  • São Paulo is a Brazilian municipality, capital of the homonymous state and the main financial, corporate and mercantile center in South America. It is the most populous city in Brazil, the American continent, the Portuguese-speaking world and the entire southern hemisphere. São Paulo is the most influential Brazilian city on the global stage, being, in 2016, the 11th most globalized city on the planet, receiving the classification of global alpha city by the Globalization and World Cities Study Group & Network (GaWC). The city's motto, present on its official coat of arms, is Non ducor, duco, a Latin phrase that means "I am not led, I lead".
    In the central region, there are several cultural centers, bars, restaurants, museums, most of the tourist attractions in the city and government agencies in the municipality and the state.
    Even after 40 years, the Center still has many charms that can be seen on walking tours, such as the free ones organized by the State Department of Sport and Tourism, where São Paulo residents and visitors can discover or rediscover this region and observe how many different buildings, such as: Banco São Paulo, a building currently used by the Secretary of Tourism of the State of São Paulo; the São Paulo Stock, Commodities and Futures Exchange, where, through a screen, it is possible to observe the movement of operations; the Monastery of São Bento (São Paulo), where, on Sundays, masses are held at 10 am; the Martinelli Building, the first skyscraper in South America; a São Paulo Stock Exchange; the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center, which has meeting rooms, cinema, theater, restaurant, auditorium, bookstores, etc.
