Hi Mari, I work on a renal ward and was just wondering about the nurse to patient ratio. Some days we can have like 11 patients to care for it is quite rare I look after six it's alot to manage with all the paperwork aswell. How many patients do you all care for guys or am I just not experienced enough?

11 patients are a lot, but it really does depend on the level of patients you are caring for. There are so many variables. I normally have 6/7 sometimes 8 (providing ward based care). I have been in situations where I was caring for around 11 patients and it was not great. I’ve seen nurses with 10+ years’ experience struggle with patient workload.

I have a question: were there any tests you had to take before starting the nursing degree? Like how med students have to take ucats or bmats?

There isn't, I believe its to do with the ucas points the university requires you to have as well as doing a relevant subject at 'A' level.

Sorry, I have another question if you don't mind asking. I'm currently in Year 12 and am considering nursing. Did you just do the Nursing BSc or did you also have to do a PgDip to become registered? Can you be registered just doing a BSc?

The pgdip is for those who already have a previous degree. Yes, once you complete a bsc in nursing you will become a registered nurse. I cover this all and more in this video ruclips.net/video/CFVRtf1gQdA/видео.html
