    Thank you so much for a great content. I was using free Comlianz but I am switching to Pressidium Cookie Consent, which is free for V2 consent mode.
    Do you have any experience with this plugin? I am still curious if it is good practice to merge this tags into one (google analytics tag and cookie tag whatever plugin is used). I just need to set up a thank you page as a conversion for google ads from google analytics but stop in the process because of the message in the GA4 to set up a consent mode.

      Hello there. Thanks for watching and for your kind words and the question. I’ve never used Pressidium so I’m not too much help to you.
      The basic consent mode setup seems straightforward, based on this article:
      wordpress.org/plugins/pressidium-cookie-consent/
      Might be worth it to scroll down to “Does the plugin support Google Consent Mode (GCM)” if you haven’t checked it out before. Good luck!

    Cool vid! Do I still have to use the tag manager container if I have a tag manager id/code entered into the wordpress website through a third-party plugin (GTM4WP etc)?

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hello there. Here's what I heard on this from Complianz:
      In short, yes, you still need to use Complianz to deploy the GTM container code if you're using GTM4WP. Here's how.
      1. Go to GTM4WP plugin settings and under "General" settings use the radio button under "Container Code ON/OFF" to switch to OFF.
      2. Now, go to the ComplianZ plugin. Check out Integrations → Plugins and then disable the GTM4WP integration.
      You should see GTM4WP as a detected plugin. This makes it so that GTM4WP is not blocked on the website, and your Google Tags can function in Advanced mode. Hope that helps.

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  6 месяцев назад +1

      That's a great point. I don't know exactly where the connection takes place, to be honest. What I can say is that it does work. And that I assume it's because the default behavior of the tag template is to run advanced consent mode which will automatically adjust the behavior of all the Google tags in the GTM container.
      As far as WooCommerce goes, I'm similarly not much help. if you use the GTM4WP plugin for Ecommerce tracking, there is a selection about that on this page from Complianz. Best wishes.

    • @matthieurdb7586
      @matthieurdb7586 25 дней назад

      This is probably because you are using the GTM4WP plugin.When you disable the GTM container in the GTM4WP plugin and disable the management of the GTM4WP plugin in Complianz, the "statistics" part that you are missing appears.
      Here's what Complianz says on its site about Consent Mode V2 configuration :
      "Before You Start:
      1. Remove Custom Scripts: Please delete any Google scripts or Google Tag Manager scripts you've added manually. Instead, add them through the Complianz plugin for a smoother experience.
      2 Adjust Plugin Settings: If you're using the GTM4WP plugin, add the Google Tag Manager snippet via Complianz and disable the GTM container in the GTM4WP plugin settings. Also, make sure to disable all integrations with such plugins in the Complianz → Integrations → Plugins section."

    This is really good. Would you have another video on the next steps for configuring the other tags via GTM? Eg. under the additional consent checks for tags, what do these mean and how do they work with a CMP platform? Asking because while all is denied (default), I choose to accept on the banner using the free Complianz, but the states do not update in the consent tab in GTM.

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  8 месяцев назад +2

      Ryan, thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it. Let me try and tackle your questions:
      1. Yes, I'd like to do another video. I want to show Basic consent mode and can also do more research on configuring other tags via GTM.
      2. I believe the "additional consent checks" (in using Consent Overview) are not necessary when using a tool like Complianz, since the Tag Template is already looking for those consent states based on its configuration in conjunction with the Complianz plugin. But this would be good to learn about more, especially for situations where you're not using this CMP.
      3. I understand that the Complianz tag template in the community gallery is about to get an update. Apparently, what you noticed about the consent states not consistently updating in the consent tab in GTM preview mode should be fixed soon. Great catch.

    Thanks for the video! There is one thing I don't understand and that is when you go to check Tag Assistant to see the status of the permissions, in the first column "On-Page Default", it appears empty for you, while I also get "granted/denied" statuses. And I don't know if it affects anything. Thanks again!

      @@tijsdierickx9289 got it. Thanks for clarifying. I think you are in good shape to confirm where it says enable 'Google consent Mode'.
      Once the "version 2" update was introduced last fall, the current version (v2) became the standard "Google consent mode". In other words, whether you see it called Google consent mode or Google consent mode v2, it's referring to the current iteration of consent mode which is v2.

      Are you still having the issue? I ask because I had heard that the Complianz tag was not working properly with GTM preview mode. What I heard was that the tag truly was working properly, but just not during the testing phase.
      I can think of 2 options if you're still having the issue.
      1.) Delete and re-install the tag from the community templates in GTM. They may have pushed an update through.
      2.) If you continue to have issues, you could try using the "Basic" version of consent mode (instead of the default "Advanced" version). If you want to try that, check out this article and scroll down to "Configuring Google Tag Manager" and check out "Step 3...."

      I'm sorry to hear that. I hope it's working for you now. If not, my two best recommendations would be:
      1. Check this help article complianz.io/simplified-guide-to-google-consent-mode-v2/
      and scroll down to "How to check if Google Consent Mode is working properly" to see if you test this way.
      2. Find a developer who is willing to help you. Unfortunately, there are some people (perhaps like you and me) who can follow directions but can't always take the next step when additional testing is needed. In those cases, I personally will sometimes look for a developer to help me since they are much more comfortable in those areas.
      Best wishes.

    • @rooted-digital
      @rooted-digital  8 месяцев назад

      Hi there. I believe it depends on how you enable Consent Mode. For example, if you're not using Google Tag Manager, you can still enable consent mode using the Complianz Wizard in WordPress. Just check out the "Configuring Google Tags with Complianz" section at the link below.
      complianz.io/consent-mode-for-7-0/
      But if you're using Tag Manager, you do need the template. Check out the "Configure Google Tags with Tag Manager" section in the same article.
      Let me know if that makes sense. Or, if you think I'm missing something, let me know. Thanks.

      The plugin is used to install the banner on your site, while the tag on GTM is used to add the consent states (ad_storage/ad_user_data, etc.). So, you definitely need this tag if you are using consent v2 via GTM; the plugin alone is not enough.
