Really enjoying this series and your channel! Subscribed. Thank you for the awesome content - maybe one day I'll try a completely DIY tube amp. I've just made kits so far. :)
I don't pretend to understand tubes, but have a question. If pin 4 of the 6SN7 needs a drain to ground, why does that not apply to pin 1? Is there a source of information regarding tube wiring basics for a beginner? Really love the videos you put out, I'm learning a lot! Thanks for sharing.
These cascade and cascode type designs aren't for beginners lol. It's not that is needs a "drain to ground", the grid voltage needs to be lower or negative in relation to the cathode. In the first stage it's referenced to ground while the cathode is a volt or two positive. The second stage is fed off the plate of the first stage, which is a few volts lower than the cathode of the second stage. You will see later in this series I end up doing some drastic changes to this design.
I watched all the 300b 's video's.I'm a bit confused...Did you use the original circuit schematic with 27k ohms plate and 27 k cathode resistors on the second half of the 6sn7?
No, that was the original cascade design I started out the build using (that didn't work very well). The cascode I ended up using is here. www.skunkiedesigns.com/300b
I go over this in the tuning video, but in my honest opinion, this is a bad design for this tube. I ended up redesigning the front end to get it to work well.
Share the secret of which amplifier you made you kept for yourself, if any. And which sound do you like best? It seems to be 300b, but I'll ask anyway)
Love you and your series...I like the way you do things....dont change a thing!
Found those 4 and 8 pin wout flange on ebay
Great serie!! thanks for sharing!

Thanks! The hardest part for many people is the metal work. I think I will do a video about that soon.
I love your videos. What exactly is B+ ?
It's the positive high voltage DC out of the power supply.
Wondering what you enlarging and developing 😂 are you by chance onto Large format photography and cameras building?
yes, I have both a 4X5 and a 5X7.
@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics you sent you a message via your website ✌️
you can buy blanking caps on ebay
Hi .......the OPT are Edcor CXSE25 ??
Yes
You should put a .25uf cap between the center of the 100K pot and the 1meg resistor.
Why put another cap in the signal path?

That's up to RUclips.
thats good circuit sun audio used the same circuit

Fantastic series- definitely going to try this. I have built guitar amps in the past can’t wait to try this. Any chance of doing a pre amp only?

The 6SQ7/EL34 and the 300B amp are the two I listen to the most.
i build my amps like you
Sorry got it!
