I really love how you've written Derek, he started off with teething troubles, having them fully fixed and gone, to joining Mickey in the fire and rescue service till he died to become the head cheif and doing therapy for the other engines, he might be my favourite character in your series now, wonderful start and great aftermath from the last season
Its no suprise theres lingering trauma and blame. 1956 left Sodor broken, no two ways about it. So many familiar faces, even Thomas...gone. Henry seeking the Kipper as dangerous is no suprise, itd be a shock if he WASENT seeing it cursed after everything. And percy...oh yeah, seeing Thomas ghost is no suprise, he should still be here...but he gave his life to save the docks, and bless him he fought like hell to stay even after taking an exposion to the face. But will power simply wasent enough. Its good Derek is doing as Mickey did, and getting them past this is an amazing step in the right direction. Excellent work again
Thank you Victor for a great start to season 6. It was sad to see Percy seeing Thomas due to his PTSD and to see Henry dealing with his fear of taking The Flying Kipper, but I'm glad that Derek was able to help them pull through in the end. Praise the new fire chief: Derek! Can't wait for the next episode.
Three engines dealing with there own problems but Derek gets over his problems and helps Percy with his PTSD and the lashing out at the others and Henry with the fear of pulling the flying kipper Fantastic work Victor 😊
Incredible first episode. Sad to see everyone struggling still after all the tragedies in Season 5...but good that they're starting to come to terms with it.
The truth is does he have the gut to keep the main character dead. Killing them off is one thing, but actually making them stay dead is a whole new ball game
@@yeoldeseawitchExcept he's not the main character in this canon. He is technically the main character in the TV series and most popular in the world the railway series.
I never found thomas to be the series main character. I've always thought it would be Edward, or there wouldn't be a main character as the stories have an ensemble cast
This was a great return for Stories of Sodor, Victor. Can’t wait to see how the rest of it goes. Also, hearing “But that’s a story for another day” never gets old!
6:25 I admire how Derek refrains from an argument following Percy's insults. Speaking of Derek, he's awesome in this episode. Looks like Mickey taught him well.
Early theory: Thomas didn't die, and will eventually come back as part of a rebuild/rescue project. Remember, he was sent to the Barry scrapyards, so it's entirely plausible he'll get returned to steam after a preservation society finds him. However, the trauma is such that he loses much of his memories of his time on Sodor. He maybe remembers Percy, and Toby... but not specific details. So there's a heck of a lot of conflict when he does actually return.
You could also have Thomas be a "replica" of the original who is younger, less experience, and has to deal with living in the original Thomas' death. Like Arthur, except with a BRANCH LINE'S load of pressure.
Been watching since 2017, and I never thought I’d witness season 6 either But oh how it brings back memories to my childhood, playing with Thomas trains and watching Thomas on VHS and DVD, ahhhh the mid to late 2000s
NOTE: My thoughts here will contain some spoilers so if you haven't watched the whole episode, please make sure that you do before commenting. And so it fully begins and boy, we’re starting off with a lot of strong guiltiness. First of all, a new intro! Barry finally gets his updated face, we see Thomas has been replaced by… Joey. Going to be interesting to find out more about that by the time Adjustment comes and Toby has taken Thomas’ place in the sheds. Dang… that’s really heartbreaking to see Thomas not there anymore. This episode starts off strong for me. We got a lot going on that shows how hard recovery can be when it comes to death. Not just through knowing someone for a very long time but also through strangers you didn’t know. That is a very interesting concept. I’ve never really seen anyone show how a stranger's death can affect someone. Starting with Henry’s side plot, it was sad to see him having trouble with the Kipper. Him having that trouble now due to knowing that it was Rob’s father that died, I can see why he has been feeling very guilty about that inside. It’s confusing to figure out why something you were fine with before suddenly becomes a scary experience and it’s a concept I feel like was written well here. I love how the side plot ended with Rob seeing Henry and Henry apologizing, regaining his confidence and losing the guiltiness. It’s very sweet. Sad that Henry does lose his Flying Kipper job when the contract wasn’t renewed though. With Percy’s side plot, I knew he was going to have the worst of it all and it was everything I expected. The hallucinations of seeing Thomas’ scarred body, feeling a lot of anger towards his co-workers like Toby and Derek and startling himself but lying he’s fine when he’s not completely fine. Jeez, even though he was not helping himself, I really felt very bad for him here. I really enjoyed the scene with him, Toby and Derek, with Percy shouting at them, blaming them for what happened with Thomas and eventually leading to them talking it out together. His plot was very bittersweet and it’s nice to see that in the end, he apologized to everyone and soon had the hallucination go away. Very bittersweet there. And finally Derek’s role in this episode; the best part of this whole episode. It was interesting to see him settling more into the role of Chief. First struggling with the role and questioning why he was chosen with Terence being a great supporting character and helping Derek out with that struggle and helping with figuring out new solutions to help Henry out. Derek is such a trooper and has stood out a lot. I really enjoyed how you’ve written him here. Overall, a strong start to the season. A lot better than last year’s, that’s for sure. Great pacing and nothing too overwhelming or a whiplash. Great job, Victor!
Glad to see your episode summaries. Only feels like yesterday when Season 5 ended I do agree on your analyses of Henry and Percy’s plots. Guilt over accidental deaths of strangers compared to known friends is something rarely touched upon in recovering survivors’ guilt stories, both fictional and real. And Percy’s one is so compelling and real. While I have yet to lose someone very very close to me, I can sort of understand where people come from when they become aggressive and shove people away as they grieve. And him having to deal with accepting Thomas’ corpse is painful, though I feel it was resolved to early. Henry’s resolution feels appropriately paced. But even though time has passed since Thomas’ death. It’s been 40 - 50 years and Percy gets over it in just an epilogue narration? Overall, good episode
That was such a fantastic start to the season! Everything felt so right and the characters guilt felt real. I also loved Derk in this and I loved how he got Henry to shunt the kipper without Henry even realising it until afterwards. Can't wait for the rest of the season!
2 things 1. Woah, Percy dropped the third F-Bomb of the series! 2. Henry’s got to handle the bulk of the goods work now that Geoffrey and Peter are dead, I know the others are helping out more (we saw Reginald with a goods train and Francis is most likely doing more goods work now) but I know that Dudley’s arrival in Troublemaker will be because the workload is starting to pile up because at the very least Reginald still pulls passengers
This was really well written! Having Percy experience extreme grief of the loss of Thomas was a great level of emotion. It really was a relatable moment for me after I had lost my father 10 years ago when I was 9 years old. Just like Percy, my family was recommended therapy to help us handle the loss of my dad so that we could only think of him as a hero and an amazing man for today. I remember how the first few years after my dad passed away were the toughest years, and I had more mood swings that led to me lashing out on people even if they didn't intentionally aggravate me, which usually led to me crying afterwards because I knew that they never deserved that treatment I gave to them. Here, recently, I've learned how to control my emotions and to think more positively about life, knowing that even with my dad not being around, he is still setting up my future in the way he knows will make me successful. I remember my mom telling me that dad told her to take care of my brother, and I and that he loves us. This happened minutes before he passed away. Thursday, March 26, 2015, was the date of my dad's passing.
@fanofeverything30465 Thank you, I'm at least glad I can still say my dad is my hero to this day. He was a brave man who worked in my city's fire department. He always put the safety and needs of others before his. It did lead to him having cancer, which was why he passed away, and I know he passed as a good man who wasn't just my hero, but he was a hero to a whole community of people. I'm glad he was my dad. He died a hero, which is why I love and miss him cause he was always there for everyone. He was a good man and a heroic one as well.
woah wasnt expecting this to be this dark! persy having ptsd and having hallucinations of thomas and being filled with anger was dark, victor did a very good job portraying what its like to have trauma. amazing episode victor cant wait for more to come!
Awesome episode. Having Derek becoming the new Fire Chief, helping Henry deal with his fear of taking The Flying Kipper and helping Percy deal with the fact that Thomas is gone. Again awesome episode, can't wait to see what the next episode will bring.
Splendid to see this series back again! SPOILERS AHEAD ... Poor Percy! I'd love to see a story about him spreading the word of Thomas' heroism. Maybe Thomas' spirit could return - fully recovered, of course! - to thank him? Maybe even haunt the branch line, not to antagonise but simply unwilling to let it go? Either way, very happy to see the new series develop! Looking forward to the surprises you have to offer!
Great to see you back Victor! And I must say, you've done a good job of making more dialogue scenes and less silent staring ones. Keep up the good work.
Man, what a start to this season. First Henry is afraid of The Flying Kipper, then Percy is suffering from trauma, lashing out at others & causing near accidents, and having hallucinations. Didn't that the latter stuff would be happening. But at least Percy finally got over it and recovered. I was also glad when Henry finally overcame his fear (albeit rather unexpectedly, but well-done). Still, he shouldn't have been blaming himself for that accident from that long ago. He can't do that! It's nowhere near his fault, and he should know that! Mr Star told him so, and everyone here knows that only ice & snow caused it to happen. So he had no reason, or any good one, to think otherwise. That's not how you deal with that sort of thing. It never works that way. It helps anyway, though, that Rob of all people helped him see this. He was just the person Henry needed to talk to then since he hadn't done so before this whole thing. Also, for the Kipper to be decommissioned afterwards I didn't expect, but it at least went out on a high note.
This honestly may be one of my favorite series out there there are so many twists and turns to the story that just always keeps me on my toes, and to have characters from Thomas And Friends made for a more mature audience is everything to me, please don’t stop with the amazing content your producing and I can’t wait to see what happens next
Thank You Victor Tanzig!! Us Americans+ us Pups/Mighty Pups also thank you for your continuation of the series and we can't wait for more!!! Cheers and have a great day, Victor, Love It!!
Great to see this series return! This episode felt like a very natural way to continue the story after all the bad things that happened on Sodor in Season 5. On the production side of things, I appreciate that you've cut down on the dialogue-less montages compared to last season. Looking forward to seeing more new episodes every Friday!
What a great way to begin season 6, knowing now that this is the beginning of the road to recovery for everyone after what happened through the grim events of 1965. Derek sure stepped in and took charge and was willing to learn from Terence if he was stumped. Man, Percy and Henry sure had it rough trying to overcome their challenges with PTSD and fear, respectively. RIP Geoffrey, Peter, Mr. Zorro, Mickey, and Thomas.
Honestly, first impressions are great! Though the 15 minute runtime still feels short, it feels like you packed as much as you could into those 15 minutes, and the parts with no dialog felt perfectly timed, not too long at all, and didn't replace dialog heavy parts, instead letting the important dialog follow afterwards. Victor, I'd say you've perfected telling the Stories of Sodor in a shorter video, while keeping the good story telling and dialog of previous seasons. Great work!
Gotta say this I recently rewatched all of stories of sodor and I actually enjoyed the season 1965 during that rewatch so im very happy to see that things are only on the up and up with the episode recovery
This is a peak episode and a great way to begin the season. I knew Percy would've acted the way he did, he and Thomas were like brothers. Great to see the series is peak again!
A very solid first episode. The way Derek is beginning to fit into his role and his interactions with Terence make me wish they did similar character work with him in the original series. VERY excited for the rest of this season!
Beautiful job. Pacing was far better than last season, and this episode was the high note we all needed to start Season 6. May the good times continue.
*There are 5 Stages of Grief during Recovery in this Episode of Stories of Sodor:* *Stage 1:* Denial *Stage 2:* Anger *Stage 3:* Bargaining *Stage 4:* Depression *Stage 5:* Acceptance *(Percy is one of those Stages)*
Ever since Derek was added as a character to this series, he's made his way up to being one of my favourites. Hime helping Henry and Percy here just makes me like him more. RIP to Robs dad and Mikey (idrc for Shawn).
This was absolutely beautiful I'm still sad Thomas is gone and now I'm sad about the loss of the flying kipper but holy heck this was an amazing episode great start to end that horrible year and to forget about the previous shitty season
This hit hard. Welcome back, Victor. Just wish RUclips ads didn't ruin the flow. I had two sets of ads, the first ones unskippable and the second one felt like taking forever to get to the skip button.
Well, the series is off to a good start. A Little sad that Thomas is not in the into, but I'm okay. Still It was nice to See Derek fill in for Mickey after his passing. I know Mickey would be proud to see Derek helping out Henry and Percy with their problems. As for Donald and Rob, It's good to see them bury the hatchet after Donald apologised for what happened to Rob's father and for accusing him of Shaun's crimes. Best of luck with the rest of the season Victor.
Damn Victor, this one may have only been 15 minutes, but what an episode! The pacing was great despite it being a short one, and the storytelling was top notch. Reminded me of season 2-4s story telling in a way, without it being overwhelming or underwhelming, but right in the middle. Seriously looking forward to what the rest of season 6 has to offer!
It’s sad to see Thomas go, but I accept Victor’s decision in his writing. at least this Thomas doesn’t have to see what Mattel does to him with “All Engines Go”
This whole series has got to be the best fan made one there is. I really cant wait for the Arlesdale and i really hope my wish that the Peel Godred branch will be electrified and we get to see a non faceless electric will come true in this season or one after this.
This feels a bit like the first episode of season 3, we get massive events the year(s) prior, and the first episode of the next season is how they started a road to recovery
Yeah for some reason each trailer says it’ll be released on a Saturday but it’s actually Friday. Victor is from Australia so maybe that’s for Australia I dunno 🤷🏻♂️. In season 4 it said it started October 10, 2020 when it was actually October 9, 2020
OMG! Season 6 is off to a Strong start well done Victor, I actually wasn’t expecting it to until the new year. (But I’m not complaining) (Warning Major Spoilers) Derek has truly stepped into his new role as Fire and rescue chief, Mickey would be very proud. I’m glad Robert Hall didn’t blame Donald or Henry about what happened to his father or anything after that and I’m happy Henry was able to work through his trauma to pull The Flying Kipper again before it got decommissioned. But of course Percy’s trauma was heartbreaking, him seeing hallucinations of Thomas’ corpse was scary and him lashing out at everyone was so sad. Percy and Thomas have been best friends (almost like brothers) for 30 years it was Thomas who showed Percy around, but I’m glad Percy has taken the first step to recovery. Looking forward to everything else season 6 has to offer.
Although a bit short and the story/trauma going by pretty quickly, this was a good start. The characters are written well, love the Terence & Derek friendship. Again, I wish it was a bit longer and/or the drama lasted for a few more episodes, like it did with Peter, but I'm content with how it went. and love the redone intro.
Good to see that some of the old format is back. 15 minutes is better then 10 minutes for a story like this. At some points, the dialogue still seems too quick. The plot of this episode sure did some things to patch up some of the things from last season.
Sad to see that Percy sees Thomas due to his PTSD
Derek has really filled in the shoes being the Fire Chief. Mickey would be so proud
He defiantly would. Rest his soul
I had a feeling that Percy would suffer PTSD just like Sir Topham Hatt back is Season 4 in Revelations.
Actually I'm pretty sure he had smokebox syndrome.
I think it’s actually kind of similar to “through the fog it creeps” story by Richard Jordan, PTSD via creepy imagery illusions.
Mickey got cooked, and now Derek is cooking as chief. Big shoes to fill, perfect feet to fill them.
I really love how you've written Derek, he started off with teething troubles, having them fully fixed and gone, to joining Mickey in the fire and rescue service till he died to become the head cheif and doing therapy for the other engines, he might be my favourite character in your series now, wonderful start and great aftermath from the last season

Also, for the Kipper to be decommissioned afterwards I didn't expect, but it at least went out on a high note.
good, strong start to this season Victor. All the emotional moments hit well and Derek is building up to be a well rounded character.
This is just brilliant Percy having hallucinations about thomas and henry struggling to pull the kipper because of what happened all those years ago
Zorro, Mickey, and Thomas.
im NEVER going to get tired watching your stories, they get better and better as time goes on. your a genius.
Words of comfort can help heal our soul
So glad your back Victor although I enjoyed the shorts and snippets I’m glad your making stories
Welcome back Stories of Sodor!! Great job, Victor, glad Derek has filled in for Mickey quite well, and some past traumas have been overcome!
This episode is some of your best work yet! Keep it coming Victor.
Its nice to see Derek have an important role in this series.
I’m so excited for season 6!!!
This is why I love this channel it takes deeper meanings to the next level
Victor always makes Fridays awesome
2:55 Derek… MY HEART
Derek is now a fire chief and a therapist to the engines
Wow! Spectacular Episode!! Thank You Victor Tanzig!!
Beautiful job. Pacing was far better than last season, and this episode was the high note we all needed to start Season 6. May the good times continue.
It’s still so hard to believe Thomas and Mickey are really gone 😢
Just came back from school and now ready to watch peak content
And we are back!
Sad that Percy had PTSD following after the munitions disaster...
Derek does a great job at fitting the shoes/wheels of fire chief.
I actually love derek, he's so well written !
*There are 5 Stages of Grief during Recovery in this Episode of Stories of Sodor:*
*Stage 1:* Denial
*Stage 2:* Anger
*Stage 3:* Bargaining
*Stage 4:* Depression
*Stage 5:* Acceptance
*(Percy is one of those Stages)*
*Toby:* (6:00) Grand Dad?!
*Vinesauce:* FLINTSTONES!?!
He is on Stage 2
@@DLR1997 I know.
I went through those stages when Victor killed off Thomas
Its good to see you back mate. Been a fan since 2020♥️♥️♥️.
I’ve been dealing with anxiety disorder and hypochondria and PTSD all year. This episode really hit home
When I saw this upload it was like greeting a good friend after not seeing them for 20 years. Thank you Victor
Ever since Derek was added as a character to this series, he's made his way up to being one of my favourites. Hime helping Henry and Percy here just makes me like him more. RIP to Robs dad and Mikey (idrc for Shawn).
Derek is my favorite Diesel next to BoCo I wish they did something with both of them after S5
@@TheBandit025Nova I do agree with this, BoCo is awesome
Well done victor good to have you back
A nice start so far!
And whoo boy...I can see tensions boiling over next episode, if that ending is of any indication...not that I blame them.
Nice episode Victor! Great start to season 6! I feel so bad for Percy and Derek makes a good fire chief! ❤
This was absolutely beautiful I'm still sad Thomas is gone and now I'm sad about the loss of the flying kipper but holy heck this was an amazing episode great start to end that horrible year and to forget about the previous shitty season
A strong start to what seems like a strong season
YAY!!! When the world needed him most he returned
Now this was a great episode it's fantastic to see Derek as the new Chief and helping Percy and Henry, Micky was to put in charge.
Glad to see the series returned! Great episode
It’s sad to see Thomas go, but I accept Victor’s decision in his writing. at least this Thomas doesn’t have to see what Mattel does to him with “All Engines Go”
I love how Henry says “Derek, you’re a genius.”
You are a legend, Victor. You give us so kind cu excellence. Can't wait to see what you do next.
Welcome back TSoS, ya bloody legened! (+Major spooky story potential)
Was not expecting it to come out today, thought the trailer said the 26th, BUT IM NOT COMPLAINING, WELCOME BACK STORIES OF SODOR
Yeah for some reason each trailer says it’ll be released on a Saturday but it’s actually Friday. Victor is from Australia so maybe that’s for Australia I dunno 🤷🏻♂️. In season 4 it said it started October 10, 2020 when it was actually October 9, 2020
Thomas fans are eating great today 🫡
Edit: Always Love your videos victor! Always love to see a new annual season!❤❤❤❤
Wow after 10 months a new episode it's good to see the episode again
THANK YOU VICTOR
OMG! Season 6 is off to a Strong start well done Victor, I actually wasn’t expecting it to until the new year. (But I’m not complaining)
(Warning Major Spoilers)
Derek has truly stepped into his new role as Fire and rescue chief, Mickey would be very proud.
Let’s go episode one of season 6 congrats victor on your hard work
Oh my goodness Victor Tanzig made his 6th instalment before GTA 😂
Thank you again Victor!
Good to see that some of the old format is back. 15 minutes is better then 10 minutes for a story like this. At some points, the dialogue still seems too quick. The plot of this episode sure did some things to patch up some of the things from last season.
