Made my own. I recline in an office chair to carve. I made a plastic box that I can set in my lap. It attatches to my shop vac. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thinking of making a box like this but have it set on top of the bench since it is a multipurpose bench. Nice idea, thanks for sharing. I made mine a little large, with peg board. So i just taped off a couple rows of holes off with painters tape until i got the suction i wanted.
Thanks for showing that, and there are a multitude of ways to make it your own, for instance...I didn't want to make a box, so I used a small plastic bucket with a lip on the top to allow it to slide in from the top and catch. Then I pinched the bucket with the grating to hold it in place.

hello, I finally did it! I made the box a little bigger, but I don't think it's a problem once it's properly insulated. I had difficulty making the "gasket" with the perforated lid, because having a cheap heat gun, it is 3 times slower. I solved it by doing 2 sides at a time. I have to redo the top because I find the table too underpowered, I decided to reduce one row of holes on each side, and to make the holes at 4 mm instead of 6. for the rest I tried it, right now it sucks a... 65% of the powder, that's not bad at all! maybe with these measures I can take it beyond 70. I hope so, thanks again :)
@@MattCarves hi, I did several tests, you were right, the more holes there are, the more the suction force decreases. but the larger the holes, the more the force increases. this is strange, but I did some tests, with a plate with 4 mm holes it didn't suck anything, with a 6 mm plate it already sucked more, and with an 8 mm plate, the one I decided to use, it works even better. Also, what is the dimension of the drilled area with the holes in inches? 1)_ I also wonder, if you had kept the Box smaller, limited to just the dimensions of the hole-drilled area, would you have got stronger suction? 2)_ Would your making the Box shallower also helped provide a more effective downdraft airflow? Hi Jay C the holes are a bit of a mix about 0.16 to 0.24 inch, the spacing approx 1 inch, drilled area is 5.5 x 5.5 inches approx. I had no real reason to make it that size I thought smaller the better, and also most of my carvings are about that size. I havnt had time to experiment but I reckon you could be onto something there with a smaller box. It seems logical that it would have more suction if the box is smaller. Howdy Matt. Awesome job on the suck table 😂 If I were to do something like that, I'd have to build a stand alone that would go onto of my table cause I ain't cutting into my bench, lol. Basically it'd be a drawer box type of build with the holes on top. When not in use, I can just slide it under the table like a tool box.

I just bought my first Dremel and it's great for fixing stuff and ... creating dust! It's a dirty bastard!! I didn't anticipate that. But other than that it works great haha! This sucking table blows ... my mind!!! I need to build that. And I will build it as a unit in my DIY adapter table. What is that, you may ask? It's a sheet of plywood + legs and a hole 30x30cm on top and then a MDF board sitting on the inner rim made with a router before I cut the hole so the through hole is actually 28.5x28.5cm. What's the point with that? Well, I have several MDF boards with a power tool attached to each to make them table mounted e.g. a router, a jig saw, a circular saw and a blank for just a flat top. Saving a lot of money and space!!! Anyways ... the through hole is kind of off center 75% to one side on the big sheet and as the hole/MDF board adapter is square and symmetric I can rotate it and put any one of them in in 4 ways, front to the north, east, south, or west. That gives me different sizes of table surface for different types of jobs. So if I have the table with the hole to the left and the adapter plate with the tool to the left I have a large surface for material to the right. If I turn the adapter plate 180° around I have a small surface to the left to work on. It works sooo good. Now ... I'm in the process of getting the dust out of the system hahaha! And I also added the Dremel ... but your board would be a great solution. I have plenty of space to build a box under a MDF adapter and drill a few holes. Your best line in this video: "You can always drill more holes later". YES!!! Brilliant!

This is an awesome video and your carving are very cool good sir! I was thinking of my own set up and I wonder if one could modify a small rubber made tub in a similar fashion? I feel like it would be light weight and movable, easily cleaned and pretty close to air tight. Just brain storming because I have a metal work bench and cutting a square out of it isn’t an option currently 😂
Cheers Blue Gill Boys. Sounds like you got a plan, probably the main thing to have right is to have it air tight, the material it is made from is not to important. Rubber would be interesting though might help with lessening the vibration of the rotary tool. Good Luck 👍

Yeah I would still recommend what I did, still works great. Sorry can't really answer the vacuum question I don't know to much about them. Your probably best to look up vacuum comparison reviews. 👍

Yes it is loud, but got some good earmuffs. Power carving in general isn't quiet. Lol
