In the late 90s they were seen at countless car shows, and might has well have been the official Domino's Pizza delivery car. Del Sol is a bit of a letdown as a successor, but kinda cool and weird in it's own way. Why no mention of the CR-Z? That car was basically the modern CRX, though a bit of a strange engine choice. They made the HPD version and the Super GT racecar which are both really cool. I own a CR-Z and I've won autocross events with it (beating Focus RS's and Miatas), it's significantly underrated.

It's a sh*tbox that you should always be concerned about when it pulls up. Does it have 110HP or 700HP. You never know.

Those new Honda Turbo V-TEC engines are pretty stellar though. Such smooth power delivery. Kind of like the old NSX. (:
I’m honored to own the original Mugen GT-4 CRX seen in this video (not the replica). We take it to historic races on occasion. It’s a crowd favorite.

I bought a brand new CRX Si back in 1990, it was one of the best cars I ever owned. It was such a fast and fun car to drive. $12,200 out the door. Had it up to 128 mph.
No wonder 1991 was the last year the car was made in Japan. You made it by one year.

I remember there was a young couple living for like 2-3 weeks in our village in the neighbourhood, they were on vacation. They had a red CRX, and since ive seen that car as a little kid i love it and always found it so badass. Compact, sporty, amazing curves and lamps, it just looked stunning. 90's car designs are my favorites forever.

Ahhhh.... that explains it (not really, it was probably because emissions standards). After swapping a ZC into a Civic HB, I was VERY upset that Honda never offered that engine in the CRX in the US. That was easily one of Honda's best engines, definitely the best before the B series came along. Edit: *DOHC ZC.

When you really geek out on nearly any car, its actually cool in some way. Even the most boring dull car actually has an interesting back story.
I had an 87 and a 91... absolutely loved them both! Flying up and down windy mountain roads was the best in them.
As the owner of a '91 CRX I have to say you did not do a good job of informing people about the simple everyday goodness of the car. But you did tell me some history I didn't know, so thanks for that.

1 year ago I wasn't even a car guy. Now I own an old beat up swift 2004 and keep getting my hands dirty every weekend. I blame you James for lighting this true and deep love for all cars big and small. You and Nolan turned me to a proper petrolhead that spent all my savings on parts and making my little swift great again. Thank you. You guys truly changed my life.

I had an '87 DX in the late 90's/early 2ks. To this day, my favorite car that I have EVER driven. I loved that car. Like, I weep softly when I think of it. Not fast, but SPORTY!! and NEVER, in over 120,000 miles ,not one time EVER did she act like she didn't wanna go wherever I did. Not even a dead battery. But she had those old Honda in the desert rubber problems, and those torsion bars... I sold her in a moment of weakness and frustration, once I didn't need her anymore, and I've just hated that I did that ever since.

The CR-X, was and is still one of the greatest Honda cars of the early V-TEC days. I lusted for one for a while but alas the Civic Sedans and Hatchback did just fine. (:
I was so fortunate to have owned 2 CRX's, one from each gen. The 1985 was so much fun to drive, but the 89 was my all-time favorite. Till this day i still think back at my days in it. Great to see the CRX getting some spotlight.

My first car was an '85 CRX HF and I still have a soft spot in my heart for it, watching this made me want another one!
The 89 CRX SI was my first car loved it. I still remember shocking all kinds of muscle cars with it.

When I was a kid, my mom bought a CRX used. She drove the wheels off of it and she liked it so much, she traded it in on a new one. Later on she gave me that car. I remember the first time I drove it I thought "Oh, I see why she loved this thing!" So much fun to drive and super cheap on gas.

I bought a CRX 1.5 new in 1984 and it was a blast! I drove it in a "spirited manner" around town and still got 30 MPG! Really fun car!

Ive owned both as well and i guess it comes down to what your intentions with it. Just to daily go crx. Drift or drag ae86. Autox its a toss up personally i loved my 86 but my 87crx si was my unicorn it was a cali car rust free i bought for $800 and the fenders and facia was still intact and unbroken

I used to be a huge Honda fan. Had many Honda vehicles, cars, bikes. Till 07 when they screwed Nicky Hayden RIP. Sold the Rc51 the prelude the s2k only kept the NSX ( first gen) mainly cause of senna and because it’s a NSX! Never will I ever go back to Honda

First time on your channel. Great video. My friend had a 1st gen civic Si round about ‘88. I was a teenager and it was super cool to me with the high revving engine and low seat position. Output 100bhp (euro spec) and it flew for its time.

This car is a riot to drive! I have a modified 1991 1.6 VTEC version as based in UK and wow what a car. Reliable, fun and handles great. Makes decent power for such a small engine.
In Europe we also had the V-tec version of the Honda CR-X I think it's because they didn't have to change that much for regulation requirements that the U.S. expects.
In Europe (and Holland for me) we got a lot of great cars from Japan. I can now say we were doing great then 😀👍
