      @BanksyOz 2 года назад +1

      @@DW-rs1pr fine decision? He has made very gutsy selections that paid off and his coaching methods 'proved' to be a working formula. If it's club cricket I understand players morale is more important, but this is an international cricket team that have been dominating under Langers guidance. Some of the best teachers, fathers and coaches have proved they don't need to be your best friend to achieve greatness. They didn't just win the Ashes or 20/20 world cup, they dominated. Facts over feelings when playing at that level. When the going gets tough they shouldn't just push them out the door instead of learning how to deal with it. Short term it suits the players of course. I believe in many years to come they will look back on this and they will wonder why they didn't manage this better. The players I'm referring to. If you're at a fantastic school but don't like the teachers do you up and leave to another school. Well you shouldn't because they should be learning how to adapt and manage it themselves. We aren't talking about a Tyrant here. He is a coach of the Aussie team and was stabbed in the back by his own team mates and I think it was only a handful that have manipulated the others into thinking the same. The people surrounding JL don't have a bad word to say about him and his cricketing mind is second to none. Sorry to go on but they shouldn't be fixing something that's not broken. All in all I hope this is all forgotten and the team continues their winning ways.

    As an Aussie and love my cricket I think it was putrid the way CA have gone about this and in particularly Pat Cummins. Couldn't care how good this bloke is on the field the way he has gone about this is an embarrassment. He says he has respect for JL but his actions displayed no respect whatsoever. You don't need to love the bloke to have success and ultimately JL was flawless whilst in the job. Exceeded all expectations and whatever he was doing clearly worked. He would have and did support all of his players and should have received the same from the newly appointed captain. Let's not forget what JL had walked into when first taking the job. It was a mess and look at where the team is now. That's not Patty's doing. I was literally posting Patty for PM during the Ashes series but the way he has treated an absolute legend of Australian cricket is something to be ashamed of. If this interview doesn't give us all an indication of what type of bloke Patty is then I'm not sure what will. All I see is an arrogant pos who thought Langer had no bearing on the sides success and if anything was dead weight so to speak. Should never be fixing something thats not broken as the old saying goes. Patty would want to hope he doesn't make anymore embarrassing and foolish decisions in the near future because I'm sure it could come back to bite him in the ass. I truly hope the team is successful and JL moves on to bigger and better things as he definitely deserves more accolades and the Australian public know that. Let's now watch him rebuild the English side and hand it to us next Ashes. Patty will be eating his words then.

    • @BanksyOz
      @BanksyOz 2 года назад

      @Stuart Russell exactly and understandably if this is club cricket but at international level the only factor that should be considered is 'are they going to be successful' and Langer more than proved that he is not only a capable coach but a fantastic one at that. All coaches have a different approach to their game. When I was younger and playing rep cricket my coach was hard but ultimately he got the best out of me and in that season I learnt more than I did any other year. We were successful I might add and winning games certainly makes it all worth while. To actually see this happen at an international level and let alone with Australia is astounding. It was very evident that Langer got the best out of them. Looking at the debutants in the Ashes says it all. I'm still shocked at the decision tbh but I suppose we will see what happens in the not to distant future in whether or not it was a terrible decision

    • @BanksyOz
      @BanksyOz 2 года назад

      @Stuart Russell oh that's really cool. I didn't know of Herb Brooks but it sounds as though it was a similar style of coaching/mentoring. Ideally (from a players perspective) it wouldn't be what you would choose if they had an option but the proof is in the pudding and it wasn't just the results that were fantastic in recent times from the Australian cricket team, but in the manner they did it. The selecting from JL (which we know is an integral part of the job) was just brilliant. Another example would be in parents. Some fathers are tough on their kids and the kid's would favour their mother. They still love their father of course but if given an option would always tend to lean to their mother. When the child becomes an adult it's then they realise how much they appreciate their fathers way of upbringing. It shapes them into the adult they become and more than likely become successful and very likeable and also respectful. Being a coach of such a high performing team wouldn't be easy especially with the personalities in this particular side. Thankyou for educating me on the miracle on ice and its a very good comparison. I will be sure to look more into it. I really hope JL picks himself up and makes CA regret their decision to take the soft feelings of the players over a proven recipe for success.

      On point 1, Australia was doing pretty badly until before the T20 WC. And that was when the player's issues with JL came out in the media. Aus's performances in the T20 WC and in the Ashes have happened in a period where JL has deliberately taken a step back and been more laidback. On Point 3, past cricketers don't know the dynamics of the dressing room. They speak out of emotion and not out of actually knowledge of the various things actually happening. On point 5, you just have to look back at what I said over point 1 again. JL deliberately took a step back from his regular coaching style. The end of the honeymoon period. Cummins comes out with a smile to talk about Langer's departure. Now that he's got rid of Langer the focus is on him. Not impressed.

    I feel as though we finally have a team that Australia can be proud of. The old guard can't stomach that. Time to move on. Well done Pat, u are our captain.

    Cricket Australia should have backed Justin Langer till the 50 overs world cup it's a shame when you have a winning coach why you need a change coaches make star players it's not players who should select their coaches

    i think if you keep on saying "we have respect for JL" but then your only reasoning for kicking him off if you want someone more calm, just sounds like snowflake behaviour, just say the truth and dont avoid responsibility on it all

    So Cummins went around the team stirring up trouble in order to bring attention to himself and get the captaincy. Then gets rid of the coach who he's been causing trouble for. He no longer looks such a great leader. If CA let him have the final say on who the new coach is - it can only mean big trouble down the line.

    This new Aussie team is forging it's own path. JL leaving is a necessary part of that. They can't be weighed down anymore by the expectations of the old guard to whom nothing is good enough.
