Can we get a full review of the QIDI X MAX 3? It seems to have a ton of potential. I’m considering pulling the trigger on one. Would love to hear your take. It seems like a solid printer with a few quirks. I can’t believe bambu doesn’t have a printer this size yet… I’m tired of waiting. Current printer is MK3S+. Prusa missed the mark by not getting a core XY enclosure printer to market.
Would appreciate a top large size 3d printers comparison. Roughly 400*400*400 build volume and not bedslingers because they take up to much space to fit in a closed or on a table.
I’ve built a Siboor V0.2 CNC kit and a Voron V0.1 (V0.2 S1 in progress) and I agree with your reviews of them. There are better toolhead options besides the stealthburner, I think that would improve them a lot. Considering I print ABS/ASA mainly it doesn’t need much part cooling. The LDO kit also doesn’t come with the lcd controller which is another $30. The LDO kit comes with a hiwin X rail which is better quality. I agree with you though that the voron v0.2 build isn’t for the feint of heart. But once it’s tuned it’s like beast of a printer.
The SV07 and SV07 Plus look great, but the SV06 and SV06 Plus still seem to have better feature sets except for running Marlin instead of Klipper. I'm still leaning towards the SV06 Plus the most. Is there any major reason I'm missing to go SV07 Plus instead?
I’m really tempted by the Qidi X-Max 3, but know I’ll be super annoyed if Bambu Labs releases an XL version. How likely do you think this will be in the near future? Not a huge problem waiting for a few months as I’ve got zero spare cash 😂
The Bambu cloud and privacy issues have really turned me off from them. They are great printers but...for me that leaves the Qidi X-Max 3 and Plus 3 and Creality K1 and K1 Max.
@@raymondsmith4747 What big privacy issues are turn-off in regards of BambuLab? And what are the great better solution out there? Seems to me cloud in general have privacy issues. Yet to see anything happen to users of the bambu cloud!
@@raymondsmith4747 Why would you use the cloud with it when you don't have to if you don't want to? It's an either or kind of thing, not sure what you're going on about. It prints better than the creality and has better support than the quidi.
This is a very nice format, with combined reviews / verdicts on all tested printers. While I do understand that it would take way too much time make a full review of all printers you receive for review, then the format would be great to include on the channel full reviews of the best of the printers. :) Not saying you did not already do something like this, but use commenting on how the format could be going forward. Thanks for another good video. :)
One comment to the Voron 0.2. There is the FANTASTIC Dragonburner Toolhead. It uses 4010 Blowers instead of 3010 Blowers and has MASSIVE Amounts of Cooling compared to the stock one. All you need are two 4010 Fans. For the extruder I would use the Mini Sherpa, as It works with the stock internals and is lighter.
I appreciate the comparison videos, thank you. I have an SV01 pro and SV06 pro. I don’t need a new printer but I really want one. I’m intrigued by the P1p and the P1S, but tempted by the sv07
I just wanted to point out that for the P1S is $15 to get the hardened steel hot End/nozzle and $20 for the hardened steel extruder gears on the website.
Super useful video. One suggestion: since you mentioned that you disassemble the spool holders to be able to position the printers in racks, could you please specify the _minimum_ Width x Depth x Height dimensions required to operate each printer? Nobody seems to specify these. Cheers!
Nice roundup. The only thing I'd add is that any printer that lets you control it over USB (like the Kobra 2) can have networking added for about $20 with an SBC and OctoPrint. I use a bunch of Orange Pi Zero boards currently since the Raspberry Pis are still harder to come by currently. The new Orange Pi Zero 3 is really nice for as little as $15. Loving the P1S also (and upgraded my P1P with the P1S kit on Monday).
The p1 series extruder gears and hotends are exactly the same as the x1, only in stainless steel. You can easily swap both of them out for hardened steel and have no issues at all with abrasives.
I’ve got a selfish request. I’m strugglin to pick a voron 2.4 kit. I want a fleet of conveyer belt bed 2.4’s to run around the clock. Siboors cnc functional parts with all hiwin rails kit is quite intriguing to me. But LDO seems to have a lock on good build instructions. And I can’t find a comparison. Ur segment in this video is the closest I’ve found. A siboor v ldo kit comparison video is what I’m lookin for. :) Keep up the great work, it’s greatly appreciated…and ur really good it!
Not sure why you didn't include Creality K1 and K1-max. For me the decision is between the Bambu printers, Qidi's new printers (x-max 3 x-plus 3), and the Creality K1's.
@@thenextlayer I didn't realize a printer released a month or two ago made it old news. I was interested in comparing the new(er) higher speed printers which I certainly think would include the K1's. I look forward to your K1 Max review. In your K1 review it's not clear if you had the "fixed" extruder or not. You said your replace it and it was better...Nathan that you referenced did a comparison of the old and the new "fixed" extruders. If you had the old one then I would discount the extruder related issues which I think you kind of did...
Despite the few issues, your impressions of the Qidi X-Max 3 have me appreciating Qidi that much more. I was already impressed with the company thanks to a few other reviews, though that whole "brick your machine if you update it thing" is properly bizarre. Despite that, they seem like a better alternative to Bambu Lab for people worried about Bambu's explicitly bad ToS and data security.
2 months x max 3 owner here: I like it, it's got it where it counts. Motors get hot af tho, so might not last as long as id like... Also QIDI doesn't do PETG, so there is no PETG profile... The generic one supplied is ... strange ... Print quality is pretty good tho, speed is amazing. You really need a solid desk or shelf to put it on.
top big volume prints is a great idea, 300x300 printers are becoming common even at the budget end got myself one this spring and I've already printed a few things that wouldn't fit on 230x230, but never came close to the full build volume, I'd like to test that not interested to print buckets, though
The only reason, why I bought a printer with 300x300 mm bed, was to be able to print bigger prints and not limit myself! So, please, come with that big prints video!
This was another great video, thank you. I, for one, would love the large format video you teased. I am still enjoying my Creality CR-10 that I have owned since 2017. It has been heavily modified and prints reliably and with good quality. I bought a Prusa MK3s kit and enjoyed building it but the print quality leap I thought it would provide was not much at all. I guess I’ve got my CR-10 dialed in to well! I since sold the Prusa and need to see what you recommend for my 310mm x 310 mm build surface.
This video is really great, however... I use my M5C daily and I find that even though I'm a seasoned 3D printer its still my favourite machine to use. Also check out the panda touch or x touch P1S mods which allow it to have a great high quality touch screen.
Love these types of videos, especially for someone who is looking into getting into 3D printing. Also, I would like to see you compare bigger 3D printers.
Definitely want to see a large printer comparison. Just setup and X1C that I love, but want to add a larger printer for oddball jobs, and am struggling to come up with really solid up-to-date comparison info. Subscribed in anticipation.
Thanks for the vid! I'm going round and round in circles trying to decide on my next printer. There are almost too many choices these days lol. I need something bigger than my Prusa mini, I agree with you on the mk4 value, the XL may be available when my grandchildren pick up the hobby, and its not even enclosed. So I think I'm gonna grab a 7 Plus for now and maybe some day Prusa will give us an enclosed 350 corexy. I can dream.
I wonder if its possible to upgrade the Bambu X1 Carbon to print PEAK and other higher temperature (400 deg C) filaments? On Amazon & Aliexpress there are lots of replacement hotends saying they support 500 deg C for the Bambu p1S/X1C.. but i can't see any youtube videos confirming.
Thank you for the video . I would appreciate a video on comparing all the new larger format 300cmx300cm bed printers either bed stingers or xy. I am in the market for a large printer for items for work and I have been looking for a year and they keep evolving but I do need to make a decision. I was all set to get the K1 max but now sovol 7plus come and well the eleego max is larger which might help for future designs so a video like this for the bugs guys starting as far back as the artillery sidewinder might be useful. Thank you for a good video. I learned about printers that I haven't even heard of too!
I’m looking at the Elegoo 4 pro. What are your thoughts on it? I really appreciate your time and thoughts. Love your channel. Myself just getting into 3d printing.
I've been waiting on the SV07 Plus. I'm still waiting on the Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro Plus. The extra speed of the core XY machines does me no good because most of my parts are TPU that can't be printed quickly anyway. I wanted Klipper for improved print quality and the new high speed printers have much better cooling which will help with overhangs.
Love the comparison format, it makes it easy to know what to expect from the current market. Been looking to get a larger printer and the SV07 seems like a good pick at a decent price. I’ve been interested in the Kobra max/neptune 3 max but they don’t seem very fast, a big printer comparison would be very helpful.
@@thenextlayer Thanks for the input, I ended up ordering a SV07 plus. At the time of my first comment I didn't realize there was a plus/max version of the Kobra 2 but on top of not being open source they also lack all-metal hotends. Despite the bigger bed sizes I do not see them as a better value.
Excellent Video! It gives a great overview of your expirience with all the different printers. Personally I only own larger printers doing large funktional prints: 2 Ratrig VCORE 3 500X500X500 fully enclosed, an Ender 5Plus heavy modified and klipperized and since 2 weeks ago a Qidi X-MAX 3. The purpous of the X-MAX 3 will be to print GF and CF material only becaus I'm lazy and don't want to change nozzels and filaments on my Ratrigs all the time.
Thanks for the video. For the LDO kits, I feel while it’s documented, the organization and bouncing between manuals is cumbersome and fraustrating. Built a ldo trident and v0.2, in comparison the Salad Fork documentation was straight forward.
Great to see a mini review of the SV07 Plus even though it's not officially launched yet. 🤫 I am a bit disappointed that it is only a bigger SV07 with not many improvements like what Creality did with the K1 Max. They fixed problems on the K1 on it. Actually in terms of upgrades, I was hoping the look of the SV07 Plus would be like a bigger Ender 3 V3 SE - linear rails (like the SV06 Plus) on the bed especially with a bigger build plate. As for me, I've mentioned I'm still deciding between a P1S Combo or K1 Max for my 1st and only printer. I want a bigger volume for costumes, but I also want an AMS for printing toys and fun stuff for family and friends. I can't spend more than $1000 for a printer.
If you want an AMS, you’ll need a Bambu printer - or to build a Voron and ERCF which is NOT for beginners. Sounds like P1S is the option for you. You’ll do fine without a huge printer probably. People overestimate their needs. Also Bambu doesn’t have a big printer coming out any time soon - at least not for many months. If you end up buying Bambu, jle.vi/bambu would help me out, and jle.vi/creality if you buy creality
@@thenextlayer Thanks for the reply! For sure I'm keeping away from the Vorons. 😅As I mentioned, one reason I want a bigger volume is to print helmets but I can always cut them up. I really appreciate when I get replies from makers. Makes me think about my options. One RUclipsr suggested to get the K1 Max so at least I have the volume, as there may be an AMS-like machine in the future that will be compatible to the K1 printers. Still have months away to buy my 1st printer as it will be my 50th bday gift to myself. 🥳👨🦳 Gives me time to save up too! Hopefully some company comes up with an affordable large, multicolor printer when it's time for me to buy one. 😅🤞
I like this kind of review - there's soooooo many near-clones that just quickshotting them is more than they deserve review-wise. Now there's some standouts and firsts here and there which should be given more airtime - some of Sovol's recent products & Bambu Labs spring to mind here but these are few and far between. Yet another bedslinger from Prusa is yawn time, but the XL toolhead is very interesting from an engineering standpoint. They definitely all need to be rated on the "can my mum print with them?" scale.
Whats kinda sad, by the time some of us can save up to buy something like the x1c or x-max-3, a newer better printer comes out with better/more features and a bigger bed. Worst part, it always happens *right* after you blow that money on the older printer you've had in your wishlist for months.
given they have hardened steel nozzle hotends and hardened steel extruder gears available from bambu, does the p1s still have issues with abrasive filaments if you upgrade those. i know that is not something for the novice necessarily but i've built my own voron without issue before this seems a reasonable and cheap upgrade if it lets me get better experience with abrasives
If you had a choice to buy, X1C or the P1S, which would you get??? I'm between a noobie & intermediate with printers running marlin f/w with cura. I even upgraded my son's geetech A20M. At my age now, I just want to take it out of the box and make whatever with whenever I want, like toys for grandkids or structural stuff...
If you have the budget, the X1C is the printer to beat. If you want to save a little, the P1S is also phenomenal. I would rather have a P1S combo than just an X1C. Either way, I'd love if you used my link :) jle.vi/bambu
great comparison! just a quick question. did you find the cnc'd a and b stepper housings a bit too beefy? my toolhead hits that if i move the gantry all the way back
I wish you could buy the bigger screen as an add on for the p1s, but its not that big of a deal. I dont really use the screen that much anyway. It was my first printer, and i love it.
@@thenextlayer The problem when they give the first buyers a discount is that usually only US buyers can get it on that date. For that reason, I will be watching the release of the new Anycubic machines.
I would definitely like to see a larger printer video, I love having the flexibility of a larger 3d printer, I am looking ot replace my aging CR10 V2 with a newer faster one with as large or larger print size. so yeah, please do a large format printer rundown, that would be great.
Great vid, I am looking at a new printer as my current ender 3 s1 is starting to become unreliable and have issues with vertical prints. How does the sovol 7 plus compare to the 7? Also which would be your pick between the Bambu ps1 or the qidi max 3 ?
SV07Plus is fantastic, just like the SV07 but bigger honestly. I would choose the Bambu P1S personally, but if you need a big build volume, the Qidi is great too
@@thenextlayer thanks for the reply and advice, just really want a printer that is bigger and that just prints well. Also looking at some that will handle the other filaments as well.
@@thenextlayer prusa is like a MacBook Pro, very nice machine and works very well, great support, and slick features, but that comes at a premium compared to competition who give you 90% of the features for half the price. I’d love a prusa mk4, it looks like an excellent machine. But it just doesn’t make sense in a world with the p1s and similar
I think you will find you can get the Kobra 2 much cheaper than the SV07. This is certainly the case in Australia and added pressure from the Ender 3 V3 may push it lower.
@@thenextlayer I have done some research and there are definitely users who believe the belted dual lead screw system is better than dual motors. I sell 3D printers and spend a lot of time searching for bargains and I can get the Kobra 2 Pro cheaper than SV07. Mind you Anycubic had significant teething problems that seem to be resolved with the latest firmware. It seems most of the new generation printers were rushed out too fast.
If you were going to buy 2 Bambu’s would you buy 2-P1S’s, 2-X1C’s, or would you buy 1 of each. I think the main thing I like about the x1C is the higher rated Hot bed plate. I could just replace the hot end nozzle with a steel one.
yes the comgrow T500 is the kind of energy we need in the market. throw a 1.2mm CHT clone on there bro. you can use nuts as heat conductive spacers like the CNC kitchen video from august of 2022
Thanks for the vid. Good info but you should have also given prices for them. I'm in the market for a new machine currently and am thinking the Bambu Carbon X1 with AMS. It's a bit expensive and not perfect but certainly seems more capable than most others. I've been using an Ender 5 for the past 3 years and I learned a lot about the process with that printer (still works well today). But I'm looking for an enclosed printer that can use more specialized engineering grade filaments and definitely want to up the speed. What have your experiences been with the X1 w/AMS? You seem to like the P1S but that display is miserable and I'd rather have a full temp build plate, the higher end camera and the hardened steel hot end & gearing. Do you have any reservations about the X1? Thanks for any info you can share.
If you’ve got the money and don’t mind spending it the X1C combo is the best printer money can buy now hands down. If you want to save a bit, go P1S. You sound like you want only the best though. So get the Bambu. Kindly use my link as it helps support the channel? Https://jle.vi/bambu

But once it’s tuned it’s like beast of a printer.
wish more channels did that more than just two printers. great vid!
The Qidi looks really promising! Thank you for the review
Loved the video - period - full stop!!!
Yes I would love to see you do the TOP 'large' printers.
Will do!!
Great to see an honest review love watching your vids
I appreciate that!
another great video, loving 3d printing now, so much choice out there, from when i started with my Anet A8, keep up the great work
Thanks, will do!
Love the reviews! Thanks Jonathan for all the loads of hards work!!
My pleasure!
Excellent analysis - such a detailed review. Bravo!
Thank you kindly!
The SV07 and SV07 Plus look great, but the SV06 and SV06 Plus still seem to have better feature sets except for running Marlin instead of Klipper. I'm still leaning towards the SV06 Plus the most. Is there any major reason I'm missing to go SV07 Plus instead?
Nope, if you get an SV06 + Sonic Pad, you'll be GOLDEN
@@thenextlayer Thanks man I appreciate it.
@@raymondsmith4747 agreed! I was always a bit wary of their cloud first approach, and the recent shenanigans haven’t helped!
@@raymondsmith4747 What big privacy issues are turn-off in regards of BambuLab? And what are the great better solution out there? Seems to me cloud in general have privacy issues. Yet to see anything happen to users of the bambu cloud!
@@raymondsmith4747 I love my Qidi X-Max 3. Best printer to date for me! After Creality printers in the past I am glad I went with the Qidi
Nice i will check it out because damn the cooling sucks on this one.
Cheers!
That's a great idea! I’ll try to do in the future.
I would enjoy a large format printer video. Currently enjoying my Sidewinder X2 but am looking to upgrade
That is true but also unnecessary today when most printers ship ready to connect
Keep up the great work, it’s greatly appreciated…and ur really good it!
To be honest I’d probably go with the siboor right now. The price difference is just so massive. Https://jle.vi/Siboor
@@thenextlayer thanks man, I’m leaning that way.
Not sure why you didn't include Creality K1 and K1-max. For me the decision is between the Bambu printers, Qidi's new printers (x-max 3 x-plus 3), and the Creality K1's.
K1 is quite old news and I did a full review on it. K1M is out of stock, I’ll get it next month
Bingo! I was impressed too.
Do you mean SV06 PLUS??? I CANT SEE A 7 PLUS ON THEIR WEBSITE...Great Video and love the format, clear and concise.
Much appreciated!
@@thenextlayer Link does seem to go to the SV07 - do you know when the SV07 PLUS will be released? Thanks!
I don't have an Xmax3, but the plastic makes sense considering it costs less than the much smaller X1C printer.
Interesting format. Good to see a simple comparison. Still unsure between K1 max from Creality and Qidi Tech X-Max 3 tho.
I’ll test K1M soon and do a showdown on large printers
Very much looking forward to that. :) @@thenextlayer
If you prefer the SV06 linear rails you can just choose the upgrades when you buy it and you'll have an SV07 without rollers.
top big volume prints is a great idea, 300x300 printers are becoming common even at the budget end
got myself one this spring and I've already printed a few things that wouldn't fit on 230x230, but never came close to the full build volume, I'd like to test that
not interested to print buckets, though
The only reason, why I bought a printer with 300x300 mm bed, was to be able to print bigger prints and not limit myself! So, please, come with that big prints video!
Will do. Stay subbed!
On it!
Definitely want to see a large printer comparison. Just setup and X1C that I love, but want to add a larger printer for oddball jobs, and am struggling to come up with really solid up-to-date comparison info. Subscribed in anticipation.
So far the Qidi XMAX3 is the one to beat. But I’ll test the K1 Max soon too I think
… why not just get a Bambu like literally everyone else?
I have trust issues. lol@@thenextlayer
I’m on it!!
Great breakdown and comparison. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Kobra 2 series is very fast. But I prefer the Sovol because it’s open source
Bring on those large prints! I have the SV06 Plus and the SV07 Plus (yes, as beta tester)
Seeing 4 Engineers via zoom call on that AnkerMake = dramatically improved my view of AnkerMake.
Same.
Excellent Video! It gives a great overview of your expirience with all the different printers. Personally I only own larger printers doing large funktional prints:
2 Ratrig VCORE 3 500X500X500 fully enclosed, an Ender 5Plus heavy modified and klipperized and since 2 weeks ago a Qidi X-MAX 3. The purpous of the X-MAX 3 will be to print GF and CF material only becaus I'm lazy and don't want to change nozzels and filaments on my Ratrigs all the time.
Thanks for sharing!
I was looking for the Elegoo Neptune 4 pro
I would love to hear about the larger printers as I purchased elegoo Neptune max and wondering if I made the right choice

Thanks for the video. For the LDO kits, I feel while it’s documented, the organization and bouncing between manuals is cumbersome and fraustrating. Built a ldo trident and v0.2, in comparison the Salad Fork documentation was straight forward.
Can you please share your Qidi Xmax 3 Settings/profiles? I have one and I admire your prints.
Stock OrcaSlicer profile!
Yes much better format 👍
Thanks glad you enjoyed it.
The svo7 plus must be very new. I can't even find it on their website.
It'll be out in a few days... stay tuned, and kindly use jle.vi/sovol when you pick one up :)
What about creality K1 max?
Out of stock I’ll get one soon though
i didnt know that Bob Sinclar was a 3d printer expert youtuber, well done ! 😃
Whats kinda sad, by the time some of us can save up to buy something like the x1c or x-max-3, a newer better printer comes out with better/more features and a bigger bed. Worst part, it always happens *right* after you blow that money on the older printer you've had in your wishlist for months.
Big thanks for this. What machine is recommended for small object PLA print quality prioritised above everything else? budget $500.
Wait till September 20th
👍👍@@thenextlayer
given they have hardened steel nozzle hotends and hardened steel extruder gears available from bambu, does the p1s still have issues with abrasive filaments if you upgrade those. i know that is not something for the novice necessarily but i've built my own voron without issue before this seems a reasonable and cheap upgrade if it lets me get better experience with abrasives
Good morning, in your opinion, what is the best 3D printer, with an approximate area of 300x300x300mm and that prints ABS and ASA filaments?
Thanks
great comparison! just a quick question. did you find the cnc'd a and b stepper housings a bit too beefy? my toolhead hits that if i move the gantry all the way back
Works fine for me…
I wish you could buy the bigger screen as an add on for the p1s, but its not that big of a deal. I dont really use the screen that much anyway. It was my first printer, and i love it.
I'm about to order my P1S and I'll use your link :)
Thank you!!!
4:49 klipper is basically tells you that you have to upgrade MCU, it have nothing to be broken state.
I'd be curious if you'd do a voron trident, and see what you think about that.

The Anycubic Kobra 2 looks especially bad when compared to the new Ender 3 V3. At $200, there's no question which to buy.
Yep, but they have the Pro coming soon
I would definitely like to see a larger printer video, I love having the flexibility of a larger 3d printer, I am looking ot replace my aging CR10 V2 with a newer faster one with as large or larger print size. so yeah, please do a large format printer rundown, that would be great.
Does the SVO7 quality settings also work with the SV07 Plus?
Yes
Great vid, I am looking at a new printer as my current ender 3 s1 is starting to become unreliable and have issues with vertical prints. How does the sovol 7 plus compare to the 7? Also which would be your pick between the Bambu ps1 or the qidi max 3 ?
SV07Plus is fantastic, just like the SV07 but bigger honestly. I would choose the Bambu P1S personally, but if you need a big build volume, the Qidi is great too
@@thenextlayer thanks for the reply and advice, just really want a printer that is bigger and that just prints well. Also looking at some that will handle the other filaments as well.
what about USB cable to computer? that's a feature I want because I don't want wireless

Used to be a fan but like most I can’t justify the price anhmore.
@@thenextlayer prusa is like a MacBook Pro, very nice machine and works very well, great support, and slick features, but that comes at a premium compared to competition who give you 90% of the features for half the price. I loved the 3D printer inside the 3D printer at 3:07. It is a three-ducken!
I think you will find you can get the Kobra 2 much cheaper than the SV07. This is certainly the case in Australia and added pressure from the Ender 3 V3 may push it lower.
Interesting. I hope so. Looking forward to the other smarter kobra models though
Qidi Max sounds god, but . . . what about multicolor?
If you were going to buy 2 Bambu’s would you buy 2-P1S’s, 2-X1C’s, or would you buy 1 of each.
I think the main thing I like about the x1C is the higher rated Hot bed plate. I could just replace the hot end nozzle with a steel one.
P1Ses probably. But sit tight, because I have a review of the K1C coming soon and it’s surprising
yes the comgrow T500 is the kind of energy we need in the market. throw a 1.2mm CHT clone on there bro. you can use nuts as heat conductive spacers like the CNC kitchen video from august of 2022
Thanks for the vid.
