@@fritztopher true, the blasts themselves are concussive. But whatever he's shooting repeatedly over and over again DOES generate a ton of friction.
This was a callback to Cyke's origin where he fell out of the plane. And Cyke definitely softened the ground in his origin, the balloons in the comic says it right here, I'm looking at the comic right now.

@@M32MirachA lot of people still think his optic blast are hot like lasers, but in reality it`s like being hit with a sledgehammer or wrecking ball (depending on how much energy Cyclops is using). Then again The pressure from the blast would create friction, creating heat and heat melting the sand into glass. That would be my guess for his reasoning!!

In the comics he got hurt pretty bad the first time he did this out of desperation. This moment shows that he has achieved a genuine mastery of his powers and has confidence in that mastery. His arc from the original animated series is therefore resolved, and his uncertainty about his role as an X-Man replaces it entirely. @@rashadlewis8345

It makes sense when you remember that Cyclops just took over for Xavier who was the father figure of the group. Also Wolverine does not remember his past at this point, so to him he`s about (feels like) the same age as Cyclops.

Wolverine had a whole episode in which he remembered fighting alongside Captain America in WWII (they actually save a young Magneto). He remembered Alpha Flight and his time in Department H as well. Yeah, he questioned some of his memories (as seen in the Weapon-X Lies and Videotape episode), but he definitely remembers, at minimum, large chunks of his past going back decades before Scott was born.

Cyclops's optic blasts are concussive blasts, not laser beams. That is why he used it to slow his fall, just like how Iron Man's repulsors are used for flight. This is something "Hollywood" always gets wrong about Cyclops. They always show his blasts setting stuff on fire and it annoys me that the writers / vfx guys haven't done their homework.

It kept everything that made the original X-Men 92 series so great with a slight modern twist. The original voices that returned haven't lost a step even after nearly 30 years. The new voices are also welcomed as well. I loved the Sentinel fight. The classic banter between Scott and Logan. The straight from issue 4 of the 90s Xmen comic looks of the team playing basketball, with the inclusion of Morph and Bishop. The moment that classic X-men theme hit I was all smiles. The first 2 episodes were incredible!!! I absolutely loved this season premiere kick-off! I wasn't born in the '90s but my father kept a bunch of VHS tapes with a lot of the old X-Men: The Animated Series episodes on them and I grew up rewatching those same episodes as a kid. The action was fantastic, and I'm really digging the new animation style for the show. I just binged the entire original series, and I gotta say that this is a significant step up in terms of animation quality, of course. All the characters are just as charismatic as they were in the previous series, if not even more so. Hearing some of the classic voices return for their roles in this Revival series is so heartwarming and nostalgic. I'm also really digging the new blood when it comes to the new additions to the voice cast. The new voices for Gambit, Scott Summers, and Jubilee specifically sound really great and worthy successors to the original voice actors. I'm really loving what they're setting up for the overarching story of the season. I can't wait to move on to the next batch of episodes as soon as they release. Everything feels like a significant step up to a lot of the great things from the original show and this is clear proof that the people who worked on the show are true X-Men fans in grew up watching the original animated series. Ultimately, though, this awesome premier batch of episodes really reminded me how much I missed the X-Men as a family. It's been awhile since I really delve into the world of the X-Men like this and honestly I'm glad the show came out to reunite the fire I have for the X-Men that's some of the old fox movies might have dampered a little bit. Marvel's/The MCU's first crack, the X-Men, was done masterfully, in my opinion, and I can't wait to see more! 10/10 Premiere for this show! 🎆✨️🙌

This may be the first time I've genuinely felt like a Marvel animation project could stand toe to toe with DC's animated projects. Holy shit, this premiere was absolutely incredible! I knew the Jean reveal was coming and STILL felt such shock and confusion when she showed up. I was literally tearing up when Storm took that blast for Magneto. The way they had Cyclops using his powers was SO good. Rogue!? Less vivacious or not, I absolutely did not see the twist with her and Erik coming. What an uncanny first two episodes!!! What did the video miss?
    - Morph's technical first appearance was as Changeling in the 1960's X-men comics. While the character's identity (Kevin Sydney) is the same for both Morph and Changeling, the creators of the animated show said that Morph was based on and essentially the same character.
    - The mutant on the MISSING poster is Marrow (note the spiky hair, green turtleneck, etc.)
    - Also on the mutant fashion show flyer is (or individuals dressed as) Sooraya Qadir, aka Dust, Japheth, aka Maggott, Alani Ryan, aka Loa, Stacey-X and Lin Li, aka Nature Girl
Some additional notes on what is a fantastically in-depth video - great job!

The way Cyclops slowed his descent with his optic blasts is a callback to his origin story where he and his brother Alex/Havok were thrown out of their parents' crippled airplane. When their chute didn't open, Scott used his optic blasts to slow their descent and, as a consequence, lost his ability to control the blasts and needed his ruby-quartz visor from then on. Also, his optic blasts are concussive force so they would not melt glass. This is the nerdiest thing I have ever written on-line and I now feel awful.

We have to speak on Capcom's influence on this show! The Mega Optic Blast Cyclops uses to decend to the ground (not saying he didn't do this prior to save himself and little brother when their fathers plane was attacked) is very reminiscent of the VS series of fighting games with the size and girth (pause) of the beam while descending. This also includes the scene everyone seems to love with him using his Optic Blasts to slide around and maneuver better. He has Optic Sweep as well as wave dashing in the game. I feel they incorporated all those things in a seamless way in the warehouse fight scene as if he were fighting the way he would in a video game. Then the team up attacks like Wolverine and Gambit, or Cyclops and Bishop. All similar to what goes down in Marvel vs Capcom with duel supers and assists. The producers of the show definitely played a little "MAHHVVELL" growing up 😂. I'm just waiting to hear Scott say "Cyclone Kick" or Wolverine say "Berserker Barrage".😂 Peak 90s greatness! If you know, you know.... ❤

Ryan, I hope you get the chance to address the pronunciation of "Roberto Dacosta" in this series. The show does a great job of having Sunspot pronounce his name in a more accurate way, while also having the rest of the cast using the anglicized "Ro-Ber-to" pronunciation from classic comics. This is a change that was championed in recent Krakoa-era New Mutants by writer Vita Ayala, who has him using the more culturally accurate nickname "Beto" instead of the 80s Claremontian "Berto."
