And yeah, the new character with mum's knife or polyphemus is a lot of fun, hell, with no synergies it's just so satisfying smacking the enemies :). Did my first run completing the dark room path and Mega Satan without knowing about the soul.

Quick tips if you have any trouble. You can do unlock the character on normal and you can pick up a space bar item in boss rush and not have to worry about the feet. I did pick up the broken shovel before the last wave just in case. Not sure if it was necessary.

Car Battery is exceptionally good with the broken shovel and got me through boss rush, with car battery, the broken shovel protects you during 2 waves at a time, so if you are quick, when you get the next recharge, you basically never see moms foot ever again :) I do like that once the shovel is complete the foot stops trying to destroy you too.

Congratulations for unlocking the new character on Hard Mode with little protection. It took me many times on easy, I mean normal mode and I succeeded by lucking out getting an host hat.
When unlocking the forgotten, I was lucky to get Brimstone and then just before the fighting Mother, I got Spoon Bender. That made the challenge a whole lot easier.
This is significant lore wise, in the hush ending you see Isaac's bones in his chest, mom then burys Isaac's bones. She snaps the shovel to hide the evidence, hiding one half in the attic, hence why it falls down. And the other deep in the basement. Her feet coming down from picking up the shovel represents how she attacks people who try to find the truth.
After over 10 tries I ended up picking Mom's Knife on first floor and a Brimstone from the first deal with the devil which made unlocking him much easier.
Emergency Contact is basically a chaos card for bosses, it kills the second hush phase in one shot and ???. It doesn't one shot the lamb though, because of the splitting.
What in the hell? that's the most interesting way to unlock a new character in this game yet!... well in terms of not having to download a mod or anything and it actually being apart of the main game. Oh hey it looks like they finally made a way to distinguish whether a coin will give you a luck upgrade or not as well... which means on the off chance you ever get "Tough Love" and have Blank Card Jera or something you can guarantee yourself constant tooth shots Also does this mean that Boss rush ALWAYS gives you the 2nd half of the shovel for completing it? or did they program it so that it only happens if you get the first piece?
Well, he did say thatthe streak on savefile 2 is still there, so I guess he's actually commited to never losing an Isaac run ever again and we won't see him die in at least the next 15 days or so. The death on this episode doesn't count
