Jason from the video here - this cabinet is my favorite piece of furniture and I really think Danie went above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined. THANK YOU
LOVE love love!!!! The 2nd poster was definitely MUCH better than the first. I have one crafty tip. You can put ModPodge down, let it dry, then iron your poster (or whatever) on top with no wrinkles! I put parchment paper on top to make sure it doesn't stick to the iron. It's like magic! Keep on DIYing :)
Oooohhhhhmygod. OMG. This is such a good tip my head's gonna fly off lmao. The bubble/wrinkle struggle I endured every time I tried a project like this with the poster...!!! I just went from "yep never doing that again" to "I can't wait to try that again" in the span of time it took me to read your comment😅
not sure if you'll see this, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this channel! so many DIY channels are so cookie cutter and follow the IG Influencer aesthetic that makes you feel like you're a failure/slob for not having everything "just so". I'm so glad I can watch your videos for lightheartedness and to see design with actual personality! (also, you made me a fan for life after the community center remodel!) In case no one has told you lately, thanks for being you and sharing your gifts!
Hi Dani, just a suggestion from a wallcovering rep, prime the wood before you add wallcovering or “posters’. When you add adhesive, the raw wood will expand and contract, leaving you with bubbles. Primer will seal the wood and make it more stable. If you still have a bubble here and there you can often release it with a pinhole. 😊
I'm pretty jealous of : 1/ Madison, whose parents kept a boxed 1999 cabinet around (the fax part was the most pre-2000s thing ever) ; 2/ Jason's collection ; 3 / That they have a bangin' DIY piece from you! 😉 I chuckled at their reaction but you can really see how they've fallen in love with this cabinet!
What an amazing job! I’m not a Zelda nerd but I’d totally have this cabinet in my home. Beautiful - and you could totally tell how much they both loved it. Bravo Dani! 👏❤️👏
To be honest, when she showed the inspiration colours…… I hated them, thought they were horrible but when she showed us the backing with thicker print… damn, I had to eat my thoughts! They turned out amazing! Just hoping you put a protective seal on the drawers so the little fellas don’t chip away with use. ❤ turned out amazing!
This was incredibly fun, I love it! (It was also fun how it's the Sheikah on the inside in the visible place and Yiga Clan on the back where nobody's going to see it unless they move it, because that's just how the Yiga Clan are, staying hidden in the shadows while everyone sees the good guys the Sheikah.)
What a cool piece! I'm not a Zelda person but I really enjoyed the thoughtful way you incorporated the Zelda theme into the MCM design style and put the little pictures up of what you were referring to. The little creatures in the drawers are so cute. I was translating everything into doing a Harry Potter cabinet and having pixies in the drawers and a Knockturn Alley cabinet vibe with an dark academia style.
I am 61 years old and I am familiar with Zelda via my 2 kids (now 36 and 32)🏹🗡️. I loved this cabinet. FANTASTIC JOB!❤ P.S. my heart broke💔 for you when you left the backing out in the rain. But as I always say "there was a reason for that".
Any true Zelda fan will cry at the site of this build. Your vision and execution shows a deep love and passion for the design and construction of the cabinet and 'Link' to the game itself.
Future: If that back poster were backed with a fabric (muslin, canvas?), it woudn't bubble w the Mod Podge. (In mid-viewing. I'll be back w compliments on finished job, I'm pretty sure). Womens + mens: Don't know Zelda, except by rep, but, that is one fun, wondrous cabinet! Beautiful of its own accord, a lovely reference to mid-century (which, ahem, I was very much alive for + participating in!). Danie: Nerds are so safe in your capable hands. (Madison tripped on the force-symbology wooden piece(s) at very first, Eyes Open; it was cool.)
Missed opportunity to have the drawers have a integrated sound effect going “ya ha ha! You found me!” 😂 but seriously amazing piece! Love everything about it! Great job!
You did an *awesome* and *incredible* job with that cabinet. I absolutely *LOVE* what you did for this *Couple* and the *PASSION* that you have for this *Project* will show for *MANY* years to come. Congratulations on a job very well done!!! ~ JonseyG 👲💖
The look on Jason's face said it all! The jaw dropping, staring at the amazement that was before him! Both were so impressed and now all their nerdy friends are going to be so jelly! Danie, you never cease to amaze me! I love the fact that you are so genuine, you make mistakes, and always have solution, and just mive forward. I really liked what you did to the shields, now door knobs; so much better antiqued. There was no mention of that cabinet, but that wasn't the focus. Jason will be surprised when he discovers the new cabinet and best of all, those way cool knobs!! You are such a creative genius!! Enjoy your day and have a fab weekend!!!
Honestly this is such an amazing piece. You definitely had all the happy accidents. And it's very fitting to have the Shika and Yiga clan symbols back to back like that. 💖
Oh my god! Thank you for inspiring my fiances Christmas present! He's a massive Zelda fan, and while I'm not, I think that turned out so well aesthetic wise that it's a big win. Maybe a thrifted china cabinet could be repurposed 😊😊
The only thing I would have changed, which is 100% personal preference and might have looked odd depending on their other furniture (not to mention easy to add later), is adding some stand-offs to the drawer pulls, so you can get your hand fully behind there. That said, it looks absolutely incredible as-is, the details make my heart very happy, and the back of the backing being "upside down" is an amusingly lore-explainable "mistake", a happy accident really. 10/10, always excited to see more of this series!
You did such a great job on this! It's fun to see your enjoyment of your projects coming back and your sparkle! And I also wanted to tell your hair is looking really good these days. I hope you are doing as well as you look and I really enjoyed this project and look forward to more!
I honestly love seeing the mistakes, and love your "well, let's figure it out!" attitude. ♥️. I have never once completed a project without messing up somewhere along the line, but always find a way to figure it out. DIY for the win! 🎉
I will say I have been enjoying this series of videos. It illustrates so many wonderful qualities people are starting to embrace more in a hyper-consumerist society: creativity, frugality in making something you already have work, and being conscientious of environmental impacts by not always buying new to meet a need.
I love everything about this cabinet and I'm not even a Zelda fan. My 40 yr old son started playing the game when it first came out.😁 All of the details you incorporated make the cabinet a work of art.
Beautiful! I’m a Zelda girl, so that would be a treasured cabinet in my home! Thank you for showing the detailed step-by-step hard work. So CREATIVE. ✨🥰
I love this so much. The only thing I would have to add would be for it to have three shelves instead of two. He’s definitely gonna be building on his collection and it has loads of room for more shelves. This is a very inspiring piece and I play way too much Tears of the Kingdom. 😂🤍
This is better than an IKEA hack. Brand new wow. I’m so glad you’re taking a break for all the garage hard work and do this episode I can’t get enough. That glue is great for small craft projects furniture not so much. I’m so stoked to see the finished piece. Is that a new table saw? If so I’m jelly
The hidden Koroks are GENIUS! I half expected to hear “yahaha” when you opened them. 😂😂 I don’t normally go for a busy backing to a display case, but I love that poster SO much. It really brings the Zelda theme together. I love both Zelda and MCM, so this cabinet speaks to my heart. It is so, so beautiful. I especially love the color palette. ❤❤
The look on his face !!!! He was in shock to how awesome the piece came out. He totally got everything you did !!! QUESTION - HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED GETTING YOURSELF A LOGO STAMP FOR YOUR FURNITURE PIECES/ ETC. AND BRAND THE PIECE. TRIBUTE TO A DIY DANIE ONE OF A KIND. You are amazing!!! Karen from Florida 🌴💕
I love it! You just nailed what they asked for! Sophisticated nerdy. I especially love what you did to the drawerinserts, it will make them smile everytime they use them! :) Thanks for sharing!
I need to have something like this. It's so creative. I find it hard to mix nerdy things with decor in the house this helps so much. You did such a great job.
My husband asked me something and I paused the video at 31:49. This still literally expresses how I feel about this transformation and sums up the AMAZING job you have done, Danie. You DIY for the soul. You are a gem.
I would love it, and I know nothing about Zelda! You did an amazing job! And I have to say, mad respect for the amount of patience you had with yourself as you had to reevaluate and redo certain things. You stayed positive and moved forward and I'm so impressed.
I don’t know anything about Zelda, but I love the amount of subtlety you did. And the Zelda stuff aside, the way you were able to transform that cabinet is amazing. I would want it!!!
The feeling I had watching this was like with your Batman setup, soooo fun and interesting to watch. I LOVE your creativity and realness. Real people do make mistakes lol
This makes my nerdy heart SING! Your creativity is insane.
💕💕💕✨
My first reaction to the reveal was also, “This is insane it’s so good.”
Insane is right!!!
Or, “this is so good it’s insane.”
That cabinet is a work of art👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Jason from the video here - this cabinet is my favorite piece of furniture and I really think Danie went above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined. THANK YOU
Your face said it all Jason! I'm so happy for you two!
My 60 yo rock-n-roll nerd self grinned at the “Machine Head” album. An all time favorite.
LOVE love love!!!! The 2nd poster was definitely MUCH better than the first. I have one crafty tip. You can put ModPodge down, let it dry, then iron your poster (or whatever) on top with no wrinkles! Great TIP!!!!!!!! ✨✨✨✨✨
That's genius!!
Wow thank you so much for your idea. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I love his face when he opened his eyes. Both of them. Fab job. That piece will never leave their family. 🎉
Yes!! His face was the best part! 😁

Upside down Sheika is the Yiga symbol! 😂 Loved the Zelda sound effects and the Korok details 🥰
Little Makar being included with all the Koroks made me so happy! Not sure if anyone here played Wind Waker.
This is one of your all time best projects!!!! Nerdy and elegant at the same time! Zelda and Link are proud of you. 🧝🏻🧝🏻♀️🏹🗡️🎮
More "Nerdy, but make it beautiful" stuff please!! 💕
Love it or thrift is is my favourite thing you do. I am so in awe every time! 💕💕💕
It’s my favourite series to create!!! 💕
I love how excited they were when they saw it. It looks amazing!
Designing “Nerditure” is your calling! ❤
Love that you show the process, even when it doesn't go quite as planed. Its so cute that he really was shocked by it's coolness.... yay nerds!
To be honest, when she showed the inspiration colours…… I hated them, thought they were horrible but when she showed us the backing with thicker print… damn, I had to eat my thoughts! That’s a fun idea!!!!! I would love to see your HP version 😍

P.S. my heart broke💔 for you when you left the backing out in the rain. But as I always say "there was a reason for that".
I just turned 60, and I used to play The Legend of Zelda with my now 38 year old son. I love this cabinet!
Does anyone wonder how this channel doesn’t have many more subs? Why?!! Danie is so good and also so much better than others

im not even into Zelda and I love it
Missed opportunity to have the drawers have a integrated sound effect going “ya ha ha! You found me!” 😂 but seriously amazing piece! Love everything about it! Great job!
Perfect comment ❤
As a Zelda nerd I love it and I'm a little jealous. LOL
My nerdy heart just stopped and I'm in heaven
I feel you girl! I SEE you haha ❤️✨
Its brilliant.
I'd 100% love to have this in my home. It's stunning! What a great result! 💙
Yah ha ha! I'm doing that to all of my drawers now.
I don't know how I found this channel but I LOVE THIS!!
Geeky/Nerdy builds are Danie's zone of excellence!
You did an *awesome* and *incredible* job with that cabinet. I absolutely *LOVE* what you did for this *Couple* and the *PASSION* that you have for this *Project* will show for *MANY* years to come. Congratulations on a job very well done!!! ~ JonseyG 👲💖
That was really cute. I especially love the hidden Koroks. Plus his face when you revealed there's a light to illuminate the things inside. Love this.
You always work so hard. I am so impressed with your crafty skills.
My childhood Nintendo heart absolutely love this cabinet! Great job, Danie!
You certainly made his day. This was an amazing diy. I would never throw it away
Amazing
Don't know Zelda, but you made her come to live. Love that you keep in the oops. I have watched you for years and have never been disappointed.
This reveal made me emotional. HIS FAAAACE! Love it.
The look on Jason's face said it all! The jaw dropping, staring at the amazement that was before him! Both were so impressed and now all their nerdy friends are going to be so jelly!

Wonderful, beautiful, unique👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

The "ya ha ha!" korok sound will forever play in their heads every time they open the drawers
Your joy...... I can't stop smiling-even when all the things kept tripping you up. You're so fricken awesome, Danie!
Dani I love this! Sent it to my son he is a Zelda and Link nerd!!!
You are THE BEST at making fandom furniture!!! It’s obvious what it is but without it looking like merch. Love this intersection of interior design!
I am clueless about the world of Zelda, but the craftsmanship in creating the doors and sides- beautiful cabinet!
Love it or thrift it- one minute in the video, clicked the 👍button already! The series & how you change the pieces is awesome
Thank you!!! 🙏💕💕💕
This piece is INCREDIBLE dani!! The mid century modern aesthetic with the zelda touches is 🤌🏻 MWAH chef's kiss!!
Love the new take on the cabinet. Perfect for a collector showing off their favorites. Nice work and so glad I was suggested your channel.

His EYES 👀 when he saw the piece!
You did such a great job on this! It's fun to see your enjoyment of your projects coming back and your sparkle! And I also wanted to tell your hair is looking really good these days.
I hope you are doing as well as you look and I really enjoyed this project and look forward to more!

I LOVE the knobs! It’s a very classy, mature, _nerdi-licious_ IYKYK touch.
Love it! The drop jaw look on his face, totally worth it!
Hearing "Zellers" come up in a YT video was not what I was expecting today 😂
Playing tears of the kingdom last night. This cabinet brings me so much joy. I want it. Great job.
Do you love it?
- YES!
That reply was so pure
You did a great job. Thank you for including the ‘mistakes’. Makes us all realize that diy is a process!
Oh, this is one of my favourite series on your channel!
I love everything about this cabinet and I'm not even a Zelda fan. My 40 yr old son started playing the game when it first came out.😁 All of the details you incorporated make the cabinet a work of art.
Best. Thing. Ever.
luv how you always mention your struggle, cause pretty much for any project you are going to have some level of struggle.
Beautiful! I’m a Zelda girl, so that would be a treasured cabinet in my home! Thank you for showing the detailed step-by-step hard work. So CREATIVE. ✨🥰
I love it! You are so creative.
I love the nerd themed DIYs. I found your channel 3 yrs ago because of the Adult Harry Potter bedroom….I haven’t been disappointed since 😉🥰
I love this so much. The only thing I would have to add would be for it to have three shelves instead of two. He’s definitely gonna be building on his collection and it has loads of room for more shelves. This is a very inspiring piece and I play way too much Tears of the Kingdom. 😂🤍
Love the Zelda cabinet! But, I love Zelda, soooo of course!
What a neat project! I adore your bubbly personality and your creative approach to everything, Danie.
Enjoy your weekend!
Honestly, the nerdier the request, the better Danie gets! This is just soooo cool!!!
That cabinet is amazing. This is my favourite DIY of yours so far. I would definitely love to have this in my home.

Cursed projects are so HARD! Go for you for persevering!

I love how excited she was to reveal the cabinet becuase she knows how fricking DOPE it is!!! It’s stunning visually and so cool thematically!!
Danie, your attention to detail is what really sets you apart. You continue to amaze me with your creative flips. ❤❤❤❤
I absolutely love this cabinet, it’s amazing! I love Zelda and never thought of incorporating it into furniture, it’s brilliant!
That "I bid thee adieu!" at the end was definitely a mic drop! Excellent work Danie!
They had the best reaction faces. Each new quirky element made their faces light up.
I would die for this cabinet ;3;
Ocarina of Time is one of the best games I've ever played and so iconic. This is bringing back all the feels!!!!
What an amazing outcome!! Love the re-purposing of the original cabinet. What a great concept!!

Epic subtle nerdy, my favorite kind!
"Doing something nerdy subtle but in an epic way"
Yeah that adds up
My husband asked me something and I paused the video at 31:49. This still literally expresses how I feel about this transformation and sums up the AMAZING job you have done, Danie.

You made them so happy!! I love your charming, thoughtful touches!!! This made my day.
I don’t know anything about Zelda, but I love the amount of subtlety you did. And the Zelda stuff aside, the way you were able to transform that cabinet is amazing. I would want it!!!
I am OBSESSED with this one! And so many fun ideas but still so mid-century modern. Plus I love zelda so wins all around!
The feeling I had watching this was like with your Batman setup, soooo fun and interesting to watch. I LOVE your creativity and realness. Real people do make mistakes lol
Zeldafreak here, loving the cabinet!!!
This is what I needed after a terrible flight back home-my son driving me insane-a load of unacking/cleaning/organizing to do. Thanks Danie!❤
