Fender needs to throw something into the metal market, especially with their basses, Ibanez basses are cool but their electronics suck so much ass, to me at least. In terms of aesthetic they're pretty nice but the sound is just meh, playability is indeed great, the necks are so fast.
@@DaxterZA There are reasons I play Ibanez basses primarily (3 of my 4 are Ibanez). I'm about to trade my 5 string for a Squier J-bass and am likely going to buy one of the 75th Anniversary J-basses, but the cost of entry on basses on comparable quality between Ibanez and Fender is night and day, which is a shame for Fender because their instruments are worth playing. If I'm looking at my budget, though, I'm absolutely going with an Ibanez just about every time.
18:54 Hey Patrick, thanks for including me and my RD! Yeah, it’s the one with the Moog bright/compression switches though I don’t use them. Just the basic sound of both pickups on full and both EQ knobs cranked is enough to flatten buildings!
@@BOBANDVEG there is plenty to be had. It depends on what is available where you live, is there a good second hand market? What do you like in terms of music, classic, jazz, rock, metal etc?
I also own a Cort B5 and they really are some of the best quality basses you can buy at that price range! Really hope Patrick gets one of these to do a review on it one day. Almost like a budget bass series 🤘
What really caught my attention was that Aria Pro II, great looking bass! The Aria Pro II was my first real pro bass and I kept mine for many years and had zero fails.
ending the video on the gibson was the right move, so gorgeous and def needs to be brought back into the main line if gibson wants to truly redeem their name...also, ive never enjoyed any seymour duncan pickups on guitar or bass, apparently, im alone on that sentiment.
glad to see people are giving squier basses some love, i recently "downgraded" from my cort b4 plus to a cv 60s jazz and i'm positive that with a few mods, i'll take it to the grave! :D
Cool video, Patrick. My favorite ones the Ibanez basses, the schecter c4, The sterling bass, and the cort bass. I have an Ibanez bass myself and it is awesome. Especially since I’ve got it modded with bartolini electronics. I also liked the aria bass, the Harley Benton bass, and the fender bass you showed first.
I've never seen this kind of vid before, killer content, as so few youtubers do this. Perhaps I'll be brave enough to sent you a pic of my current fave bass.
A lotta spicy meatballs in this episode for sure! Fender 24 all black and the 62 ri with 75's seafoam green...I mean, fogeddaboutit! And then there was.......
Patrick, I’m a big Rickenbacker nut, it is by far IMO the greatest bass. It’s the reason I switched to Bass. I want to tell you, before you shell out the money, if you really like your Ric copy, you will LOVE a real Rickenbacker. If you don’t like the copy at all, you will be very disappointed. The copies don’t really compare, but... I’m telling you, there is NO WAY you will love a Ric, if you hate the copy. I hope this makes sense. Cheers, I really enjoy you’re show. Keep up the good work.
The way I see it is that instead of spending a shit tone of money on a Rickenbacker I could buy some original Ricky pick-ups and slap them into a bass kit and have it finished however I want, I love how they look and sound but I'd rather have it this way lmao.
I need you to do a series for project basses. I have some cool basses that I've modded in unique ways, but they aren't my desert island bass. Just a thought.
Haha wow I Have that same Red Schecter (mine is an ‘06) and to this day I love that thing. Not the most spectacular or over the top instrument but it looks great, plays fantastic, and has a really great flexibility for under $500, probably even less these days.
A couple of comments, calling a Sound Gear bass an Ibanez is like calling a Squier bass a Fender, or calling a sterling bass a Music Man. No, the parent company is not the brand, yes they are the parent company, but they are not the brand.
Bet the Stingray got hit with some serious import tax when he got back home to Australia, unless he took a cheap bass/case out to America with him 👀 (oh yeah I had the bass with me when I left!)
It's def better seated than standing, it doesn't want to stay in one place so much, but I don't mind--I barely touch my other basses, unless I want fretless. I don't even really play the 5-string much because the "DB" in the name means "Drop B" tuner, and I can pre-set the E string to drop from E directly to any note B through Eb. So much fun to play!
Dude celebrates his fellow bass players. Incredible.
That matte black fender jazz bass just does it for me. That getting re-released would get me to stray from Ibanez land.

Agreed, but the fact that you can get a very nice Ibanez for the price of a standard Fender bass still bothers me...

It baffles me that you only have 40k subs, your videos are more entertaining than any other bass channel I’ve watched

Dimarzio's model P pickups are the best P bass pickups I've tried.
High output and super punchy!
With proper gain staging you can do the vintage p or something high gain.
And they’re ceramic magnet too... Take that alnico cork sniffers 😂😂😂
That Oceans on Mars band is pretty sick!
Thanks dude!
Great content. I can't stop watching these then immediately afterwards searching the internet for another bass to add to my collection..
I play guitar, but I'm looking for an inexpensive (like really inexpensive , $200) bass. Any suggestions?

In that order lol.
Yeah we got pawnshops , but they never have much. Things like craigslist sux in small towns
@@BOBANDVEG my first bass was an Ibanez gsr200 and it’s such a good bass for the price, it is around 200$

I just got some relentless pickups installed. I love them. They kick ass and GRIND with a hint of gain
One of my favorite episode
Very cool Warwick Corvette
Fair play: Sting makes every bass look rad.
Loads of Dimarzio's in this episode. What i've heared they are awesome if you like that "mid punch"
I agree. That’s also why I have Dimarzios in my Basses!!
What really caught my attention was that Aria Pro II, great looking bass! The Aria Pro II was my first real pro bass and I kept mine for many years and had zero fails.
Damn, if I had known there was gonna be a new episode I would've sent a picture of my white MusicMan StingRay. Hopefully next time
"Muso" is a common term for a Musician in Australia. Cheers.
I love that blacked out jazz 1st one
Patrick you gotta get you a mid 90s rickenbacker 4003. They are sick and you’ll love the necks they were making back then. Great content. Keep it up
Chef's kiss, great episode!

Yo man, I love Dimarzio Model P's. It keeps that p bass mids but it also does the high gain thing really well.
You can also nail vintage P territory with volume and tone knob adjustments.

Those Ibanez SR670's are awesome. I bought one and unfortunately mine had electronic faults so it went back but it was so good to play

Yes bro, get a damn stingray already!!!!
Im a sucker for white stingray pickups
Have you demo’d a G&L SB-2
Cort Basses are nice but i dont get why the basically place the controls right beside the pickup
how do we send photos in of our basses? I am new here :)
Watch the very end of the video, he includes instructions.
demo of HB HB-60 pls (:
16:23 Didn't know that Patrick had Italian blood in him.
Hey patrick, do you dismiss the basses that were sent to you until this video or you include some of them in your next video ? :)
I sent in the TMB30 in this video back in May 2020 so...

Gotta hit him up on Gmail. He provided the address in one of the previous videos (he may have here too, but I missed it if so)
Patrick how I show off my bass?
i'm waiting for someone to show their 11 string headless zon bass..
Do people outside of Australia not say 'musos' ?

Another example is LTD is the sub level of ESP. Do not call an LTD Bass an ESP because it's not an ESP bass.
Why does warrick bass angle the tuners, I hate that look.....
Easier to reach when tuning.
I'm not gonna lie I was very skeptical when you shaved your head but you've got a Nolly thing going on.
Oh yeah video was tight too
So, Patrick...when are you going to buy me a bass? :D
You'll love and hate your Steinberger bass very cool but strangely off while seated on a strap not as much
