You have to "BEFAST" with stroke patients. The mnemonic BEFAST can be used to help you evaluate this neurological emergency. I look forward to seeing you succeed in EMT/Paramedic school.
Be great,
Evan, The Paramedic Coach

This training as an elementary school child saved my grandfathers life when he had a stroke and I recognized and called my parents who in turn sent an ambulance immediately!
I wish they had taught me that instead of bombarding my brain with algebra and Sigmund Freud
@@osmanhussein4339They teach you sigmund freud at elementary? Damn bro i feel sorry for you
These are the things that should be taught in school.
I wish I had known this. My dad had a stroke, and I didn't recognize the signs. I didn't call an ambulance because I thought he was just having a nightmare, and my older brother said not to bother because he was fine. Now I feel guilty for life. The doctor said we could have stopped it if we had called as soon as possible.
Evan, you’re STILL the man! Thanks for all your content! 👊🏻
Thank you!
The fact I saved myself using this strategy! It's terrifying but I'm glad I was taught this in school.
T - Time is important because ischemic strokes (from a bloodclot) can only be treated with "clotbusters" in the first three hours after symptom onset, which is why they say "be fast!"
I think the nature of it being an emergency medical event is why it you should “be fast” more than specifically because of that certain treatment window for a specific type of stroke.
T for TPA 😂
4.5 hours
Within 4.5 hrs and not 3
3 hours remains the ideal standard, and limited evidence exists to support benefit beyond this time frame. @@amandabass04
I just got passed this chapter in emt school thanks for hint’s always highly appreciated
Happy to help!
Great! Thank you for the "flash card with pictorials..Easy to remember-you are one of the best teachers I have ever had- ty so much !❤😊😊😊😊😊
Can you do a video on what are the steps to getting a person treatment that's having a stroke please
I have personally experienced witnessing a few strokes. I have seen their eyes tracking slow or separately. Extremely slow reactions, movements. One had dizziness and vomiting, with double vision, unless one eye was closed.
I like pneumonic NEWFAST, nausea/vomiting, eye change (partial blindness/vision loss), facial droop, arm drift, speech change, terrible headache
Was just watching the video vault thanks for all your help Evan!!
Nice, happy you are enjoying the vault!
My grandpa had a stroke in 2019, wheelchair bound, tried to get into his wheelchair, couldn't grip it well, slurred speech, facial droop. Medics arrive, transport him to the downtown hospital, since they were better equipped for stroke pts. We placed him in a home for recovery month later he passes. While on phone with dispatch we did the test. Time- 30mins from being normal self was when we noticed
I appreciate you a lot bro ! I start my accelerated emt course that’s 8 weeks next month on the 21st and forsure considering buying your program to get ahead of just know basic terms cause as of right now I don’t have much knowledge. And just been scrolling thru ppls vids

Thank you, thank you!👍❤️🇺🇸
Random Question, I Wish I Could Ask You In A Personal Email. But Well Here Goes, Do You Do Like A Payment Arrangements For Your Program. Ever Since I Watched Your Shorts And Videos I Got A Hang On So Much Info In So Little Time, Its Just Mind Blown On How Much I Have Learned And Kept That Info Imprinted In My Mind. Something important to note for people watching this is not all strokes will look like someone disoriented with one side out of commission. They can be someone having a lot of trouble making sentences and disoriented, because strokes can happen in different parts of the brain
I was 9 and my gradpha was having a stroke but i didnt know i wont tell u the whole story but i saved my grandpha life and my cousin too
I love your videos ❤Can explain a bit on Seizure please

Thank you much love from the Adirondack Mountains
HURRY TO THE CT SUITE!
Thank you for information
This is awesome, thank you
Also use asking them to smile to help determine if it is a heart attack. Rule out stroke if they can smile.
I have some of these symptoms
Remember, time is brain.
Great advice
I have always had horrible migraines. And I often wondered if I'd be able to tell the difference.
B-Balance, E-Eyes, F-Face, A-Arms, S-Speech, T-Time. Time to go to Emergency.
My question now is what are the things that we should do?
❤ I love 💕 EMT EMs❤
Exactly was helpful
T really means Time to call 911 (or your local emerg #)
E- also the terrifying experience of watching one pupil blow. That's never a good sign. Thankfully the worst time I saw that was while waiting for OR staff to come to get her.
I'm about to have a stroke reading the randomly highlighted subtitles
Good advice, though.
Also, when you ask a question do they give you a right answer? When you see them unable to do something they normally do, that's a red flag.
Ugh I know this tooo well since high-school cuz on my mama side of the family nothing but strokes and heart attacks !
Or as we say in the UK Fast Face arms speech and time it's a lot quicker way of getting medical help
Dude you need to get to the ER as soon as possible. You will never know if is a cloth or hemorrhagic stroke. Signs and symptoms are really similar some cases are the same.
Brother I have only 2 symptoms there is cold weather so suddenly I feel tired and dizzy i feel some weakness but not feel that much weak like u say my eyes perfectly see and i.m 14 years old
*me realizing this is what my doctor had me do when he found out I had nerve issues*
😐
😢😢😢We lost our mommy due to the stroke.
Be fast. I'm so fast I didn't even !watch the video I just started running!
How many failed criteria are required to call 911?
F-A-S-T
.
F = face
A = arms
S = speech
T = time
👍😉
Surgery po kailangan for Blood Clot
Umm. If I have an injured leg and I have less balance I have a stroke?
Doing that for like 5-10 minutes later
now listen there are "Mini Strokes" and "Mini Heart Attacks" like no permanent Damage but if they add up... that is leading to a "Major Stroke & Heart Attack"...you ignore that "Signs" its too late...the Body itself warns you "Months" before heavy Damage to your Body...so its very important to listen to even simple Pains and "abnormal" Disfunctions...just sayin...i did not wrote that whole paragraph for nothing...it happened to me...take care of your self Fellas :) :) :)
With all that test bro is already on the ground 😂
My uncle had a stroke ☹️
I thought T means Time to go to the hospital
Don’t forget to check blood sugar before calling stroke alert 🙈
Stroke symptoms are similar to bells palsy.
First sign of stroke is in mouth, eye, then ear will be in pain...
Et someone looked at.. they keep putting her in the mental hospital instead of the medical help
Also G. Make sure they’re not diabetic
This something like Parkinson is
Ask the patient to say puffed pastry. Thatll get em
T - Time to call 911
Oxygen asap too limit lasting brain damage. The faster a stroke patient get oxygen less chance of permanent brain damage
Be aware none of this is exclusive of stroke- MS warrior tired of being called stroke case.
How can I improve my skills when am learning alone onlline 😢
You've really given me so much hope
I'm learning alone as well. It does feel overwhelming.
after all of these youtube tests hes is already dead
