Welsh boy here, congrats guys, always love seeing the Scots do well! Looks like you're a danger force this nations too... Keep it up lads I've got my fingers crossed, until you play Wales you understand :)
I'm constantly surprised that nobody talks about Alex Dunbar as one of the potential Lions, he's exceptional in defence and if he gets a head of steam on him in attack, he's a bull-dozer. Great win, needs to be backed up though, one-offs count for nothing in the long run.
With Scotland only 7% of the time in Ireland's half in the second period of the game, Ireland should have scored enough points to win the game. Scotland's defence was excellent and it was good for the championship for them to win their opening game at long last. Come on Ireland and win the next four.
Watching this on the morning of 1 February 2020 to remind myself that this did actually happen, it is possible for Scotland to beat Ireland. No' very likely, but still...
Take a look at the foot when the ball is passed, and at the point of the deflection by the Scottish wing. Has nothing to do with camera angle, you can see the lines on the field. He's at 11 m when he passes. The Scottish wing nearly nicks it at 8 m. His arms swing to the back as if he's passing behind the body, but the ball launches in an almost straight trajectory towards the Scottish wing. Should have been knock/throw forward called.
this could be Scotland's year, they will hammer France .. Italy should be a bonus point win, the'll have no fear of Wales or England grand slam there for the taking .
zephanish Gatland will stick with what he knows, which takes a lot of fun out of the Lions. Roberts, North, Halfpenny, Davies heck, even Cuthbert will all be touring at least, I imagine, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them starting the tests either. Ugh
Halfpenny isn't even Wales' best full back, let alone the Lions. I have faith that Gats won't pick him in the test team, or for that matter Roberts and Davies. If Cuthbert tours it would be an absolute travesty.
Townsend needs to resign:- he is useless with antiquated tactics, and picking his mates son to play rather than some more talented players SRU wake up and get a Southern Hemisphere coach ASAP ..... Hear he gets paid £3 m. What a joke if it was performance related he would have to paid the SRU
hard to play against this scotland squad though, especially at home. it's only the beginning. they'll mature into one of the best international sides we've ever seen.
I disagree Ireland sometimes start the 6 nations a little slow, but Scotland had them rattled in the first half, diving into the tackle area like madmen and attacking relentlessly.
Just watching this back and around 1:21 when it said 'The Full backs pace and dummy pass to Seymour' on the left of him on the wing at 14 was Sean Maitland
That random spectator shedding some tears after the win shows just how much Scotland's win meant to him and his country. Brilliant to watch!
Unless he's an Ireland fan😅

as a seagull from outerspace and a neutral, I really enjoy watching Scotland do well.
Mixed emotions. As a Scot I am pleased... I share the thoughts of my friends in Ireland,

Such a delight to see Murrayfield full.

Northern hemisphere looking damn strong. Here's hoping the southern hemisphere get their act together
Scotland have now lost 10 times in a row to Ireland since this game.
Apparently Scotland won this because the Irish bus was 5 mins late.
Love Scotland Vs Ireland. Always a great game and always a great piss up after!
That pass at 2:09 looked a mile forward even on the most liberal interpretation of the "backwards from hands with forward momentum" law.
Thomasuki267 was the camera angle made it look forward

It was touched in the air by a Scottish hand causing the ball go slightly forward (or backward if you're Scottish).
Jon Britton that doesn't make difference, if the pass was forward its forward whether its deflected or not
I'm saying it wasn't forward UNTIL it was deflected.
brava Scozia

Something still tells me that Gatland will pick Halfpenny over hogg
zephanish hard to leave out both of them, maybe halfpenny full back and hogg on the wing
zephanish Gatland will stick with what he knows, which takes a lot of fun out of the Lions. Roberts, North, Halfpenny, Davies heck, even Cuthbert will all be touring at least, I imagine, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them starting the tests either. Ugh

So tell me again... Scotland have got 2 players in Lions squad and Wales have how many ?
Jeremy Merrifield its because of Gatland
Is S. HOGG NO LONGER IN THE SQUAD FR 2023?
Great game, the atmosphere was amazing. I'm only nitpicking here but Hoggs dummy pass was to no. 14 Maitland rather than no. 11Seymour
made ronan ogara eat his words
scotland will win the six nations....... hopefully
Scotland Scotland
Long grass....

Ireland will beat them Saturday we had no sexton no o’mahony last year and now Bundee Aki Jacob Stockdale and Larmour off the bench 👋
Irish triggered
Wow so EZ lol git gud
Ireland was horrible in that first half, so many stupid mistakes and decisions.
