Just wanna say this is GREAT cuz I'm about to play the musical too next month in Jakarta, Indonesia and this is very helping! I've been struggling reading What You Want's partiture, I'm still not really adept & quick on reading partitures 🥲 Seeing you play the Big Percussion Break & Traditional Samba part, turns out it's not as intimidating as it seems on the partiture 😅 Pretty difficult for me to differ what the drums actually playing with other percussion instruments so I wasn't clear if my playing was correct or not. So MANY THANKS hope you're doing well and keep on drumming 🥁
Hey, thanks so much! Legally Blonde has a fun drum part. It’s mostly really well written - but the samba part you are referring to isn’t! If you have a percussion part playing as well I’d keep it fairly simple as there is a lot going on. Try and follow the bass and keep the groove through. There is also sampled percussion in the keyboard parts, so it might be worth listening to those parts if you get a rehearsal with them to hear how those fit together. Good luck with it, great show! 👍 🥁
@@dmrvideos this is sooooo helpful! I’m doing legally blonde in March and this part scared me, thanks for the help! I couldn’t quite tell what you were doing for the samba part, cause the music is written weirdly like you said. Again thanks for this!
