Grappling/Wrestling my mother art too, state, national and world level - Agree with ya Coach, IMHO crying is okay after or before the contest, but not during... I personally look down on combatants crying during a contest. Only had one student do that while I was in their corner, it was embarrassing. He went on to do ok, but like u said, we must channel that energy, joy, cortisone levels etc. In the end we still love our athletes especially when they have the emotional investment, content, to cry and take their craft as serious as we do ~
