im glad you out the 6a above the 6, a couple years back i chose it ovver the regular 6 mainly because 6a was smaller and alot lighter. i didn't care about plastic back, the camera was just as good (i compared it to my friends prixel 6) and the 60hz was the only thing i noticed, but i was willing to sacrifice it for the form factor.
The only one I disagree with is the 4 ranking. I've owned a Pixel 1, 3a, 4, 6 Pro, 8, and now a 9 Pro Fold. I got the 4 at launch, and it felt like the most complete Pixel package to me, only beaten by the new Pixel 9 series. Yes the battery life was terrible, that was my only real complaint. Project Soli really elevated the way you interacted with that phone IMHO, and it's infuriating that they killed it after only using it once. It would wake up all the sensors whenever it detected you reaching for the phone, so it would unlock instantly as soon as you looked at it, and the Face ID was both secure and quick, way faster and more accurate than the under-display fingerprint scanners that existed on the following years of Pixel. The gestures were kinda gimmicky, but also nice, I used the music gestures and timer gestures many times, especially when cooking and I had stuff on my hands.
I have Pixel 4 too and I can say its Face-ID is somehow faster and work in 360° unlike my iPhone 13😂 I also really appreciate the fact it's the only Pixel with real 2× camera, which allows it to beat even Pixel 8 in 2× zoom quality. Got one for $75 and couldn't be happier
The Pixel 5a was everything the 4a was, but it had a huge battery, larger screen (for those of us who like that,) additional camera (16MP UW,) 5G support, and a better SoC. Also the last Qualcomm SoC when Tensor was having problems, the last physical fingerprint reader when the optical ones were having problems, and the last Pixel with a headphone jack. If 4a deserved S, 5a doesn't deserve C.
From someone that's been using Pixel 4 for years, i disagree completely, it's the greatest phone i've ever used, apart from the battery that is more than bad. Putting it in F just for this and the music gestures doesn't really make sense for me. The face unlock is actually the fastest unlock on any phone that has ever existed (even current iPhones), exactly because of project soli. It detects when you are about to pick it up, so by the time i've raised it it's already unlocked. I've been using it for 2 years and still often get amazed at how fast it unlocks. The air gestures are cool, but are only limited to music controls, which is so sad, they could have implemented it so much better and make a lot of useful gestures. But i still really like it for things like alarm attenuation when you bring your hand close, or to light up the always on display when you are near by. It's also so fast even after 5 years, maybe the memories are a bit outdated, but the processor is a beast, everything happens instantly and it never gets hot. The camera is really good, the design is (for me) the best of any pixel, the materials are nice, the display is 90hz, and it's small
My previous phone was the Pixel 7 Pro and the battery was absolutely horrible. Currently owning the Pixel 9 and the battery is so much better , even though it's smaller.
how the hell did the pixel 2xl with that blue tinting screen by only slight tilt get S this is my F tier in terms of pixel together with the 4 and 4 XL
Really Pixel 4 in tier f? it was flawed but it was one of the better pixels. Also face unlock works really well on it. I don't why you said it doesn't. Also the haptics were really nice on it as well.
Yeah, IMO Pixel 4 doesn't need to be in F tier, Minus-ing the battery, fingerprint scanner and ultrawide camera, it got everything that era's flagship phone should had. Good primary camera, curved display, dual speakers, wireless charging. What makes pixel a pixel? Pixel exclusive features right? Pixel 4 was the last phone to have unlimited Google photos storage. Rumor has it next lineups might see face unlock, guess what P4 was the last phone to have it. Pixel 4 definitely needs to be in C tier. Good overall phone. Daily rocking P4, got it under 200USD. Panda colored P4 is my favorite.
Sorry, but given their track record with build quality/reliability combined with the comparatively under powered SOC, plus that INSANE price, Pixel 9 series is a hard pass from me.
we need to keep the pixel camera strip across future pixels, its just so unique for pixels. i hope google doesnt kill this design (even tho they changed it a bit in pixel 9 which i dont like and its also very rounded like why)
square edges improve design and grip. The iphone four proves it. it was an immense jump in quality compared to the previous iphone. Pixel 9 is god tier for me.
I'm watching this on my Pixel 9. The edges are actually subtly rounded, enough that it doesn't dig into my hand. I like it aesthetically. But I gotta say, curved backs just feel ergonomically better to me.
Do you think it's worth trading in an S22+ to get a Pixel 9 for around $300 USD? Love the phone but the battery life sucks (getting 4-5 hours screen-on MAX).

Yeah soli+haptics were super nice, main issues imo were lack of an ultrawide and the battery

Google should drop the temp sensor and add an IR blaser. I can't tell you how many times my old xiaomi redmi 9 has saved my ass with its IR blaster.
