How will the self-emptying base on the s7 work? Will it suck through the brush roll? Are there any separate extractor ports? Is there a dirt bin sensor? When will the Auto-Empty dock be released?
I didn't find any extractor port, so my guess it will suck through the brush roll port. Don't know if it has the dirt bin sensor, probably I should find out through testing it. I only know that it will be released this year, tho I don't know the exact date. It has an air inlet in the dustbin slot, however, I have no idea how it is supposed to work since there is no hole in that place in the dustbin: imgur.com/a/27qkv7F
Thank you! Unfortunately, the mop cloth from older models will not suit the S7 since the S7 cloth has a special soft area in the center that slightly moves from side to side and vibrates.
The mopping pad can be lifted up to 5mm, so this feature is suitable for low pile carpets only, not for medium or high pile carpets. In the video, I tested it with two carpets (low and medium pile), on the first one it works quite well and lifts the pad high enough to not touch the carpet.
@@SmartRobotReviews Hi, is your medium pile carpet the Ikea Tyvelse by any chance? It looks a lot like the one I have so I'd like to know if the Vibrarise would work for me
@@solargehirn Hi! It's not an Ikea carpet, if your carpet has the same height as mine, the pad likely would not lift enough to not touch the carpet. You can see it's touching my medium pile carpet on the video. So I would use this feature on low pile carpet only. Worth mentioning, in the app you can set it to avoid carpets when the mop is attached, so the robot will automatically recognize carpets and avoid them when mopping.
The S6 MaxV does better with object avoiding because of the built-in camera. It avoids small objects and shoes. In terms of navigation and avoiding objects, the S7 looks to be equal to the S5 Max at this point. As to tangling, I haven't tested it with the cords yet. So far I don't see a significant difference between the two on a daily basis in terms of tangling. Maybe the S6 MaxV sometimes does better depending on the way the cord lays on the floor but overall not that big of a difference in that area.
Unfortunately, the ILIFE A10 comes without the water tank in the box so I didn't test the mopping performance. There is another version, the A10S which has the water tank included.
Depends on what you want. If you want object recognition and taking less time on picking up things before cleaning, the S6 MaxV. If you have a mixed surface, want better mopping experience and going to buy a self-emptying bin later on, then the S7.
You made a comparison between the old roborock cloth and that of s7. It does not make sense! Now there are fully coated cloths, right up to the edges, which therefore have a larger surface ...
Well, I don't have the new style full-width mop for the S6 MaxV. Earlier versions of the S6 MaxV came with the old-style mop in the box. However, I don't think that the full-width mop would change the result that much.
@@SmartRobotReviews A much larger cloth will automatically pass over the same spot several times. I have tried it, because I believe that a tester should be informed of any improvement. I don't think it's a good idea to rely on "thinking".
Do you pre-wet the mop pads? My S5 Max doesn't have a wide wet trail. It's just two narrow 2inch streaks of wetness where the water would dispense onto the mop. Like so: ll
Yes, I pre-wet the mop before the test. But even after 30min of mopping my S6 MaxV still leaves a wide wet trail. Sometimes it leaves an unevenly wet trail, but mostly it is wide. I always use the max water level setting though. Did you check the water nozzles? Sometimes they may be clogged: www.reddit.com/r/Roborock/comments/loscw0/the_mop_cloth_of_the_s5_maxs6_maxv_unevenly_wet/
S6 Max equipped with front cameras but they're removed for S7? Not completely sure what the logic behind this, but if they are thinking to have S7, then S7 Pure, then S7 Max to finally get everything equipped then you might as well get a Deebot T8 Aivi+
If you think of the lineup, it actually has logic behind the naming. The "S" series is classic models, the "S Pure" and "S Max" are modifications with some upgrades over the classic series, the "S MaxV" stands for visual camera (I believe). So based on that, I understand why the S7 does not have a camera but has significant upgrades on mopping ability over the previous models :)
I already made a few tests with sand and debris on carpets and it looks like the new brush is noticeably better on both carpet and hard floors. However, I noticed worse performance in a hair pick-up test. I think the old-style brush with bristles removes hair from carpets better. No doubt the S7 is a more powerful robot vacuum compared to the S5 Max. But considering the price difference it's a hard choice.
Interesting. It looks like you have the old style mopping pad on the S6MaxV which might be why it did not do so well? The old style only has mopping material in the middle. The new style which should have shipped with you MaxV has the mopping material all the way across like on the S7.
I just hope the weak parts of the mopping system (motors, gearbox, etc.) can be easily repaired or replaced if needed and there will be spare parts available on the market.
Seems to suggest with the S7 you can have it choose to mop on hardfloor or vacuum on carpet. I have mostly hardfloor and want it to vacuum FIRST and THEN mop (so vacuum in one cycle, then come back and mop). Do you know if you can do that without any manual removal of the mop? This is basically the biggest dealbreaker for me as we have an S9+ with braava m6 and in one cycle overnight can both vacuum AND mop (though I hate iRobot due to their faulty recent products so was considering swapping to the S7). I'm not sure if the S7 can vacuum AND THEN mop a hardfloor without any manual intervention? Maybe you could help clarify? Thanks ahead.
Unfortunately, so far there is no option to make it vacuum first and then mop (m. Instead, it will vacuum and mop simultaneously. There is a workaround, you can set up two schedules with a few hours difference, the first one for vacuuming, the second one for mopping. When it recognizes carpets, it automatically lifts the mop up to 5mm. Does it really important to vacuum first and then mop? It can do both at the same time which is even better since it saves the battery and finishes the job faster. Unlike previous models, the S7 has an ultrasonic sensor for carpet recognition, so it recognizes carpets pretty accurately and always lifted the mop on carpets in my tests. But there is one thing to consider: it lifts the mop high enough for thin and low pile carpets, but since it rise the mop only to 5mm, it still touches a medium pile carpet with the mop as it passes. But even considering that it can't lift the mop high enough on a medium pile carpet, it still better than nothing since when the mop lifted, water stops flowing, and the scrubbing motion stops too. So the medium-pile carpets are still somehow protected, but not as good as thin carpets.
@@SmartRobotReviews one more related question, i presume the S6 MaxV does this too (simultaneous mopping/vacuuming)? When that model (which doesnt have the auto lowering gizmo for the mop part like the S7) hits a carpet, will it still go over the carpet and vaccum (even if the mop head drags a bit?).
Yes, the S6 MaxV can vacuum and mop at the same time too. This model doesn't have the ultrasonic carpet sensor unlike the S7, so you should set "no-mop" zones in the app where your carpets are located. The S6 MaxV will avoid no-mop zones when the mopping pad is attached. But in this case, you will need to run the S6 MaxV a second time without the mop to vacuum the carpets.
@@SmartRobotReviews Mine was produced in AUG2020 and it came with a full-width mop. But yeah, I like the idea of S7's raising mop so it can pay full "attention" to carpets and hard floors in a single session.
I got mine in May 2020 as far as I remember. Yeah, I like the rising mop too. The S7 has some other cool features and improvements that I didn't show in this video. Still working on a full review.
