this is how you learn how to produce. not ableton and massive. i grew up playing with synths my whole life and this is the way to do it man keep it up bro, this is how electronic music was meant to be played
+moopisgreat Sorry but this viewpoint is ridiculous. Production is nothing more than guiding the song in a direction a track should sound like, including the mixing and mastering process. Electronic music is tech music, and tech is always evolving. Electronic music can't be confined to such simple boundaries, but if you feel more comfortable with a synth, that's one perspective.
i guess ableton will not sound like a real anolog Synth or a drum machine like a tr 909 ir 808, also adjust buttons and controls on a synth is better than a computer mouse on ableton
Man i just recommend this to someone to see how kaossilator works and couldn't not watch it, what a fuckin banger of a track for all these years. Love your work man!!
The Kaossilator works with this record-loopsystem: You hit one of the Buttons below and it automatically starts recording what you play on the pad. But the Kaossilator is also able to record extern signals like here from the Microkorg(you can use here everything from an MP3-Player to a Electric Guitar or a Microphone and loop it.
I started playing the keyboard one year ago and I mostly work with the scales (like the Blues- scale) on the microkorg to create melodies. For the chords you gone need some time it´s like with the guitar, your fingers have to become accustomed to the positions. But I think you can start playing your own songs after 1-2 months.
The "Tetris Synthesizer" is a Korg Kaossilator Pro, It´s like a Keyboard but with a touchpad instant of keys. It has also the function to record and loop it´s own or external sound on his 4 Banks.
Oh man thanks for your quick reply! I will check it out! I think i will need a Macbook for the sequence as well. MicroKorg + Sampler + Macbook :) thanks again :)
Well done! Just getting started with synths and electronic instruments, and this video def inspired me! Love how you make that synth sing with the mod wheel :)
Yes, I think it´s possible, you can chose between 7 diffrent Organ sounds from the Oscillator and change tham just like you want. I don´t know exactly what a rock-organ should sound like, but for example with the distortion effect it sounds like you could play with it in rocksongs.
I got mine from a music-internet site(never seen one in a local shop) you gone need one with an USB on the one side and 2 Midis (In and Out) on the other. And I can tell you they are awesome like for controlling computer-instruments with your touchpad.
No, the microkorg is a synthesizer, you have 128 preset sounds which you can manipulate or change to own sounds. watch some synthesizer videos and see if you are interested in these kinds of instruments, because it´s also sometimes a little work to adjust the parameters.
I only syncroned the clock(BPM). For doing this use a midi-cable from the Midi-out of your Kaossilator into the Midi-in of your Microkorg. Now select on the Kaossilator the Midi-options with SHIFT+4(Midi) enter FiLt with the Programmbutton, again the CLOC and set it to Auto and confirm it with WRITE. All the other Funktions(Pro9, CC, notE, SYSE) must be set on "diS"(=off). Now chose on your microkorg Midi+3Knob also on "auto" Your microkorg has now the same Bpm-speed like the Kaossilator.
@laetliwest Tipp: use the right scale. Check which keys correspond the scale you chose on your Kaossilator(on the manual book p.99). Now play random lines with only those few keys and it sounds correct. Hope it will help...
It´s a special technik where you only use the black keys for the melodies because they match and sound really nice togehter. You can also play with the other keys, but you have to use a scale.
The Kaossilator Pro, because here you have Drums and the Loopfunction and it´s easy to play with the scales. And you could record every instrument you want (directly or with a microphone) so you can buy a synthesizer later if you want. I don´t recoment to start with te microkorg because it´s frustrating to play only some melodies.
I started with a Keyboard and some songs I can´t play on the microkorg not only because of the 3 octaves keyboard but also the 4xPolyphony is a problem because you can´t use more than 4 keys at the same time and if you hit the wrong key at a chord, it deletes an other note. Here´s the Microkorg XL better with 8xpolyphony. If you want to play "real" piano songs, than buy a Keyboard but if it should be more elecronic music with experimenting than take the microkorg.
I don´t know what a DAW is but if you can play the drums and have the possibility to record everything, than buy the Microkorg because its so much fun to experiment with the sounds. If you can play the piano than I recoment the Microkorg XL here you also have realistic instruments an 8XPoliphone Sound. The Kaossilator Pro is better for live performance but you haven´t the possibility to play real chords.
I don´t have any experience with samplers but here you need a Groovebox like the Akai MPC 500(the cheapest one I could find). Here you can record your sounds directly in to it or edit them on the computer an put them than on the Groovebox. Also with this Akai MPC 500 you´r capable to create complete songs. And you need a microphone.
no, you don´t need any software but it exist a program for the microkorg for organizations for the sounds, but I have no Idea what you can do exactly with it because you will need one of these midi-to-USB-Cables.
I've got the same set up as you and i love it. I just have to be really cautious of repetition. You seem to have no problem with that though nice job! Def. a good Korg jam
When you play using only the black keys you are playing in the key of E flat minor/ F sharp major whereas if you play using only white keys you are playing in the key of A minor/ C major, so it works the same way.
thanks. I don´t think that the microkorg would be a good expansion to a DJ-Set, but here I could recomand you the Kaossilator Pro with it´s Specialeffect programms. And I record my tracks from the Phoneoutput directly into my cameramicrophoneimput.
Hey. I actually have a microkorg and a kaoss but i can't synch them together and i'd rather like you're help because i want to loop my microkorg as you do in your video.. I still can't do it.. Can you help me ? thanks !
+MrKameton Yes, I think so. Normally it should also be better for this kind of music. Because the original Microkorg is more for classic synth sounds and the Microkorg xl also has synth sounds but is more in the direction of real instruments.
Hey dude, I own an origional Microkorg and am buying a Kaossilator pro and would like to know what wires I am going to need to get to connect the two devices like this. What wires do I need and what do I do with them?
Very cool! I love this song you made. I've listened to it many times. I've always loved that mushroom sticker you have on the Microkorg.
this is how you learn how to produce.
not ableton and massive.
i grew up playing with synths my whole life and this is the way to do it man
keep it up bro, this is how electronic music was meant to be played
Why is using ableton not a good way to learn how to produce? Because it's too easy? I've heard people say that about it.
+moopisgreat Sorry but this viewpoint is ridiculous. Production is nothing more than guiding the song in a direction a track should sound like, including the mixing and mastering process. Man i just recommend this to someone to see how kaossilator works and couldn't not watch it, what a fuckin banger of a track for all these years. Love your work man!!

love this.
yes exactly, the Kaossilator records the microkorg and the BPM-Speed is controlled via Midi from the Kaossilator to the microkorg.
very cool!

wow man, i need one of this
Nice jam!
like button smashed! I did it for the Mushroom Kingdom.
Yes, the Kaossilator works with a tact system, you only have to choose the bpm speed and than every bench is syncronysed.
Awesome sticker!
Damn this is on fire

Thank you, it was very informational :) btw love the video

Big Up!
Yes, I will try it.
you inspire me
Nice!
Print it, cut it, glue it...
Grande ! I would love listen soom t singin on it ;)

It´s ended manuely by stopping the loop with the 4 banks or slowly mute it down with the pad
Kaoss pad? I only have a Kaossilator Pro but its the same thing: Audio-out of the Keyboard into the Audio-in of the Kaossilator/Kaoss-Pad.
I've got the same set up as you and i love it. I just have to be really cautious of repetition. You seem to have no problem with that though nice job! Def. a good Korg jam
buen dato
Hey that's pretty good! :D
About what? I think I will produce some videos, but what do you want to know especially?

why thumbs down, I think its cool!
Killa!
Dope dope dope
Nice jam
@sweet420ND I have upload it on soundcloud. Link in the description
nice..
yes, only the Kaossilator can record and loop sounds.
really nice man!! I would say trip hop more than reggae, sounds like "five man army" from massive attack
pentatonic scale to stronk!
Watching a lots of Videos to find out some technicks and a lots of experimenting
2:24 .. love it!!
I dont jam reggae, i dont even listen to it haha but this is siiick. Good job man!
Yes, into the microphone imput of my camera
Chill jam on the MK. I had a MK for a bit, but didn't like the simplicity of the keys with my big hands. Felt like a toy. Thoughts?
I don´t know it´s my camera witch has the problem, the leds are working right.
Can you help me ?
thanks !
I NEED HELP How can I plug in together my kaoss pro and my R3, I don't want to do it by the mic input on the kpro,
guys do you know is microkorg xl capable of making sound like in this video?
+MrKameton Yes, I think so. Normally it should also be better for this kind of music. Because the original Microkorg is more for classic synth sounds and the Microkorg xl also has synth sounds but is more in the direction of real instruments.
Hey dude, I own an origional Microkorg and am buying a Kaossilator pro and would like to know what wires I am going to need to get to connect the two devices like this. What wires do I need and what do I do with them?
Playing only black keys puts everything in Eb minor pentatonic... meaning simply that there are no wrong notes.
How do you play a Keyboard into the kaoss pad?
Haha ouais mais on a l'impression qu'il englobe tout le potard. En tout cas c'est vraiment cool ce que tu fais. J'ai vu tes autres vidéos ça envoie!
Can you get a rock organ sound? I'm considering buying one.
Hey do I need Samples for the microkorg? Because I just wanna buy 1 of these but I also have an MPC and I hate cutting out samples :D
