"Fear the man who grows old in a job where most die young"
In the SFTO, Ballistics "scared vow to the dead" is not to his wife(Sok Leng), but to his brother-in-law(Kit Siang, Sok Leng's brother), who was the one that perished and led Ballistic down his road of despair. Ballistic likely vowed never to join such a bloodsport ever again, but has decided to break it in order to protect his son.

Fun fact, Ballistic is voiced by Robin Atkin Downes, who's best known for voicing Medic from Team Fortress 2.

@@sethshearhart3682 I don't think it's a case of him not knowing fist bumps, I think it's a case of him not *doing* fist bumps. Ballistic is the classy type. He'd much rather do something like a handshake rather than a fist bump or a high-five.
In case you guys are wondering the vow to the dead is not to his wife but his brother in law who died due to his showboating at 1:16.

I also have a strong feeling that the next legend is going to be Nathaniel, Ballistic’s son, for a few reasons. 1: We have seen previous legends release one after the other, as was the case for Loba, whose first appearance was in Revenant’s trailer, and then was released the next season. 2: Nathaniel qualified for the Apex Games, which is not something anyone can do, and he seems genuine about wanting to enter the competition, and now that his father prevented him from entering, his desire to get in himself and confront him will grow even stronger. I personally think that Nathaniel will enter the games by force (because Duardo Silva made a deal with Ballistic to not let him join the games). There are also some leaks about the next legend possibly being Uplink, a male character who works with satellites 🛰️ or something. Ofc leaks are not always true, but like Bethany said, his son is *not* going to let this go. I can totally see Nathaniel being the next legend. 😂🤣

I was looking forward to this reaction, although I was honestly hoping that you’d include the battle pass trailer with it as well. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction and analysis of Ballistic. And you’re absolutely right, Bethany, about how you can’t really stop someone from making mistakes, and that attempting to do so is often futile. But I still understand and appreciate his reasoning for entering the games. One interesting thing to note is that his son was the nephew of his former teammate who died. And because Ballistic blames himself for his brother-in-law’s death, that “sacred vow to the dead” was him promising to never engage in combat or join the Apex games. But he broke it in an attempt to save his son.
Yeah we had hoped to do the battle pass trailer but we film on weekends mainly and it didn’t release until Monday ☹️

If you're looking for more apex characters and trailers you can check out Apex Legends Mobile cinematic trailers. It is not really confirmed to be the same story line and sadly the mobile game got shut down, but the trailers are just as good with two characters that you haven't seen before.

I'd also say that him joining the games in his son stead might show a little bit of selfishness. He definitely longs for the glory days and a big part of him joining is his displeasure at being called a disgrace. He wants to save his son from the mistakes of his past but he also wants to prove something to everyone. He wants to leave a different legacy.

Ballistic is someone I truly feel very neutral about like he’s a veteran, he’s been here before the apex games we’re called the apex games but he’s also a bad dad…so I don’t know how I feel about him and I very much like that

It's a bit weird that a 20 year old retiree can come back out of his 50 year retirement as a full time alcoholic and immediately be more agile than the best athletes in the Games. Never thought I'd say this but the last decent Legend that they released was Mad Maggie. And I hated her at the time for having no place in the games, lore wise (made sense for Silva do have her there but made no sense for the other Legends to accept her given what she had done).
Just shows how good he was back in the day. 🤗

I definitely agree and value your opinions but could you expand on the part where u compared him to maggie?
I don't really see where maggie strived to be a better person and while she is misunderstood, she mostly seems to care abt her own ppl and freedom as oppose to how others perceive her
I just wanted to know what you were talking abt and what I'm not getting
Maybe instead of better person, striving for a better world or at least making a change despite their faults. Both of the characters are selfish in their own way but also have the capabilities to step outside of that to do something good. Even if they themselves are never truly good or altruistic 🤗
