At last some warmer sunnier weather, and the growth of the Paulownia has improved. Up til now, the year has been characterised by cold damp and wet weather until May, when it changed to unusual bitterly cold northerly winds.
I've hardly seen any insects and there aren't many Swallows and House Martins this year 🙁
Still, some bumble bees have started nesting on the bank up the back, and they're fabulous.
Hoping to start bee keeping and producing my own honey and bee products in the future....

Today I saw my favorite Paulownia, she is already about 4 meters and she is in the midst of growth in Tralee, she is 2 years old and she is going to be industrialized for me :) but time will tell. I dug a 60 cm deep hole, I threw a lot of woody remains of grass and eyebrows into the bottom of the hole with peat and sprinkled everything with chicken manure, my beautiful Paulownia is greedily devouring all these resources now

      Paulownia are certainly hungry trees.
I will be feeding the new plantings with the rich nitrogen feed regularly.
Also will be more diligent with the vegetation control.
I think the wind protection that the Eucalyptus provide will be helpful for those down the bottom of the slope to the north.
Thanks for taking the time Andrew 👍🏻
      Much appreciated 🍀

Just found your channel. It's fun to watch a different reality. Paulownia Tomentosa flowered on the second growing season here in Southern Brazil (Santa Catarina state). We do get frosts here but it's a very short and milder winter compared to Ireland. Growing season is much longer and sunnier. The tree is 5 meters tall now and it was planted in September 2022. I'll upload a video of it later today.

Thanks for taking the time thumbs 👍🏻
I'm on a North facing slope exposed to the cold damp northerly winds. I would expect better results on a sheltered south facing slope.
That's interesting to hear that yours flowered after only a couple of years ! I've searched frequently and the information suggested from 3 to 15 years.
I'll check out your channel now for the Paulownia video 😉
      Good luck 🍀

Will go quite same way next year - with Paulownia at the West Kery area. Probably will try to germinating them at home and sunroom early spring. Only place in the garden where I have some sun is a pretty dump. Will see :)

🤞🏻larger trees will establish more quickly and be more vigorous, though I'm going to plant more Eucalyptus as well 😉
Thanks for taking the time and good luck 🍀 with your Paulownia growing...

Green Grass clipping can be super rich in nitrogen, I wouldn't have thought the would rob nitrogen. But they can contribute to anaerobic conditions especially if its already wet.

@@Craig-MitchellCheers. Thankyou for all your fine videos. Great to see how things grow in you climate, definitely sounds similar to my wet mild/cool climate here in New Zealand.

      @@finnkelcher5558 You're welcome Finn.
When I first started this, I looked for a country with similar climate to source seed from (provenance) and so I used to buy all the Eucalyptus seed from New Zealand, and gained early knowledge from Farm Forestry New Zealand 😉
      Thanks again 🍀
