Happy fruitful year,I'm beyond excited! In just one week I'll be debt-free, having paid off my entire $285,000 debt and begun a new chapter of financial freedom.
10 yrs ago when my husband and I took a trip to go see my dad and his side of the family, I packed food already made. I made stuffed burritos, snacks, brought along drinks and sandwich makings. My dad raved about those burritos for years lol and he was impressed with my savings on food
@janamarek package of the burrito size tortillas, 1 pound cooked seasoned (garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, paprika, salt, oregano, cayenne powder) ground beef, 1 can refried beans, favorite Shredded cheese I used Mexican blend, cooked Spanish rice. Smear tortillas with refried beans layer on season ground beef, rice, cheese and if desired salsa. Roll up into burrito wrap in foil if saving for later. Heating instructions: in skillet 1 tbsp oil med heat fry on both sides to get a golden color. If doing in oven leave in foil set temperature to 350° bake 20-25 minutes . Serve with guacamole, sour cream, and salsa.
I heard (briefly) on the radio that the trend this past holiday season was to stay with family and not in a hotel. Bring lots of food and help out with chores and that will help family and save you $$. All the best to us all... ✨😊✨.
Husband and I went on our first no kids vacation in three years last weekend. $20 extra a night for a room with a kitchenette is cheaper than eating out three meals a day, and I meal prepped so we didn’t have to spend a bunch of time in the kitchen. It was such a nice weekend, and a little cheaper.
Every travel hockey tournament I bring cooked chicken and ground beef. We have tacos all weekend. I bring my small electric skillet. Cooked rice, meats, toppings, cheese. Snacks. Etc. We spend $0 on our tournament weekends on food. We eat what I already spent money on at home.
New sub! Love your videos and advice. I was with 8 man children In Gatlingburg TN last September and meal planning is the way to go. We had 3 connecting condos and cooked just about every meal. Best memories for my 2 sons and these young men that are like my sons since I’ve known them since kindergarten.
Last summer I went on a road trip with my son. It is so convenient to be able to bring a car full of things. And being together with my son for so many hours was good for our relationship.
When the kids were younger, we always packed the first meal and snacks for the trip. We saved money on renting a condo or house instead of a hotel and could save money by grocery shopping. When we did eat out, it was a treat for them because we didn’t eat out at home very much.
Wow, Christine, you really are a Frugal Fit Mom in every way! I LOVE seeing you pack all those amazing snacks and meals for the fam, saving HUGE money, while making memories with your boys! ♥ It's scary how fast the months/years fly by once they hit high school. *Blink!* They're grown-ups and it's never 'mom life' again. Safe travels, and may you and the boys enjoy every minute, momma!
Making those road trip memories with your boys. . . PRICELESS! Driving vs flying 2000 miles, flying wins, if you are paying for lodging there and back. Also extra days off work. A days drive away and staying with family for the win! Go Mom! You're the BEST Christine. ❤ Thank you!
When my wife and I did our first ever road trip I did the exact same thing I packed a cooler and she looked at me crazy. Now she expects me to pack a cooler even when we are doing a day trip! 😂😂. Meals, drinks, and snacks are expensive now!
Major score at Fred Meyer this morning. 4.5 pounds of chicken drumsticks on clearance for $2.25 each! I bought 4 packs and will divide them up and freeze them. Love your videos.
Love it!! I do all of this. Non-money benefits: healthier than McD's, you don't have to stress about where to find food while on the go, you know your kids will like what you bring. I also road trip with a 2 gallon thermos that has an easy spigot for refilling water bottles. MUCH cheaper than bottled water. Also, we have have a well, so having the thermos means I don't have to listen to complaints about how bad bottled water or city water tastes.
Great ideas for travel with hungry boys. We are traveling this weekend for an anniversary party(2seniors) so we are staying in a hotel with a breakfast offering. I’ll bring some snack and goodies for the car, water bottles, etc to minimize expenses. You need to check out the video on making homemade instant oatmeal with fruit. No artificial ingredients and I use freeze dried strawberries and apples and dried blueberries. Less than half the cost of the packaged oatmeal.
Love the Coleman cooler! My dad had one when I was young. We moved to AZ when I was 9 and every couple of years we went back to OK so in order for that to happen we had to pack food for the trip and the day before we left to come back to AZ my mom went grocery shopping for the ride home. I have carried that tradition on also and it saves us a ton of money. When we traveled with a 5th wheel it made it really easy to pack all our own food and stopping at the little rest areas without a bathroom wasn’t a problem at all.
Hi there! Great video. I was on gymnastics all through H.S. and loved it! Great job, kiddo! YES, traveling anywhere, anyhow can be super expensive indeed! For me it's all about not being prepared, ugh! Thanks for the reminder that it doesn't have to be complicated to prep! Love your chanel!
last year, i watched my cousin go from feeling completely stuck in life to absolutely thriving. they’d been talking about a book called Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane and how it wasn’t about “just think happy thoughts,” but more about getting real with yourself and your goals. at first, i didn’t pay much attention, but then they started landing dream opportunities, meeting new people, and just carrying themselves differently. it’s not some miracle story-they worked for it-but they said the book helped them focus in a way that made everything feel possible.
I love to pack a cooler for every soccer game and 2 for every tournament. Someone is always hungry even if they just ate at home before we left. For the tournament, 1 for at the field and 1 larger in the car to restock the smaller one. Lots of Gatorade, water and electrolytes. Bagels and sandwiches, fruit, snacks, and maybe a treat or two. So much cheaper and healthier for all of us. Although, if my younger two can handle hanging with us all day, I have no problem grabbing them an ice cream from the snack stand at some point especially when it’s super hot. We always pack more than we need and have no problem sharing.
Wow Christine, that metal Igloo cooler is older than you are! They made things better back then. Last summer we took a budget vacation. I used frequent flyer miles on two of the four airfares, we found an AirBnB apartment, and I lucked into a free rental car. My wife made snacks and breakfast sandwiches for the plane (and the five hour car trip after we landed). We bought groceries in the local supermarket. We did have one dinner and one breakfast out, but we cooked everything else. We hiked, railbiked, and spelunked. The kids want to go back this year!
My husband and I either go with our horse trailer or camper and treated youngest granddaughter 5 yo with a truck picnic and it was her favorite meal. So fun also and economical and tastes better.
Thanks Christine! Great video! I love to pack food also and it saved so much when my family of 7 and my inlaws took a road trip to Wyoming from Ohio! That was fun to see your son competing also!
Honestly, by the time you get to the airport, check your bags, wait for your flight, fly, wait for your luggage, pick up your rental car, travel to the hotel... It's almost 9 hours anyway. 🤷🏼♀️
Love your old school Coleman cooler! We have a red one, a wedding present from 48 years ago. They are the best! Great video! Thank you!! Marion & Jan 😁👍🏼
When we traveled to the Netherlands last year, the hotel we stayed in cost 17.75 Euros per person for breakfast. We went to the grocery store, bought Dutch bread cheeses and meats. Fruit, and we were set. I bought teabags, and used the brand new coffeemaker to boil water. Awesome. We used reusable water bottles. We bought lunch and dinner. With all the stands and grocery stores, buying lunch was easy. The only meals we ate out were dinners, and even that, we saw family who fed us too. 💕 Thanks for your tips today
When we go. If hotel - eat breakfast at hotel, take a couple extra pieces of fruit. Go to restarant for dinner. Go to the grocery store as soon as I get there for lunch. I get drinking water - peanut butter, chips, bread, and snacks. I use dinner as an experience. Go somewhere that is a "vacation dinner." Unique or high rating places to eat as part of my vacation. When I went overseas for a few vacations. I always get things from the grocery store that doesn't need refrigeration. Some hotels don't have refrigetors in the rooms. They also have rooms that the electricity goes off when u leave the room.
Love your videos. I have a lot of food allergies so I have no choice but to pack my own food. I love driving. I have service dogs, so it is a lot less hassle and a huge time saver for me to drive as well. Congrats to your son on his gymnastics competition 😊
Next time you go to Vegas you need to mountain bike at my house! We live on 100 acres an hour out of Vegas on the way to Utah. I’d even make lunch for you all to save on cooler space. 😂
Oh yeah we used to do that too, with four kids and even now with the kids out of the house. Me and my husband always pack PB&js and tons of snacks and Waters and such and only once in awhile we will get a chicken sandwich But usually it's when I have a free chicken sandwich coupon from Chick-fil-A LOL. I love saving money
Including traveling to a hospital. I take some quick bites with me when I take my parents to their appointments. For them, too, when it's not going to interfere with their doctors recs
I do this for travel ball games. Last summer I had a fellow mother compliment my preparedness…prepared?? Maybe…more so frugal…and the cost of food on the road isn’t worth it to me!! Great job Christine!!
My daughter was a competitive gymnast for 4 years and my son played travel hockey. There are 7 of us. My van looked like we were moving every time we traveled. We had to stay with the teams so we always had to pay for a group rate motel room but we almost never had to eat out. I Know where you are coming from.
This is how we travel. I take sandwiches, iced tea and some snacks such as homemade muffins, nuts, homemade chips and dip. We have a property in the Western end of the state in the mountains. We take eggs or homemade pancakes I put on the stove, wraps or baked beans for lunch, chicken, pork steaks, etc for dinner.
Hey a few years ago you mentioned a little weight gain shake you’d make for your kids! What was it again? I need it for my son in his super skinny growing phase! Thank you
Starting this spring I will be traveling to and from Boston for medical care. I will have to go for 1 or 2 days a week for 6 months. I am already picking up inexpensive food items and making plans so I do not go hungry or spend outrageous amounts on eating out. As it gets closer I will be making Egg, Ham Bagel Sandwiches, and buying Yogurt and String Cheese. For right now I have gathered Crackers, and Breakfast Bars I found on clearance, Raisins that were on sale, and also on sale Energy Bars. I drink water so I won't need sodas ir juice but will take a coffee with me. I try to do this on every trip I take as eating out can be a vacation breaker
Okay, I am now addicted to Manager's Specials. Went to the store today, kinda kept to my list but then I found Manager's Specials. Luckily, I only bought two but when half off I can't resist. Cooking a whole rack of pork ribs. (instant pot then air fryer). Froze the Italian 1/2 off sausages. I love watching Christine.
I went on a road trip with my husband and in laws about a dozen years ago. My mother in law packed lunch for the road. I was in awe at what she pulled out of a bag that seemed small. It was like Mary Poppins mother in law style. Out came drinks, sandwiches, chips, fruit and even pie (she made the best). My husband and I laugh at that story all the time. She was an amazing woman. Point being making memories with family are the best memories to have.
I did competitive gymnastics when I was a kid and if we could drive to a meet that is what we did! I have driven to multiple different states for meets. Brought back some memories!
Growing up we went camping a lot but couldn't leave until after my dad was home from work, so we would eat dinner in the car. Our favorites to keep us from eating out were pizza, pizza bread(pizza topings rolled into a french bread shape), or burritos. With burritos we would make a big bowl of filling (rice, meat, beans, peppers, onions). Put some filling in each shell a little cheese, sour cream, salsa, and lettuce and wrap in tin foil.
We stay at Drury Inn if we can when we travel. They do free breakfast and a free kickback hour which is free dinner. We have saved a ton of money every time because of the two free meals there. They also give you free popcorn and free alcoholic drinks.
We pack like this for any trip. Not because we want to save a ton of money, but because of our food allergies. A vacation can be ruined really fast by getting glutened.
We're flying to FL in February and want to save money by not checking bags but you better bet I'll be packing as many snacks from the discount store as I can into our carry ons 🤣
We are choosing not to pay the fee to check the bags and it's also nice to not have to wait for them after getting off of the plane. It'll be the right choice for our short trip coming up. I'm glad checking one is a good fit for you when you fly :)
Do you have a recepie for your friut jam bars? We do this too but no family to stay with, so its Extended Stay America so we can cook all our meals. Mini Dave is a good gymnast 😊🤗
If you have regular cheese slices & say ham or other kind of meat, if you put the pickles in between the cheese & the meat, it doesn’t make your sandwich soggy. Tried & true method. 😉
i kept seeing people mention the book Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane in the comments of so many videos. at first, i thought it was just overhyped, but after seeing it pop up everywhere, i decided to give it a shot. turns out, it really is as powerful as people say. the way it explains how to align your energy with what you truly want is something i’ve never seen before. it’s not just about thinking positively-it’s about actually understanding the process of manifesting your dream life. i can see why so many people are talking about it now.
Anyone remember what video MOM made with the Black Bean Fudge bars? I've watched so many I can't find it and a search doesn't bring it up. ?? I want to make that for my wife. Thanks in advance.

How long has it taken you?
Wahooo & Congrats!! Well done!!! 😁👍🏼
Wonderful!! Welcome to debt free life
Wow, that kid is impressive! He really rocked his high bar routine. 👏👏👏
Please pass along props to your son for a great job done at his event. Thanks for sharing footage of him competing. Very impressive! 👏

We used to have picnics while on the road. Couple of times I would take thermos for hot food: soups, stews, casserole.
Could you share your stuffed burrito recipe?

People stay in a hotel to visit family??? That's odd .
I have food allergies so bringing food is a lifesaver!
Same.
Same
Same, I go out of state to work for a week at a time...I take some things and grocery shop for the rest

Immediately recognized that Green Coleman Cooler from my childhood . . . in the 1970's!
When the kids were younger, we always packed the first meal and snacks for the trip. We saved money on renting a condo or house instead of a hotel and could save money by grocery shopping. When we did eat out, it was a treat for them because we didn’t eat out at home very much.

Congratulations to your son. Gymnastics look really difficult and it looks like he put in a lot of hard work.
Okay I might have enjoyed the gymnastics & mountain biking the best! That’s was really cool to watch
Hey! He did good! Another Olympian in the making!!!
First comment! Excited to see your post on this
Love the bogg bag 😅 i bought one last summer in hot pink !! Snacks are coming in that bag and much more!! Saving 💰all summer long.
I love watching all your videos. Hope you guys have a fabulous and fun trip. ❤Your dog is so cute
My Parents had that same cooler!!! Great tips!!
love the cookie head picture 🤣
I did competitive gymnastics when I was a kid and if we could drive to a meet that is what we did! I have driven to multiple different states for meets. Brought back some memories!
I love this TFS!
How long does the cooler last for and what do you use to do so?
Plus the airline delays and cancellations are crazy anymore! No one wants to do that especially with kids 😊
Your son did great!

Spitting image of his dad.
Well done, MOMMA!!! yippee and congrats to your athlete! Nice work!
This is perfect! We're going to Florida next week!
Looks like it was an awesome trip!
We stay at Drury Inn if we can when we travel. They do free breakfast and a free kickback hour which is free dinner. We have saved a ton of money every time because of the two free meals there. They also give you free popcorn and free alcoholic drinks.
😮
Great money 💴 savings. 🤸🏻 great job
Such a helpful and wholesome video! Love it!!
Your son was amazing. 🎉
Love this content!
This saves not only money but time as well!
You are convincing me to do more road trip holidays!
I bet that sunshine felt so good!
I just do not understand not checking bags, I fly every couple of weeks and have never had any issues
We are choosing not to pay the fee to check the bags and it's also nice to not have to wait for them after getting off of the plane. It'll be the right choice for our short trip coming up. I'm glad checking one is a good fit for you when you fly :)
Awesome! :) How nice you can do that together. From a couple of thousand $ to almost nothing.
You are amazing in every way!
Do you have a recepie for your friut jam bars? We do this too but no family to stay with, so its Extended Stay America so we can cook all our meals. Mini Dave is a good gymnast 😊🤗
I used to do the same thing when my daughter would have to go to volleyball tournaments
What a fun weekend
I put pickles on nearly everything. I put them in between things, same as my mustard or mayo. Cuts down on the soggy
