Speed Me Up feels like a song you'd hear on the radio that fades with time. Gotta Go Fast feels like a Sonic theme in a new game and it is criminal that I can't listen to this on Spotify!
My guess is that after the disagreement from fans using a rap/hiphop song I.E. gangsters paradise in the first trailer, using any form of rap in the sonic movie might not be the best call. This song is good for the sonic movie with the green hill reference and the lyrics.
This is not a Sonic song by any means. Sonic games has used a huge variety of genres before, but this is too far. This only has green hill going for it, the rest could be a generic song by any other composer without any relation to the sonic movie.

If I were forced to watch Sonic X, I'd pray to the gods above that the Japanese version played. The 4Kids version will remain forever bad, and I shall dub it as one of the worst English-Dub TV shows in the history *of ever.* It rivals that of Yu-Gi-Oh - and that had *at least some* hope from me going on.

This song does get me more hyped than speed me up, but listening to lyrics I can see why they chose speed me up over this. Now that I've heard the whole version. Which doesn't mean its bad it's still a really good song. Speed me up seems to actually highlight the character more within the lyrics.

Not only is the whole beat a whole reference to sonic, but he pretty much uses the same amount of references, even sonics catchphrase. I dunno could have been either or though, most likely just because the song they chose was more marketable with bigger names. Maybe would've been cool if one was for the intro and other for the credits.

I believe if Paramount knew about the rights of Nakamura’s music earlier and had enough time to go into negotiations, this would be in. That being said, the combination of success of the first movie and being aware of the legal issues earlier gives me hope this could be in the sequel

Like this waaayyy better to be honest. Nothing against speed me up, wiz and yachtys parts were good but imo it just didn't do it for me after that. Edit: going back i only liked the second half of yachtys part. This however kept me hyped the whole time, not to mention that AMAZING beat. "Catching flights not catching feelings" reminded me of catching villains haha

For those askin' why this went unused in the Sonic Movie, the reason it was scrapped is possibly that it takes cues from Green Hill Zone, a song that is owned by Masato Nakamura, since Sega doesn't fully own the song. 😐
@@chaoschannel3428 That's because that bit is from the film's soundtrack. And Masato Nakamura is credited in the film much like he was in Mania. It's possible the folks at Sega and Paramount preferred to not use this because it's a single that could potentially be on the radio and the like, and there's a big chance Nakamura would want royalties from that whole thing because the song is heavily based on his work.
It's so interesting to me how Paramount Sonic 1 has so much development history and so much of it is public knowledge, like you KNOW that shitty illumination Mario movie is going to remain ultra under-wraps like the rest of nintendo's projects

I think the main reason of this being unused is the use of green hill's melody, which I think paramount was avoiding. SEGA themselves doesn't own the music, that would mean paramount don't have the rights to use it as well. oh and before you say anything about the movie using greenhills at the end, that was only a slight nod to GHZ, this song uses the melody of GHZ and stretches it to nearly 3 min this song bops tho

This song is way to slow, just a greenhill slowed rap remix, the lyrics might be closer to sonic but speed me ups its way more catchy and has the right tempo, not saying it sounds bad but I like speed me up more and im not even into rap or care about the lyrics but it flows really well with the tune, speed me up make me feel the 90s vibe of sonic again, its a big homage to the game ost, you should listen to the instrumental really.

Speed Me Up isn’t a bad song, however, seeing that this one didn’t get picked is kind of upsetting. It’s lyrics and slightly more upbeat rhythm compared to Speed Me Up feels more like an actual sonic song than the latter.

@@playboirisky7054 It's not the case where they don't fully own it, they just don't own the track at all. Masato Nakamura owns the track. Still, it doesn't stop the from using the most iconic piece of music and paying the licensing fee to Dreams Come True when using the track.

Unfortunately I don't think this will be used in any official sonic stuff, but it still baffles me to this day they picked "speed me up" over this. "Speed me up" is honestly trash in my opinion and this is a banger. I go back to youtube to listen to this song sometimes and everytime I jam out.

I believe if Paramount knew about the rights of Nakamura’s music earlier and had enough time to go into negotiations, this would be in. That being said, the combination of success of the first movie and being aware of the legal issues earlier gives me hope this could be in the sequel

Like this waaayyy better to be honest. Nothing against speed me up, wiz and yachtys parts were good but imo it just didn't do it for me after that.
Edit: going back i only liked the second half of yachtys part.

For those askin' why this went unused in the Sonic Movie, the reason it was scrapped is possibly that it takes cues from Green Hill Zone, a song that is owned by Masato Nakamura, since Sega doesn't fully own the song. 😐
They used Green Hill in the redesign trailer though.

It's possible the folks at Sega and Paramount preferred to not use this because it's a single that could potentially be on the radio and the like, and there's a big chance Nakamura would want royalties from that whole thing because the song is heavily based on his work.

I think the main reason of this being unused is the use of green hill's melody, which I think paramount was avoiding. SEGA themselves doesn't own the music, that would mean paramount don't have the rights to use it as well. oh and before you say anything about the movie using greenhills at the end, that was only a slight nod to GHZ, this song uses the melody of GHZ and stretches it to nearly 3 min

This song is way to slow, just a greenhill slowed rap remix, the lyrics might be closer to sonic but speed me ups its way more catchy and has the right tempo, not saying it sounds bad but I like speed me up more and im not even into rap or care about the lyrics but it flows really well with the tune, speed me up make me feel the 90s vibe of sonic again, its a big homage to the game ost, you should listen to the instrumental really.
