I know, and Scootaloo is probably the only Pegasus that can't fly, because plot. Still, it can be nice to pretend the writers actually know what they're doing.
I think both Rainbow dash and Fluttershy would make great teachers for Scotaloo because Rainbow dash and teacher her to be tough caring for her friends and being aware of when to pull through tough challenges, while Fluttershy can teach Scotaloo to be patient and have a more gentle understanding that you can be tough but you need to start easy with flying. Overall Fluttershy can be the basic training, while Rainbow can teach Scotaloo tricks together they can help Scotaloo

However a Fluttershy and Scootaloo episode for season 9 would be fantastic especially if Scootaloo finds out she is permanently disabled. I think Fluttershy would help Scootaloo accept herself after a blow like finding out a disability is permanent. I want Scootaloo to remain disabled as that would make her one of the best disabled characters in media I have ever seen.

Now this is an interesting theory, Dr., and one I'd much like to see in action. I'm not simply saying this because Fluttershy is one of my favorite ponies, but because you bring up an excellent case on their similarities. Both Scootaloo and Fluttershy know what it's like to struggle against the seemingly impossible, and what it feels like to be looked down upon and ostracized by your peers, feeling like what you do will never be good enough. They also both have loving, caring friends who help them realize they're more than what they limit themselves by, and are stronger than they believe themselves to be. Now, I love the sisterly dynamic between Rainbow and Scootaloo, but it would be really nice to see more interaction between Scoot and Flutters, especially since we haven't seen much of Fluttershy and the Crusaders interacting since Season 1.
This video reminds me of a comic I read shortly after the end of season 3. Twilight after getting wings reds a book on flight mechanics. Rainbow comes up with Scootaloo says "You can'nt lean to fly from a book". Scootaloo looks at the book and says "Oh, so that's what I'm doing wrong." She the zips straight up.
funny enough, doc, I made a fanfiction involving Fluttershy and Scootaloo. It's not similar to the topic in the video where Scootaloo looks up to Fluttershy. But rather, the story (a sequel to a mini-comic, not made by me) deals with Fluttershy trying to hide a huge secret from Scootaloo while also taking care of her in spirit, but scootaloo finds out. I call it a fluttermom story just for the giggles. lol. But as for the video itself, I like it. Fluttershy as a mentor would be an interesting change instead of Rainbow Dash.
I could see it, given Fluttershy's gentle, patient, and caring nature, familiarity with constant internal and external struggle, and increased confidence over the years. If Dash hadn't accepted the "adoptive big sister" role or let Scoots down too hard, it'd make sense for Fluttershy to step in, especially if she saw/overheard/heard about Scootaloo crying by herself somewhere. The question is, how would Fluttershy react to that "I. CAN'T. FLY!" outburst and similar times where Scootaloo gives up hope of ever flying? Would she support those fears by saying something like, "well, that's okay, everypony's special in their own way, and we love you the same", which might hinder Scootaloo if the possibility of flight is really there given enough time and/or effort, or would she try to help Scootaloo get past that crippling fear by being more like, "don't give up hope yet! You're still so young and have come so far!", or a bit of both acceptance of the fact that Scootaloo may never fly and encouragement to keep trying anyway just in case she can? Also, how motivating can Fluttershy be naturally to somepony like Scootaloo who has big dreams of being some kind of amazing aerial stunt performer like RD? But honestly, I think that while this is great food for thought, I firmly believe that a better question would be. "What if Scootaloo looked up to Fluttershy too?" In other words, what if Fluttershy became a big role model for Scootaloo _in addition to_, rather than _instead of_, Rainbow Dash? The friendship dynamic between Dash and Fluttershy could play out in a whole new way with them potentially competing with each from time to time (perhaps even all-too-often, leading to a huge blow-up-and-forgiveness episode) over how Scootaloo should be looked after and guided. Plus if it works out, Scootaloo could improve a lot more, and certainly in less time I'd wager, from both working together than she could from either guiding her by themselves. That's just me though. Anyway, this was another great video Doc. Thanks for posting!
This does not work because Scootaloo is fully aware that Fluttershy is a VERY CAPPABLE pegasus; with her "limitation" on effective wingpower being entirely mental, not physical (a good example of this was when she got mad in S2E02 and pulled a baloon carrying Twilight & Applejack, matching Rainbow Dash [who was pushing a lighter cloud and similar weight with Rarity & Pinkie Pie]).
It's very true that at times Scootaloo is the better teacher for Rainbow Dash, but if Flutter Shy were to help out Scootaloo by teaching her to fly........ well I would no question love to see where the story went
I mean I thing either one works. Sometimes we admire people because we relate to them, other times we admire people because we want to be them, even if we never can. The former is Scoot looking up to Fluttershy and the latter is Scoot looking up to Rainbow Dash.
Heavily disagreeing here. 3:43 just put yourself in Rainbow's shoes. Scootaloo just didnt understand because she is in a whole different parent situation, but if I was rainbow dash, My reaction whoud be the same. Also, the whole point of this video is really bad, but I think thats just my opinion.
I really hope Scootaloo never learns to fly. At this point it would just be the problematic old literary trope of the disabled kid getting magically cured at the end when she "deserves" it enough.
that's an interesting concept for a story. i doubt theywill do it, but i'd like to see an episode like that explored in the future. has a lot of protential
I don't think Scootaloo has quite outgrown her reckless streak enough to change mentors yet. Besides, I think Scootaloo still cares a bit to much about looking and seeming cool to want to change mentors. Now that I'm really thinking about it, Scootaloo's lack of patience would have made Fluttershy reaching out to her and initiating the mentor-mentee relationship herself difficult. Furthermore, aren't mentors supposed to learn from the mentees as much as the mentees learn from them? Granted, Dash seems to be learning more from Scootaloo than the other way around, so I do see your point. However, if Scootaloo changes mentors, then who or what is going to motivate Dash to smooth out her rough edges? Hold on. Let me try something else. Okay, Scootaloo tends to show her admiration for Dash rather excessively, but Dash has always taken it in stride. I'm trying to picture Scootaloo treating Flutters the same way, and all I'm seeing is a very uncomfortable and creeped out Fluttershy. 🤔 There are just so many variables to these relationships outside of who would be a better role model for Scootaloo.
The CMC _do_ know about Fluttershy being bullied: It was the reason Dash raced for her in the flashback of 'The Cutie Mark Chronicles.' And Fluttershy continued to be the target of bullying for a long time. I also agree that Fluttershy would make a great mentor because she remembers what it felt like to put forth so much effort to fly better, although she does have the instinct to fly well when critters' lives are on the line. That combination of remembering the effort and having to face ridicule from her peers could easily make Fluttershy the better mentor for Scootaloo. And I do believe that wing size has nothing at all to do with a Pegasus's ability to fly, since Tirek proved that Pegasus flight is a magic-born ability -- and all magic in Equestria is affected by one's emotions, as well as one's image of success or failure. And Scoots is unfortunately so used to failing while waiting for her wings to grow in that she likely defaults to imagining failure most of the time.
I do have an idea of how "Flight To The Finish" should have ended, Scootaloo finally took her pride and her surprise finally flew. After her first flight, Scootaloo then taunts Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon for bullying her. That would change the entire series when Scootaloo actually flies. It would change everything from the time the CMC get their cutie parks to the season eight finale.
Such out of left field, but scootaloo looking up to fluttershy made me think of the comic/story "Sorry I couldn't Be There for You" where fluttershy is secretly the mother of scootaloo.
It wouldn’t hurt to give it a try. Flutter shy has been a more grounded pony despite begin a Pegasus and yet she could still offer promise. Plus given what Scootaloo is going through what Dash couldn’t offer perhaps what is needed is a different approach.
Fluttershy IS probably the best choice....because she has had Trouble in her filly past about her being a slow and weak flyer I think it'd be a cute episode
I think you just inspired me to think that maybe a good episode to see would be Scootaloo, Flutershy and Rainbow Dash might get called to Cloudsdale by the map where as Pegasus's they're all forced to to recognise the other 2's strengths in ways they previously never considdered. But then that would lead to an Apple Jack Pinky pie and Apple Bloom episode somewhere maybe the Crystal Empire as well as a Twilight, Rarity and Sweetie Bell episode presumebly in Canterlot? Although if you really wanted to mix things up, throw in each other the three Princesses in each episode, and not necessarily where you might expect each of them to naturally be?
It's an interesting concept Dr. I mean both Fluttershy and Scootaloo do share a lot of common traits, both Fluttershy and Scootaloo have been bullied before, both Fluttershy and Scootaloo are weak fliers, and both can get timed at times. However, having Fluttershy teaching Scootaloo how to fly might be a challenge, for one thing Fluttershy can barely speak at times, and at times she tends to raise her voice if she gets ignored, that and Scootaloo I don't know if she has enough patience to listen to Fluttershy?
@@smartfrenandromax6651 Not too mention, Fluttershy also flew fast enough a couple of times, once to catch up with Rainbow Dash in Return of Harmony part two, and once again in Hurricane Fluttershy. I'd say if this concept was ever to take shape the right way, it'll have to be someone special and that someone has to also look back at what made both Fluttershy and Scootaloo great characters.
My guess if Scootaloo started learning to fly from Fluttershy; • Scootaloo learns from Fluttershy to hover. • Fluttershy learns from Scootaloo to be outspoken and more able to get others' attention. Scootaloo would still not be able to fly, but would be able to lift themself of the ground for a few minutes at a time, and maintain altitude relative to sea level from the start of their hover, allowing them to cross small pits. Getting a running, or scooting, start would also allow them to carry the entirety of that momentum into the hover at the cost of ease of steering; the faster they're going, the wider they'd turn, and the more they'll drift. Fluttershy would be able to speak up and let people know what she has to say, but… she still wouldn't easily be able to asert her stand if someone disagrees with her. She'd still be timid and non-confrontational, but she'd now at least say her mind instead of watching her friends bicker, in the hopes it ends the conflict; if it doesn't, she at least would've tried at least once. Though I'm way behind, so Fluttershy might have already obtained that skill…
Opposites do attract (in non-romantic terms obviously). You don't have to look any farther than Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy themselves to see that. It's clear from Flutter Brutter that Rainbow and Fluttershy spent a lot of time together as kids, to the point where Fluttershy's very shy parents are completely comfortable around her, and Fluttershy's brother thinks she has a crush on him. Fluttershy and Scootaloo could definitely get along. Their mutual admiration of Rainbow could be a starting point to build off of.
You do have a point Doc, there definitely is potential for an interesting story to be told here, and there are also ways to do it without having to repeat plot points from the washouts as well. However, if it were to happen I see it only being for a single moment or episode and not permeant thing sense from a narrative standpoint as the way things are now Dash kind of needs Scootaloo, perhaps even more then the other way around. I don't expect that massive ego of Dash to go away anytime soon (Not wail there are still gags that it can be used for) I do think that Scoot is supposed to serve as a way to keep it in check whenever she chooses to confront her about it.
I never thought of that before. That was a very good theory on how that could've been the case. Of course, I still love the relationship Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash have with each other, but it would be cool if Scootaloo got a moment with Fluttershy and she could bond with her too. In fact, there should be an episode in the next season where we get to see the CMC bond with Fluttershy more and how they could relate to her over her troubles in the past. That would make for an awesome story.
That actually sounds really interesting to see Scootaloo and Fluttershy were having a older sister and younger sister relationship Flight to the Finish Fluttershy wouldn't take Diamond Tiara and Silveelrspoon Bullying her
It would've been nice for them to shift the focus from Rainbow Dash to Fluttershy once or twice. Scootaloo would probably initially be drawn to her because she was close friends with Rainbow Dash, but might slowly come around to realizing she and Fluttershy have much in common. I will say though that Rainbow Dash is not a bad teacher for Scootaloo. Scootaloo was the one being selfish in "Parental Glideance" by siding with Rainbow Dash's parents despite how embarrassing they are. Regardless of her family situation, she shouldn't think that going from one extreme to the other is okay. And in "The Washouts", while teenage angst and depression probably explains a little, she was still pretty thickheaded about not noticing the obvious danger signs. Rainbow Dash was not the only one who was trying to tell Scootaloo to think twice about her decision, but Rainbow eventually realized that sometimes being a teacher or mentor means letting the student make their own decisions even if they get hurt. I also think Fluttershy and Sweetie Belle could relate to each other, due to their love of singing while needing to overcome stage fright in order to sing in front of crowds. A plot point that for Sweetie Belle just abruptly got dropped.
I have to say this is a pretty good theory. Granted, when I read the title, I though it was a dumb idea. But when I watched the video. I'll have to agree it would have been interesting if Scootaloo looked up to Fluttershy. Going along with what was said in the video, some situations are better for different people. So yeah. I think it would have been a good idea.
Scootalo has always been one of my favorites if not#1.. We share ALOT. N'im even im jealous of the family shes trying to find hmm fluttershy as an option intresting indeed..aslong she feals n' knows Love she'll have what i can only dream of eternity passes on.... Love you Rainbow 🌈 Dashie
I think it's more like Rainbow Dash is the role model Scootaloo wants, not a teacher she needs. Watching up to Rainbow Dash, makes Scootaloo want something, she's unable to achieve. Do unbelievable flying stunts. But role models are not something, others should name for anyone. Scootaloo has a role model and that's good. And she has a goal in her life. She needs to find some ponies to achieve this goal, or to make her realize her limits. That doesn't mean, she's never going to fly, but it's going to take some time. Fluttershy is great teacher to learn about flying basics and Silverstream could teach Scootaloo about body moving during flight, if Scoot is right about swimming being like flying. So there should be many teachers for Scootaloo, but most important thing for her, is Rainbow Dash being there for her
Fluttershy may indeed be the more relatable Champion for Scootaloo, but Rainbow Dash is the end goal; the aspiration. Without that, where would Scoot’s character development come from?
Hmm interesting thought I however love the sister team of Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo Rainbow shows her best self when she’s with her but she does need to actually teach her more to help her in life and teach her lessons. Fluttershy can do that for her but their different personalities could clash but then again it still could work. Nice theory Doc
An interesting exploration Mr. Wolf. A different commenter mentioned that Scoots is sort of copying Rainbow. There's definately a focus on flying, which is good for dramz, but not necessarily Scootaloo. There's not been much flight progression for her, likely because cartoon characters are agelocked in their corporeal bodies. I'd like to point out that it's not exactly clear what the CMC's cutie marks are, practically, beyond being shields and it having something to do with helping other ponies. The vaguery around whether Scootaloo has a disability really only manifests when she compares herself to Rainbow, which is to say that she doesn't have a disability when she's with the CMC or really doing anything else other than trying to copy RD. Trying to be like the other pegasi when her friends (Dash being a rolemodel) aren't pegasi? Or maybe more like she is _the_ pegasi of the CMC, and thus feels that's her role despite it obviously not being her role since she can't actually fly and already has her mark. In conclusion; isn't Scoots RD's mentor? Swear that Rainbow learns more from their episodes.
well Scootaloo does look up to Rainbow Dash as a Sisterly role model But I'd think Scootaloo should look up more to Fluttershy as the motherly role model to her I'd hope somewhere in season 9 or 10 we'd get that possibility
The show seems to have a habit of not exploring other character pairs, especially outside of the Mane 6. Starlight, for example, is exclusively paired up with Trixie, Sunburst, or Twilight, in order of frequency (and yes, Maud should also be on that list, but when was the last Starlight/Maud episode?). Back in season 6 with the derby racing episode "The Cart Before the Ponies," after the crash and the Crusaders said they wanted to mix things up and _not_ go for the awards they would typically get, I was hoping they would pair up with other siblings, i.e. Applebloom wanted to win Fastest, so she pairs up with Rainbow Dash for a change. But they just stayed with their respective sisters. The point I'm getting at is a Scootaloo/Fluttershy episode would be very interesting, but I don't think it's going to happen any time soon.
I'm sorry to ask a question as a thing to do with the topic at hand but I Could Use some advice. I'm someone who one day aspires to create content on RUclips don't expect to become anything big it's just something I'd like to try and do. The problem is my voices and monotone kind of a motionless even when I tried put emotion in it and is not the most flattering. What would you suggest to people like me who just don't like their voices ?
Then Scootaloo would've tried to convince Fluttershy that her brother doesn't need to work and that Fluttershy is somehow wronging him. What? Scootaloo did that to RD after her parents abused her.
I will admit when I first saw this video I was skeptical, on the terms that you mentioned at the beginning Scoots is like a mini RD loud, can be obnoxious, loves to do crazy stunts, etc. and I was thinking to myself yeah and what if Twilight Sparkle wasn't a bookish-nerd but rather a jock. I decided that I would watch the video anyways as you have always had good content in the past, and I was right, you weren't going so much for a total character shift as I had initially feared, but more for an episode possibility (maybe S9 will do something) anyways you could totally write something following this premise and I would definitely read it. As Always I am ilvbrownies and I look forward to seeing more content from you.
can we get seperate shows that are all the same but a different mentor for Scoots. scootloo and Rainbow Dashes relation ship is one of my favorite parts of MLP and I love the idea of scootloo with different mentors and how that would change her. SCOOTLOO BEST FILLE AND POTENTIALLY BEST PONY.
If scootaloo looked up to fluuter like rainbow then she would no longer be Scootaloo. Her character and upbringing that made her the character which made it inevitable that she would admire rainbow so much. Im not saying that it is impossible for a character similiar to scoots to admire flutters like scoots does rainbow but you would still have to change her character at least a bit to make it work. Then again i do believe in hard determinism so think of my opinion what you have too.
I still do believe that Rainbow Dash isn’t really a good role model for Scootaloo. Sure, they both love daredevilry, but Rainbow’s massive ego is too much of a hindrance.
BNuts Short answer: no Long answer: not really unless you don’t like becoming a meme and ppl start constantly making their comments begin with “But (insert your name here)” lol :P
Well aside from the subjectivity of your viewpoint. You haven’t given any solid points to make this scenario believable. Fluttershy can fly she’s just very shy and timid when it comes to competitive or show-off type of events. Rainbow Dash has been bullied and teased as well. Just look at “Sonic Rainboom” or “Newbie Dash”. When it came to “Flight to the Finish” it was Rainbow who helped give her the push to get better. By the time of “Rainbow Falls” and “The Equestria Games” who was it who helped coach her into getting ready for the event? Rainbow Dash. In terms of “The Washouts” I think you missed the point of the episode. Sure, I’ll admit that Rainbow has been negligent in this episode and is similar in the past. But the point was the Washouts served as a compromise or shortcut for Scootaloo to fulfil her dreams and server with a popular stunt group like her idol Rainbow. Hopefully I can explain this to u further should u feel the need to respond.
Scootaloo better be able to fly by the end of season 9... I mean Spike's finally gotten his wings, we've seen foals younger then her flying, and her Cutie Mark is a wing for crying out loud. It would be literally insulting to Scootaloo's character if she never gains the ability to fly.
@@rambletash the show has never stated that she was disabled. That's all head canon from the fandom... the closest thing to it ever being stated, was when Scootaloo told RD that she cant fly, but even then, that can be taken as either her saying she physically cant fly, or she simply doesn't know how to. And who would get insulted because a character like Scootaloo finally managed to achieve a goal she's had her entire life?
I imagine that if Scootaloo took more after Fluttershy, she wouldn't have the reckless tendencies she inherited from Rainbow Dash.
I want to know how Bulk Biceps can fly, but not Scootaloo.
Proof wing size has nothing at all to do with a Pegasus's ability to fly. It's magic, which is why Tirek was able to siphon it.
I would say that if Scootaloo decided early on to set her sights on Fluttershy, that Fluttershy would be the one who would change the most.
It is kind of funny that Spike learned to fly before Scootaloo did. 😋
There are just so many variables to these relationships outside of who would be a better role model for Scootaloo.
Ah, I've always love what ifs
Is this one of the things Celestia knows about Fluttershy that we don't?
I hope that in season 9 we get some concrete answers on Scootaloos home situation
people follow what they want to become, not what they afeel related to
It's an interesting concept Dr.
Great idea Dr. Wolf 🐺 I would love to see an episode like this 🐺
I love the videos you make
My guess if Scootaloo started learning to fly from Fluttershy;
• Scootaloo learns from Fluttershy to hover.
Well the shows over so I mean this idea is dead
You know what I'm going to say right?
No?
FANFICTON TIME!!!!!
it can't happen so i didn't thought about this.
Fanfic writers! To your keyboards!
Have you tried reading Lessons in Generosity by PaulAsaran.
It's where Rarity mentors Scootaloo
So there should be many teachers for Scootaloo, but most important thing for her, is Rainbow Dash being there for her
When will be seeing your top ten list for season 8?
Fluttershy may indeed be the more relatable Champion for Scootaloo, but Rainbow Dash is the end goal; the aspiration. Without that, where would Scoot’s character development come from?
love 😊 awesome ❤
There should be an episode where scootaloo looks to fluttershy now
i think that your theory is good fluttershy would indeed be a good teacher for scootaloo. As she is down to earth something scoots is at times.
I'm sure Scoots will fly in Season 9. It's an Autobot guarantee.
...maybe not
Hmm interesting thought I however love the sister team of Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo Rainbow shows her best self when she’s with her but she does need to actually teach her more to help her in life and teach her lessons. Fluttershy can do that for her but their different personalities could clash but then again it still could work. Nice theory Doc
Makes sense since Fluttershy couldn't fly when she was a filly and scootaloo can't fly at all
An interesting exploration Mr.
Tara sees your vid: ....HEY GUYS I GOT A NEW EPISODE IDEA!
well Scootaloo does look up to Rainbow Dash as a Sisterly role model But I'd think Scootaloo should look up more to Fluttershy as the motherly role model to her I'd hope somewhere in season 9 or 10 we'd get that possibility
Scootaloo can already fly. Just because it's different from other pegasi doesn't mean she can't.
Did you get that idea from your last dramatic reading "Magical Mystery Cure: What's Wrong with the World?"?
I'm sorry to ask a question as a thing to do with the topic at hand but I Could Use some advice. I'm someone who one day aspires to create content on RUclips don't expect to become anything big it's just something I'd like to try and do. The problem is my voices and monotone kind of a motionless even when I tried put emotion in it and is not the most flattering. What would you suggest to people like me who just don't like their voices ?
May I suggest watching "DRWolf's How to RUclips"?
@@DRWolf001 ill look that up then, thankyou sir
I can’t honestly choose between Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, I believe they could both be great inspiration for scootaloo
Rawr I'm looking for colabs
She would crush on Discord if that was true
Scoots no
Hi Dr.Wolf
You can called "Littlepip" or just "Pip"
You and MasakoX need to do a collab.
I still do believe that Rainbow Dash isn’t really a good role model for Scootaloo. Sure, they both love daredevilry, but Rainbow’s massive ego is too much of a hindrance.
Doc, be careful with "what if's" or you end up like like, MasokoX.
But Dr.wolf...
.... MaRkEtInG
Why is that a bad thing?
BNuts Short answer: no
Long answer: not really unless you don’t like becoming a meme and ppl start constantly making their comments begin with “But (insert your name here)” lol :P
@@BNuts It was just a joke, i love stuff he is doing on his Channel.
I would suggest Big Bell.
Big Bell is a pegasus pony who joined the Appleloosa buckball team.
She looks like a female form of Bulk Biceps.
👍

At 3:48 - 3:51, don’t you mean “Parental Glideance”?
What if Scootaloo looked up to Princess Cadence? They are both orphans.
I'm sorry. what....?

I'm going to have to mostly disagree with you here doc.
Fluttershy is best mom.................................but Luna is also best mom......help ;w;
Scootaloo better be able to fly by the end of season 9... I mean Spike's finally gotten his wings, we've seen foals younger then her flying, and her Cutie Mark is a wing for crying out loud.
It would be literally insulting to Scootaloo's character if she never gains the ability to fly.
Draconicus the Reaper not to mention flurry heart?
@@epicfights7898 Flurryheart goes under the category of "other foals".
The show portrays her as disabled for her ability to fly. It would be literally insulting to real disabled kids watching if she DID learn to fly.
Her cutie mark is a wing because she uses it as a motor to power her scooter.
