The fact that folks are more concerned with getting that "perfect picture" than stopping to appreciate what they're experiencing is ridiculous. Some of my fondest memories of places I've been exist in my mind. They're mine, not everyone else's. You want that image you've got to have that experience.
I feel so fortunate to have gone in January 2003. Lower Antelope was so easy - just pay the lady, climb down and do what you want. My buddy and I stayed down there for hours doing photography, with tripods. We encountered maybe 10 other people passing through in all those hours. Upper Antelope required a tour guide to get us to the entrance down the dry riverbed. We were never rushed and allowed to explore at our own pace - and use tripods. After our tour time was up, the guide saw how into photography we were and said he’d be returning with another group later - and did we want to stay? Of course the answer was yes, though as I watched our only ride drive away I began to wonder if that was wise. He did come back as promised and we got photographs that still rank among my best today. For a nature lover, walking into Upper Antelope is like walking into a cathedral. I’m not sure which one I’d choose for photos if I only could do one. I’d say Lower Antelope because the terrain is more varied and it’s a little harder to get through (weeds out some of the tourists).
I did this tour in April of '24 and in no way were we rushed. The guides were great! There were probably 200 people around that had just dome the tour or were waiting to go in. We split into groups of 15 at about 5 minute intervals. The guides were very patient and they realize that it is a beautiful place and the line will back up. We ran into the back of the group ahead of us and the group behind us caught up to our group. It was all good and we moved thru at a reasonable pace. It's well worth the $80.00 you pay to see this!
These new videos are good and informational but i really miss your old motovlogs, and why i enjoy watching motovlogs is because it's not just the destination but the journey and all the struggles that you face to make it to the destination is really inspiring and i feel riding on a motorcycle connects you with the nature.Hope the motovlog viedos will be back soon.
When we were kids in the late 60’s, we found the lower Antelope slot canyon. Once entering, there were 3 drops along the way through the narrow canyon, the first being about 8’ to 10’ straight down. Once you dropped in, there was no going back, you had to finish in order to climb out when the slot canyon opened up in a wash.
Oh wow that's an amazing experience, so I want go there pretty soon. What month were you there? And how much time will I have if I stay in the back of the group since there are other groups behind? Thanks.
They also offer inexpensive boat tours of the bottom of Antelope Canyon out of Antelope Point Marina. The tour seems to be closed for now but might be worth looking into after things reopen. If you have your own boat (or kayak) the canyon opening is a mile southwest of the boat ramp and you can go a couple miles up the canyon depending on the water level. My family did this tour a couple years ago and everyone enjoyed it!
This man started the whole youtube motorcycle adventure thing in a big way. I think there may have been a few before him but the video by alex in 2013 ish, on his klr is the one that set it all off.
Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. I hope that you know that you are a very fortunate man. I have made a dozen trips to the West Coast and have never stopped to see these incredible and beautiful areas. Keep these short broadcasts coming. Take care my friend. Vaughn
Absolutely beautiful place to visit.....but you truly don’t get the time to really enjoy the beauty. They rush you through so quick and with a couple other hundred people it’s hard to enjoy.
That's what I heard recently and that totally upsets me for some reason that you only get a couple shots before somebody behind you keeps pressuring you like to hurry up. I know that that's just the way it is but it's kind of disappointing nonetheless. Hopefully your pictures turned out well
Check the official website in my description down below. That’s why I have those links on there. Things are changing every day with Covid so you never know.
Long time subscriber under different guises. Like the new format/infomercial style. I’m just curious about how it’s going to pay. I’ve watched your presentations at HU. Lots of branding and how to make it pay. I see no affiliated marketing or branding here. But there is still lots of love from India. Not so much from the KLR crowd. Is that enough for you tube monetization?
So how did you manage to film video in that canyon? Special permission/marketing? Serious question because it really seems like a hard place to get to.
There are giant tree stumps, giant tree limbs and roots all over the earth, and some underground because of the great flood. They became petrified. You can see the leaves when you fly over.
I started visiting Upper Antelope Canyon in the mid-1980s, when almost no one knew about it. Space over a following twenty years, I probably visited three more times. my first trip, you paid $15 to an old guy at the highway and you were on your own. Smart people hired a Najaho guide with a truck, since there is about 3 miles of sandy river bed to get to the canyon. Over the years, the tribe organized and monetized the process. My last trip, you could only go with an approved guide as part of a tour. If you wanted to do serious photography, you paid extra to usse a tripod, get a lot more time in-canyon, and to avoid tourist crowding. I have not been back in 20 years, frankly because I've shot the canyon with 35mm SLR, then a view camera, and finally a medium format SLR. Film photography is a bitch because of the extreme lighting problems. Digital is even more so I expect. Now, I am one of the lucky few who have been there, done that, to the point that I probably wouldn't go again, facing the increased crowds, restrictions and costs. The tribe has opened a new site, Canyon X, in the same area with similar features and with focus on the needs of photographers, so all is not lost to the new-comers. This video does not show what they mean by "crowds". Like of Times Square and add some stone walls.
Can we plan to view Antelope canyon & Horseshoe Bend privately without any tours? I just want to see whatever you have seen in this video. As per the website looks like Antelope canyon is closed. Could you please let me know? I would be very helpful.
Antelope canyon (Upper, lower and canyon X are 3 of the different varieties, each with a plus and minus, and each a separate owner and entrance fee) are on private land so a tour and fee is required for each. Horseshoe bend viewing is publicly available, just park and walk in about 1/2 mile to it, and 1/2 mile walk back out. So there is some cost and hassle involved, but I still strongly encourage you to pick one and see it if you can. (PS they opened back up again in early July 2021 but still at present with a mask requirement).
Im so mad I didn't know about this when I visited the Grand Canyon. But why do you say no one knew about the canyon(s) until 2009? Surely the Navajo knew they were there right?
Have to agree it's a place you do have to visit just because it is quite cool. But reading up about it before I at least knew what the experience was going to be like. Overpriced, busy and rushed. Luckily I had a nice guide who let me hang back to take photos - I just had to stay ahead of the following group. But still felt pretty rushed when I was wanting to take my time to try and get photos.
They rush you so they make more money if you come back for more, or to compel you to book a more exclusive/expensive tour package (more time and/or fewer people). Stay at the back, be sneaky. Take hundreds of pics, select/edit later. But go visit, regardless - you won’t forget it!
@@luckistryke13 Lower Antelope is out of consideration with a 2 year old with, a lot of stairs/ladder type climbing, and any goofing around could be deadly. So I would recommend Canyon X for slower paced more leisurely tour & walking, or upper (about twice the cost per person, but also more famous). However, the above is MY advice (have been there and toured) but you need to call the tour companies and ask them about a 2 and 5 year old, they will let you know what they allow, so you won't show up and me disappointed.
I am guessing the ugly truth is that they do not have photography tours anymore or tripods.. So if you want to really take a nice photo not for instagram, facebook or any other social media platform, you best rely on your smartphone.. That's ugly but true
Alex, please don't put your hands on geological formations so carelessly. As a visitor, it is one of the worst thing you can do for their conservation...
The rain and flash floods wash, cut and re-structure this area throughout the year in very profound and extreme ways . Touching this won’t leave a mark and gets washed away over time
why say pushed? tours! if you cant keep up with then demands of get in and out of the tour its not for you. they only do that so you dont get stuck in the canyon when tbe rain comes.. think about that before you criticize about the operations.

Gosh, I feel blessed to have been many years ago, when it you were allowed to walk in there by yourself and sit for ages with no one else around...

Was just there and it's indeed indeed stunning ❤👍🏼
Incredibly amazing!!!!
So what's the "ugly truth?" I must have missed it.
the turth that you need money and permissions to enter these places because of corporate greed
Awesome video..
Love from India..
And what is " The Ugly Truth " ??? I'm lost here.
❤️❤️❤️
deadly

I am very big fan of you.i love your videos from india
❤💕❤
Turns out the $6.5 million photograph was a fraud. Start to finish. I used to go to AC at least twice a year, then it got ruined.
Forget about restrictions of lenses and guides rushing the group through the canyon.
What about flash floods? That´s the real ugly truth.
👍👍👍
All the tour guides must take training at the same spot. They are always in a rush and pushy people who hate it when people take pics.

Difficult management 🤣
With so much restrictions, I would prefer not to go there.
Just make sure to bring cash
Wao 👍🇵🇰
1.5 should be enough the tour 1 hour is too rushed
This doesn’t show what it’s really like
LOL what's the "ugly truth of this magical place?" I just got trolled ...
Clickbait
My eyes say Gratitude for this one.
What is the ugly truth? 🙄!!!!
Crowded. Guide hurry up the group. Instagram wannabes. Did you watch the video?
deadly flash floods
Thumbs down because of clickbait

The rain and flash floods wash, cut and re-structure this area throughout the year in very profound and extreme ways . Touching this won’t leave a mark and gets washed away over time
Touching rock material only matters in caves. Since oil and water don’t mix; ruining stalagmites and stalactites
why say pushed? tours! if you cant keep up with then demands of get in and out of the tour its not for you. they only do that so you dont get stuck in the canyon when tbe rain comes.. think about that before you criticize about the operations.
They do it to milk the tours since you’re required to pay a tip at the end of the tour.
👍
