOriginal Video Animationの事です。
テレビ放送や映画公開せずに販売目的で制作されたアニメです。
当初はビデオテープで、1983年12月に世界初のOVA作品の「ダロス」が発売されました。
しかし、この映像は正確には…
OAD = Original Anime DVD
なのですが…意味は同じです
Ilses notebook before 2x1 completely kills all the tension and shock of the reveal in the episode 😢 dunno why so many watch this first
Ilse's Notebook came before the Beast Titan, both in the manga and in the anime.
Me who watched all the OVA's after s1😂
when I started watching AOT it was new years eve. I did not go anywhere to party, had no mood for it. Over that night I have watched all first season 😆. So when you say "I could watch this all night" I understand you😁
As someone who watched AoT on Hulu, I did not know this episode existed!
i like when people watch this episode before season 2. the shock factor is way better.
Kiss you are the goattttttttttttt at your theories omggg
Becareful with comments like this. This could be seen as unintentional spoiler.
You should watch the parody "Attack on titan in 9 minutes" by Gigguk if you haven't already. It has become a tradition for people to react to it after they finish season 1.
no
yes
maybe
Glad y'all watched the OVAs
Really enjoyed this reaction video 😀😀
El mejor show de todos los tiempos
yo fellow old Conan Exiles player let's goooo
Damn this MWF uploads are killing me T_T Excited for the next episodes!
Holy shit, these theories are scarily accurate
So excited for what is to come!
2:59 accent ❤
Which iirc Petra insulted
And then also insulted when he changed it bc it was a Levi imitation
3:43 oh you missed his S1 contribution
6:23
10:34 accidentally activated the prey response, people say. Hence the closeup on the running legs (11:18 YOOO YES)
10:46 not sharp
If you guys feel up to it after season 2 theres a parody-spin off series called attack on titan: junior high ;)
It scares me how she seems to know what will happen.
She is already in s4
I just can't. It's truly insane how in every episode they have a hint about the story.
If they keep going like that, one day at the end of the show, when they gather all their comments from previous reactions, they would see that they simply had predicted absolutely EVERYTHING.
Remember this episode. There's actually a big "Chekhov gun" here.
13:59 I think the show is based around what some believe to be Germanic culture or something. Ymir being of Norse mythology makes sense, as Scandanavian/Nordic people are considered Germanic in some way.
Kiss is too smart for this show counter: 4
You girls can safely watch all the OVA's now that you finished season 1. I really like Levi's OVA myself. That being said, the Sean's and Sasha's OVA is kind of a break from the seriousness of the show but fun and heart warming.
P.S. 14:02 - I played Conan Exiles too!! OMG UR JUST LIKE ME....😂. Interesting take though.
lol no. they cant watch the last 3 ovas until they finish season 2 and 3
@@Garstoxxz Are you taking about the Lost Girls OVA's?
Update: Okay, I just remembered the Annie one does have plot spoilers. Don't remember if the Mikasa one has it too but you're probably right. They should put those 3 aside until the end of season 3.
The levi ovas are what really got me hooked
As Commander Erwin said: "Who do you think the real enemy is?"
Hey love the content, just binged you guys reacting to the first season. It was awesome!
One quick question, where are you watching the episodes? The subtitles are definitely wrong for some things. A lot of names are incorrect, and a lot of what is being said doesn’t seem to match up with other versions I’ve seen. Not really a huge deal I guess, just curious.
Pretty sure it’s Crunchyroll, it added all the OVAs (or at least some of them) years ago. I don’t really see what’s wrong with this ep’s sub tho, they seem accurate enough.
The Crunchyroll subs from S1 are kind of bad, but imo the real problem is that they’re still using the TV version for S1 instead of the BD version. It’s not much of an issue for later seasons but S1 has unfinished animation, especially in ep 13.
What do you think about translating “yokuzo” into “ welcome” in this OVA?
These girls are smartttt
First! 24 seconds after the upload! :D

Attack on Titan in 9 minutes. You will love it.
Faster watch season 2 , i can’t wait to see reaction both of you hehe

Besides FullMetal alchemsit brotherhood & Death note AOT has some of the best lore in anime for me & it’s a mystery anime lol
I really hope they do an anime for the spin-off "Before the fall" the story is great IMHO and it's an interesting prequel
I hope we get to see the other ovas, most channels only react to this one
You're so smart!
These two are great
You guys have to watch attack on titan NO REGRETS part 1 & 2. Before season 2
where to watch in OVA i tried searching but couldnt find
can you please tell where to watch AOT OVAs i can't find most of them
I'm sure you guys have already been recommended this, but definitely should check out Frieren. I would love to see your reactions to this anime.
13:03 fin.
Who else like me didnt know this 'llse Notebook' thing *EXISTED*✨
I think I also got to know about it and the other OVAs through reactions, but it was years back, before season 4 was even announced.
@@emmanuel1337I dont now if its any good

Day 3 of begging Haylo & Kiss to react to Gigguks Attack on Titan in 9 mins ....PLSSSS PRETTYY PLSSS!!!!
More please. 👏🏻
10:57 done, predicted the whole story. let's go home
After you finish season 3 rewatch this, it all will make sense
Halo one striking comment…. These two are as attentive as ever
That bonde is not natural she too smart
JJK Next Pls❤❤❤
Don't read if you wanna stay pure tho it's not a spoiler, just trivia: in norse mythology is the primordial deity, an ice giant and the father of all other giants (jötnar). He lives in the primordial icy void, Ginnungagap, and has a cow that sustains him with milk. The cow licks salt from the ice into the shape of a person, Búri, the first god. Búri has grandchildren, Odin (the chief god) and his two brothers, who slay Ymir and create the world from his dead body.
Just to clear it up, “Hange” is pronounced “Han” (like Han Solo) - “Ji”
This OVA adds lore to the story, as it is from the actual manga. There's one more called "No Regrets" that is Levi's backstory, but those are the only important OVas. The rest are silly, baseless fanservice. You can watch them if you want, but they're not canon and ultimately just filler.
Yall are smart af! Subjects of Ymir?.. 🤨🤔✌️
15:17 Han-jee, not Han-gey.
U should look into Terms of Ymir, Titans, Tree? from Norse mythology. There is similaritie with the lore of aot
you should also react to No Regrets OVA, about Levi`s backstory
*The way they think is scary.*
I've always like this story but hated the way it was presented. The implausibility of "just keep writing" always broke my suspension of disbelief.
Now u need to watch levi ova
When are you guys gonna react to Spy x Family anime?
