He said with all those tubes out he can walk better and feels a whole lot better...well he hadnt eaten for a week either...thank you both. God bless!

      My question would be, "How many did you eat?" Even though touted as healthy, and listed as a "Super Food", more isn't necessarily better!!!! Example: The first use of the term Super Food was in the early 1900's, used as a Marketing Strategy!!!, (go figure) to promote another Super Food, banana's. Great source of needed potassium, which helps with lowering blood pressure. BUT, to much potassium intake can create heart problems. Arrhythmia. We are all built differently, and may or may not be affected the same way as others, especially if on medications of one sort or another. I KNOW, bacon and sausage isn't good for me. I have at least 4 meals a week including them. However, if they added them both, to the Super Foods list tomorrow, I wouldn't start eating them Daily!!! No one is taking the "B" outta my BLT!!! at the age of 65. Best of luck Jen, just do your homework.

      I've found that gogi berries have a bitter aftertaste unless fully ripe. The signs of a really good goji
      berry are full red color, not so glossy, soft but not squishy, and easy to pull off. If you get a good one
      it is delightful, but recognising these takes practice.

      There's different kinds the leaves you have to pay attention to. The one with big oval leaves arnt sweet like the slender leaf ones.

      The flavor is tart and sour, kind of like a cranberry, with an little herbal taste. Most people make the mistake to harvest as soon as it is red and is bitter. Taste and wait so its fully ripen. Enjoy! Drying them makes them sweeter like cranberries. Enjoy

    Hi Hollis/Nancy, I have a Goji berry, it doesn't produce anywhere near the number of berries as yours, what tips can you give me to produce more fruit? Many thanks, Phil.

      I add fish in the hole when I planted it with Bone Meal and Blood Meal. Check out Part 1 of this video. It will show you how I planted it to get such beautiful berries. Next spring, side dress your plants with bone meal and blood meal by digging a circle around your plant. Add the bone and blood Meal in the circle trench and work it into the soil. Water it in. Every 3 weeks add fish emulsion to your plants.

    How do you harvest goji berries?
    According to Utah State University:
    Harvest goji berries when they reach full color (approximately 35 days after full bloom). Unlike some berries that can be shaken or beaten from the plants by mechanical harvesters, goji fruit must be picked by hand as the fruit does not easily separate from the stem, and bruised berries will turn black.

    Save Nancy the weeding chore and get a tree trimming or landscape company to drop off a full load of wood chips, it's usually free. Put a good thick layer under and around those shrubs and the weeds will not grow, same with all of your fruit trees.

      Thanks for sharing, in Florida it collects termites and fire ants

    • @Rattlerjake1
      @Rattlerjake1 4 года назад

      @@HollisNancysHomestead - Termites are EVERYWHERE in Florida (I'm a native Floridian), as far as the wood chips go, they are one of the essential creatures that help to break down the chips, just as earthworms breakdown manure. Chip don't attract them any more than your cord wood does. As far as fire ants go, there isn't anywhere in Florida that you won't find them, except in the water! Even here in North Carolina, they show up in raised gardens and containers every year. What you will need to learn is how to get rid of them when you find them. The best two ways is to use AMDRO or to use the DIY formula of orange oil, dish soap, and water. Another get deterrent is to raise some free range guineas. Guineas will travel around in the garden and eat grubs, beetles, ticks, flying ants, termites, etc. as well as harassing snakes and force them out of the area, while leaving the plants, vegetables, and fruits alone (unlike chickens). The only thing they may do that is annoying is to dust bathe in a dry spot in the garden, and many people find them noisy.
