Jim the car guy really rocks. I was trained as a mechanic 55 years ago in RI by my dad, but had a career as an engineer. Getting a refresher from Jim was like being with my dad again. Jim tells you what you need to know and how to do it right. 5 stars to you Jim and thanks. PS don't forget to buy your parts through his store front, the same price as the discount auto parts stores.
Had to replace the rotors and pads on my daughter's Hyundai. This step by step tutorial was just what I needed to be able to do the job correctly. Took me a little longer to do the job since I had to do it in my driveway and not on a lift. That being said, the brakes were repaired correctly and they operate flawlessly. Great video!
Thank you soo much for your Help. We just changed our 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Both rear Rotors and Brakes successfully. You are one of the Mechanic whose not worried about job security & wants to share Knowledge, not hide to rip off people. Thanks and God Bless you.

Very Well done video, made the job easy. I don't know if I missed something. But after all installed and back together, quite a scraping sound coming from one of the brakes. I checked and didn't install the pads on backwards, but scraping sound at low speeds. Brakes work good. Checked the rotors to touch. Both of course were warm, but one is super hot, much hotter than the other rotor. Do you think my caliper isn't moving? Andy
I have a '12 Sante Fe. My problem was the rust ring inside the drum was so bad I couldn't get the drum/rotor off and there's no jacking bolt holes. Copious banging and prying got me out about a cm, along with pretty much destroying my dust cover, although it was almost at the point of disintegrating anyways. No amount of pulling and turning or banging got me any farther. At that point I got in behind and picked away at the rust with a small screwdriver, enough to get it off. I got it all back together so it's serviceable but now I have to get a new dust cover.
Could you please tell me the torque specs for the 14mm rotor and caliper bolts for a 2010 Santa Fe. Thanks in advance and thank you for a well put together video as well. It's very much appreciated. Cheers!
Another job well done, Jim. Can't thank you enough for the pry bar tip at the beginning of the job to recess the piston. Amazing how much time that saves putting it back together since I've started doing that.
Great video! I was a bit worried but you made it seem so easy. Just one question, will these steps work on a 2013 Hyunda Santa Fe Limited as well? Also, what are the torque specs? Thank you in advance!
When you purchase new pads make sure you also get the hardware. Sometimes you must buy them desperately. Sometimes the hardware is removed from the box so make sure you check. sometimes you can reuse them but not a good idea.
My only complaint is most people do videos when all works well. When you removed the rotor, you mention you have a tool to remove the rotor, but would try to just use a hammer first. While I believe that is what half the people want to see, but the other half already know that are are looking for ways when the hammer tap it off fails to work. Videos where problems are shown are very useful and is why I watch videos like this on doing simple jobs. Seeing what others do when they encounter problems is good learning.

Great video. I am going to try this myself. I am confused at 15:25 regarding the battery pack. What is that for and what size is the battery? Thanks again.
Hi what if damage was done to the shoe assembly? One side with the shoe attached the arrowhead nail and clip came off and i had to put it back in, but should i get a whole new shoe assembly?
Great video. The rotors come off a lot easier if you pull the rubber bung and back off the handbrake adjuster to pull the brake shoes in a bit.. then you can readjust when the new ones are on - trust me, much easier, and I found that it's quicker 👍
Is there a trick to getting the brackets to sit tight and getting the pads to slide into the brackets? I got as far as putting the pads on and I can’t get them both seated in the brackets.
Do you have a video on park brake adjustment through rotor access hole that shows direction to turn to increase & decrease park brake lining clearance on the 2008 santa fe?

Do you have any videos on that? Once again, one of the best videos I've seen to tackle the job myself. Thanx in advance for your response.

Hi Jim, great videos. Question. How do you know you need to replace rotors if they are all smooth and not wobbling when braking? Should they always be replaced like the dealer will tell you?
I need to replace mine because instead of being smooth they are all jagged, it’s possible they were loose or warped before and now they’re completely unusable. It’s also possible a rock got caught in there and made it uneven?
I need to do the hold down springs and other parts on mine. Does anyone know if the wheel bearing and hub need to be removed to access or can i be done without.
I spent nearly 3 hours trying to get the rotor off, I pull pull it maybe 1/4th an inch but it would snap back into place as if a magic force was pulling it back. It spun, so I don't think it had anything to do with the e-brakes (they were not engaged anyhow) Any suggestions??

Great tutorial, watching this video makes me so happy I live in the Deep South,no rust issues like this
dont need those screws trash them, only used to hold the rotor at the assembly line!!
This comment gave me the encouragement to grab the drill and just keep the job moving forward.
Thanks very much for posting this. I saved my family a couple hundred bucks by replacing our Santa Fe's brakes myself.
The small screws that hold the disc don’t have to be tightened like that, they hold the disc just before the wheel is tightened on it.
That was an excellent video. My dealer was charging me $299. for the fron and $255. for the rear. I did it myself.
