TOPIC OF THIS VIDEO:
1: Tilt Up Bottom
This shot is often used in Hollywood movies because it looks so cinematic and it is great to reveal a scene. Why not using a GoPro and a gimbal for this kind of shot and include it in your cinematic GoPro travel videos?
2: Drone POV
One of the most spectacular GoPro shots you can get nowadays. Take your gimbal and tilt your GoPro Hero 7 sidewards in each curve. This makes it look like a FPV drone shot and it's very cool for your GoPro Hero 7 travel videos.
3: Turn Around
This cinematic GoPro Hero 7 gimbal move is great for 2 things; as a shot itself and as the first part of a transition. I am going to show you both possibilities you have with this cinematic move!
4: Passing Objects
This is by far my favorite shot in this video because it looks so Sam Kolder like. Take your gimbal and your GoPro Hero 7 and pass with it objects very close and fast. This will look so cinematic and it will highly improve your GoPro Hero 7 travel videos.
5: Motion Time Lapse
Also a very cinematic way to improve your GoPro Hero 7 travel videos. I shortly explain you how to get your cinematic gimbal shot, it is very easy.
6: Bike
If you have a bike you can use it to speed up your cinematic GoPro Hero 7 gimbal moves for your GoPro travel videos. Just mount yourself on the bike and film the stuff you want to film. Like that you will get a much faster camera movement which results in a more cinematic look.
7: Sky
The typical Miami Beach palm tree shot. I show you how it's done with your gimbal, it's pretty simple and it looks very cinematic, so it's a great camera movement you should include in your cinematic GoPro travel videos.
8: Tilt up
This shot is a combination between gimbal shot 1 and gimbal shot 7. It is also a very cinematic one which you can easily include in your GoPro travel videos. I explain you in the video exactly how to do that.
9: Rise
By far the easiest shot but not less cinematic. Just lift your gimbal with the GoPro (Hero 7) up while filming and that's it.
10: Reveal
This shot is great to make cinematic transitions for you GoPro travel videos. Just place your gimbal close to any object and move it fast backwards. Like that you will get the cinematic reveal effect.

Jan Klaeui Thanks a lot and used your trick of holding the Selfie and turning round the area and doing 4-5 locations and then cutting it to keep me in frame and change in background. Once edited will share the video..I have lots to learn in editing too as a beginner. Bought Final Cut Pro X and did tutorials online and this was result of first video posted on 15 Aug. I know you used a GoPro Hero 7 here, but with the Hero 8, everyone says you don't need a gimbal anymore because the in-camera stabilization is so good. However, I wonder how you would get any of the shots you demonstrated without a gimbal? Gimbals are still useful, right?
Yes they are still useful, but not necessary on the 7 or 8:)
Great gimbal moves! Hope I can try them out soon with my Karma Grip gimbal.
By the way, did you record this in Linear or Wide mode on your GoPro?

That was a tricky move balancing the gimbal without a tripod base. Last time I did that a strong wind blew my gimbal and iphone and threw it off a ledge more than 4 meters. They both miraculously survived but I am never doing that again. Btw nice video!

Thank you Jan for several tips for cinematic effects in video editing. The thing is i'm still using hero 5 and the stability of it is quite shakey. I can't really maximize your tips for cinematic effects when Im travelling because of it. Planning to buy gimbal to compensate for that. Haha. More tips for cinematic effect in hero 5 please.
Maybe it's time to upgrade it to the 8 as soon as it comes out :D
