With KD “maximizing” him is not about MORE it’s always been about EFFICIENCY and TIMING. Warriors did this perfectly with him. And then even pushed him to work more on Defense where he was at his best.

Kd was the luckiest forward in NBA history playing with the Warriors.
He was surrounded by multiple playmakers (Steph, dray), multiple scorers/shooters (Steph, Klay), multiple defenders (dray, Iggy, Klay). He rarely was double teamed and could score almost as if it was a practice.
If you put kawhi or Giannis in his place they average 35 ppg minimum in the 17' and 18' finals.

We’ve seen this movie already with KD. It was in Golden State. That’s where his talent was maximized. That was actually the team that was dam near unbeatable. The Raptors only won because KD, Klay, Boogie, and Dre all got seriously injured in the finals.

This is not a suns problem, this is a players problem…..the thought of “the big 3” for teams was a quick fix, (and by quick fix I mean longevity of the league, this has only been going on for about 10-15 years, so it’s a relative small sample size) it was never a feasible way to create hype around basketball, what it did was ruined the ecosystem……”small market” teams were getting non existent coverage by media, so the only option was to go after big names, whether you won or not……now these teams are stuck in a antiquated system of trying to lure topic names to join their team instead of developing talent……there’s a reason all the “small market” teams like the nuggets, pelican, timbewolves, are emerging from the depths, they realized what the rest of the teams were doing was not only not sustainable, it was a complete waste of money, so they just built through the drafted and waited it out until other teams either ran out of money or their players just got old, now there’s balance back in the league, whether ESPN chooses to cover other teams or not, real fans know either way, and I say good riddance to “big 3” basketball

The Suns made the same stupid mistake they did when they traded Marion for Shaq in 2008. They lost what they had built, to quote Steve Kerr (then Suns GM). The Suns had all the tools they needed in Booker, CP3, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Cam Payne and Deandre Ayton. All they had to do was run it back. But they got blinded by KD's trade request. Oh well, they seem to be in for longer darker days. 😂

Building a Big 3 in today's NBA will be expensive, and trading for one or two players to make a Big 3 will strip a team of all its assets. Phoenix was better off keeping the 2021 Finals team and conserving cap space to sign a point guard in free agency to replace Paul.

With 35 years of life experience, I know a thing or two about reading between the lines. When Matt Isabia says they plan to bring the starting five back, it sounds good on paper, but let's be real - it's no guarantee that all five will return next season. As I've been saying, the Suns need to inject some youth and athleticism into the center position to take the team to the next level.
5 point guards is great strategy and tactics.
