@@SummersideDiver I'd love my own R2 or Protocol droid, but when you see some of the droids in development for the military they are horrifying and I doubt they'd follow Asimov's laws of robotics.
Which material to pick from JLC3DP if I order parts there? Is LEDO 6060 Resin good enough, or should I go with something else? I plan static prop, only head will move with servo. Thank you!
@@VanOaksProps yeah you generally get a deeper feeling effect if you go with the gloss black as it gives the metallic a reflective backing otherwise they always tend to come off plastic looking cool build tho dude.
@@pobbrett3244 in my experience the base color gives chrome paints different tone, but with a true high gloss clear over it, the chrome will be its most reflective. Standard gloss spray paint isn’t high enough gloss to really get a mirror chrome
Awesome work! I want to build a working version of one of these. Not so much an accurate reproduction visually, but I'm interested in the ratio of the parts - such as length of the legs, dimensions of the main body (as a box), head (as a box). Are there resources to get such things without purchasing the entire 3D print files or is that the best way to go to get what I need ? Thanks! really looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Awesome! Tons of parts and screws, but who would expect otherwise!
Can’t wait to see the finished product
Looking forward to seeing how the droid turns out!
If you’re ever looking for an idea, a tiki room talking/singing animatronic mask would be awesome!
Thanks for the idea!
This build is amazing!
I would love to see a motorized variant. Great job. Keep up the good work.
Kind of scary how the droids we used to see in movies as special effects props are now able to move around on their own.
It’s so awesome that they’re becoming real and autonomous. It’s a perfect example of imagined art becoming reality.

@@quixoticjedi942 that is a very valid point.
Some of the droids on book of Boba fett are just Boston dynamics robot dogs with new shells
I’m ready for this 🤣 I’m thinking about doing this & adding the controllers/motors. I need a shop buddy that follows me.
That was some sound, expert advice there. Lol. Can't wait to see the finished droid. Did they use a stronger resin?
PSA stands for Pretty Short Announcement now?
It was definitely short!
Awwwww come on make it move thats would be amazing to have your own Droid
It would be, but it's quite an advanced project for me.
@VanOaksProps I know you can pull it off you do amazing work as it is
Can’t wait for part 2! This is looking really great.
Thanks!
so where is the bdx droid files on mr baddeleys download section i am scouring through them and cant find this one at all
Look in the WIP folder.
@@VanOaksProps thank you sir
@@wldone95490 did you find them, i can't find the wip folder at all. Do you know where to find it?
After this you'll have to make a decorated steam deck to control it like they do in the park
A buddy sent me photos of them today!

The 6060 resin is what I went with and it’s been great so far.
@@VanOaksProps Thank you!!
I know I’m probably stating the obvious but did you use a gloss black undercoat before applying the metallic spray paint ??
Nope. It’s more of a satin, but I wasn’t going for a bright chrome finish.

I love the Brian cameo 😂
😮
Nice work, as always! Look forward to seeing it when it's completed!
Can’t wait to see this little guy finished up!!! What a great project!
Can you give a ballpark price range of what you spent on 3rd party printing?
I don’t know for sure because the video sponsor covered the total cost. You can see the cost during the upload process.

@@VanOaksProps Thanks very much! I think yours and theirs will be my very first Patreon subscriptions. Thanks! Have a great weekend!
These droids are one of those things that need to grow on me like the GONK did after I build one. That commercial break was hilarious. Thanks for vid!
Probably should have waited. Many of these parts have changed and updated to be more accurate. Trying to be first on everything has its consequences.
I know. I just couldn’t help myself 🤣
I wanna build a droid depot scale one but yeah I'm waiting for a bit till people have more of a chance to perfect the designs
