    At 12:00 .... that is EXACTLY what I'm doing with my arms, not throwing them at the ball. I hit good liners just like you said you were doing but no real power. This video really nails it and your narration is perfect. I'm working on fixing it but it's not easy to break old habits. Thanks for taking the time and putting this together. It's very helpful.

    Love the videos! Keep ‘‘em coming! I’m new to slow pitch softball as a 40yr old. As a kid I played one year of Rex baseball and as a 20yr old 1 yr of slow pitch. Recently starting playing again so I call myself new. I’ve been struggling hitting and really thought about giving it up. Your videos have inspired me to keep playing and put in some work to get better. This channel is great.

I was seriously thinking about giving up when I simply googled "how to hit a slow pitch softball". its a great game, but I wasn't having fun anymore. I still have a lot of work to do but I can see the work paying off. I hope you too find the success you are looking for!!

      I'm glad you enjoyed the video and found some inspiration in it! My swing still needs lots of help. I've improved my mechanics a lot but I'm still working on timing, point of contact, and pitch selection, all while trying not to let my swing mechanics breakdown. In other words, I'm still on the journey with you!!

  • @phukit5456
    @phukit5456 8 месяцев назад +1

    I like the breakdown and analysis. I think by concentrating on turning your hips, you won't have to concentrate on dragging your right foot forward. What helped me a lot was throwing the hands ,keeping the left leg straight and keeping my spine straighter.

    • @DLeagueBP
      @DLeagueBP  8 месяцев назад

      I appreciate the feedback! As I said in the video, I hadn't yet perfected the swing (and 1 year later, I'm still working on it). Your suggestions regarding the hips, hands, and leg/spine are all correct, but I try not to get into the smallest details. Instead, I want to give people who are really struggling tips that can help them become a consistent hitter. That was the purpose of this video, and will be the purpose of a couple videos I have in the works. And as always, I appreciate your support!!!

      Look for a guy named Jaimie Cavalos or the swing mechanic. He talks about lead arm chest compression in a baseball swing. A Ken Griffey Jr type swing exactky. Keeping that lead arm tight and rotating hard is the best way. I do it even now in slow pitch but I also use a slight over snap thru the ball. Hit much harder and further

    Been playing now so far 4 seasons, halfway through my 4th season after being maybe a 15 year hiatus.
    Slow pitch softball is deceptively easy, you think you will go 5 for 5 every game. . Lefty here with probably a breadbasket pitch will be second baseman, right center field hard grounder, line drive or fly ball.
    Chess match mentality with word of mouth throughout opponents on where to play me caused to start spraying the ball through out the infield and outfield. I adjusted.
    I have established myself as a leadoff batter in both leagues I play here in Sebring Florida which bought me chess matches with pitchers trying to box me to hit to one area or a lot of times not giving me anything in the strike zone. Senior league has these wooden boards which for a smaller player like me is huge. There are 3-4 pitchers in the legues who consistently can arc a pitch to the four corners of that wooden board.
    It’s an ongoing process with me, cat and mouse chess game waiting for a pitcher to make a mistake and I get a good swing to any field.
    Sorry for rambling but I am sure you are going thru something similar

    Could you tell us what speed you generate in your swing? I don't know if you have any device like blast that helps measure the quality of the swing. I ask this because they tell me that if you can't produce more than 77mph, you won't have enough strength and that you should first exercise your body before looking to improve your swing. Thanks for such a good video🥎🥎

    • @DLeagueBP
      @DLeagueBP  6 месяцев назад

      I added 10 to 15 mph to my exit velo simply by working on my mechanics. So the idea you need to hit the gym first is just silly to me. With that said, it depends on your goals and your current swing. If you are trying to hit bombs, then you may need to get stronger. But you can do that after, or while, you work on your mechanics.
      My typical exit velos are in the mid 80s right now, and I top 90 on good days. Since I like the state of my current swing, I have been focusing way more on strength training than mechanics. But first, I learned to hit the ball. Strength doesn't matter much if you don't know what to do with it.
      So if your swing is flawed, fix it and and then get stronger. If you swing is good, then hit the gym. Just my opinion. Everyone has their own approach. Good luck!

I had a lot of power when I first started playing softball at the age of 60. 2 years later I just lost it and I'm struggling to get it back. Thanks. The Swing Makeover has a lot of videos about throwing your hands. For me personally, this drill helped most.
      ruclips.net/video/ULkQypAdbhw/видео.html
      Set the tee out far enough in front of you so that you have to extend properly to hit it back up the middle. The drill gives instant feedback and focuses mostly on your hands. Start high, and throw your hands right through the ball. And put a folded towel under your knee! Start with one set of 10 and then keep at it

      A couple additional thoughts on the machine. It definitely will help your swing mechanics. You can use it to practice timing things like hip rotation and throwing your hands. But it is not a substitute for live pitching BP. The only way to improve game swing timing (when to start a swing) is with full distance pitching, live or a machine, like the blue flame (requires a second person to operate)
