'Looking back - takes from 2021' - salmon fishing in Ireland

2021 was a difficult year in many ways and on the fishing front the weather often conspired against the angler for much of the season, with long sustained periods of dry hot weather. However when the conditions become more favourable there was some good fishing to be had. Here are some memorable takes from the year. Your reel is mounted the wrong way round
And where did you hide the band ?

That old debate 😄. I’m right handed so find that’s the best way to mount the reel so I hold the rod in my right hand when playing a fish, don’t like faffing around changing hands during a fight as you lose control imo 😉

Could have been good but 101% ruined by 'music' I have never seen anyone bring a band while fishing for salmon so what makes you think that's a good idea. We want to hear comments, birds, the reel. the river exactly like when we are fishing ourselves....

Thanks for your feedback, we are all different and many people enjoy having backing music, indeed some find it ‘boring’ without it. Similarly different people have different tastes in music, but wouldn’t it be boring if we were all the same.

@@AndrewMcGall Well put it this way, would YOU enjoy fishing with a band on the bank and volume cranked up until a point where nothing ellse is heard and it beeing a band you reaally dislike or would you go fish a nice calm spot with natural sounds?
