FDR.. is former Government fighters of Rwanda during the civil war before Kagame Government. My question is what does Kagame want to do to the FDR...fighters? Does he want to kill all of them? Usually, bad things happen in any war. The former president was murdered through a plane crush by Tutsi fighters. The Hutu fighters in retaliation massacred innocent Tutsis. One of the issues that the Great Lakes currently has is misinformation. Definitely, Tutsis is the DRC have undergone a sort of political discrimination since independence. Such discrimination against the Tutsis was shared by other minority ethnic groups including bashi, bafulero, barundi, to name a few , and to some extent large ethnic groups such as the Kasaians. Having said so, many Tutsis managed to climb ladders to higher positions in the country in politics and army under Mobutu. So were other figures in other minority communities. But what went wrong, and why Kagame not Museveni, not Buyoya, not Bagaza, nor Michombero? Kagame is not the only Tutsi to be the head of States in the Great Lakes. In Burundi, Tutsi had monopolised political and military power from the independence to 2003. In Uganda, Museveni has been ruling since 1987. Whether in Burundi and Uganda, these countries had good relationships with their neighbours. The good relationship was not merely based on fear or non-awareness of the discrimination against their brothers in Congo, rather the issue was not that alarming to the way it is now. Suddenly, the situation changed with the arrival of RPF led by Kagame on power in 1994 ( with interim president Twagiramungu). Kagame ought to exterminate members of the former Rwandan army that had fled into DRC, and that were recruiting amongst refugees in an attempt to attack Rwanda. Officially, Kagame subsequently supported the rebel movement led by Laurent Desiré Kabila against Mobutu. While Kabila was the head of the movement, the army structures were made of Rwandese. One can wonder for what purposes. 1996, Mobutu is ousted from power by Kabila’s rebel group. Kabila became president, and James Kabarebe; who is the current minister of FA in Rwanda (2024) was the chief of staff in the DRC army. Kabarebe was one of many Rwandese of origin ( who have nothing to do with DRC) to be in the army and other Rwandese served in the DRC government( as per agreement imposed by Rwanda in Kabila). The real face of Kagame then came to light. His support for regime change in DRC was not motivated by his desire to bring back and prosecute those who committed crimes in 1994, but a wider agenda to loot DRC’s mineral resources. Many Rwandans of origin came to colonise Kinshasa from 1996-1998. LD Kabila, after realising that he had been duped, attempted to chase all Rwandese from the Congolese soil in 1998. Many Rwandese got killed. A coalition of Burundi army, Uganda supported Kagame in a military operation ( to restore the Rwandese powers in Kinshasa) against CNDD-FDD rebel Group , Angola, Zimbabwe,… who backed LD Kabila. After the blatant failure to re-capture Kinshasa, Kagame’s men plotted to assassinate LD Kabila. He was killed in early 2000s by a former child soldier in obscure circumstances. Since then, the very same rebel group backed by Rwanda and made of Rwandan soldiers with some Tutsi from Congo have been changing names in their pursuit of ores looting while claiming to fight for rights of Tutsis in the DRC. Since the Congolese of other ethnic groups are aware that it is Rwanda tormenting them, real Tutsi from Congo known as Banyamulenge have been caught in crossfire, and are regularly targeted and killed by either side ( Rwandan army and their rebel movements, as well as the Congolese army or population). As clearly shown, it is Kagame and RPF who have exacerbated the tensions in the DRC. As usual, the rhetoric of genocide is invoked regularly while the real issue is not discussed. He should not attempt to showcase that he is a saviour because he is not. Many Banyamulenge are aware of the threat posed by that man. Unfortunately, they are the victims everytime as other communities have been intoxicated by what has happened in the past, and now sees them as those Rwandans who came to destabilise them from 1996. It is not colonisation as it claimed regularly, nor fight for freedom. Rather fight to control mines that go to support the Economy of Kigali.

It is very clear here that those who have caused the problems in the Congo are those who in the past armed the rebels. Those who are causing the continuation of the problems are those who continue to arm the rebels. Historically the arms reaching the rebels have been facilitated by former colonial powers and their friends and this continues to be today, even if directly by doing so indirectly through the black market they encourage and protect to ensure the rebel problem in the Congo continues. What is clear therefore if the arms cannot be stopped reaching the Congo as former colonial powers and their friends are so proficient at what they do in creating instability is that either a diplomatic solution is found that will make the rebels agree to lay down their arms and give up the spaces they control to government control, allowing them to integrate with the rest of Congo's society or the Congo government has to defeat these rebels on the battle ground by both nutrifying and arresting rebel soldiers and taking back control of the spaces the rebels control. It therefore is important to get Rwanda, and other neighbouring countries, on board with the task of notifying rebels that if they come across the Rwanda or any other boarder in future, they will be arrested and will either be put in prison in Rwanda or handed back to the Congo government where they will be put in prison, advising them that their best option is to drop their arms and not join or participate in rebel activity, and for the leadership of the rebels to reach a peaceful agreement with the Congolese government, choosing instead to join normal Congolese civilian life with their Congolese brothers and sisters. While a peaceful agreement between the Congolese government and rebels is not reached, the challenge then becomes how to provide the financial cost of holding these prisoners that will be arrested and how and which African countries to provide or build the facilities to put those arrested in the Congo or in Rwanda in prison while the fight is arranged by Congo or a coalition of African countries they invite to defeat the rebels on the battlefield. What we can see is that this is a long battle between the Congolese government and those former colonial powers and their friends that wish to see the Congo in disarray so they can continue to exploit the country, and so do all they can to ensure an environment in which arms can get into Congo and into the rebels hands. While stopping the arms getting into the Congo and into the rebels hands is a battle that should be fought against former colonial powers and their friends, it is a very difficult battle to win and so the only solution is to ensure there are no Congolese in the Congo who wish to have these arms, by either reaching a peaceful agreement through diplomacy or by both arresting and defeating the rebels on the battlefield and this will all need the help, support and participation of the countries of the region, including Rwanda, to help Congo. Congo cannot do it alone with rebels free to receive endless arms and feeling, knowing or believing they are free to run across boarders for temporary safety whenever they are in trouble before returning to fight. These is the real capacity of the challenge for Congo and why it has been so difficult for the Congo to deal with alone, fueled by former colonial powers and their friends seeking continued instability and poverty in the Congo. FDR.. is former Government fighters of Rwanda during the civil war before Kagame Government. My question is what does Kagame want to do to the FDR...fighters? Does he want to kill all of them? Usually, bad things happen in any war. The former president was murdered through a plane crush by Tutsi fighters. The Hutu fighters in retaliation massacred innocent Tutsis. This was all part of the war. This is bad history and let's burry and forge a new reconciled Rwanda. Trying to revenge on FDR... after 30 years is no longer practical. Hutus are not yet organized enough and therefore, their numerical advantage doesn't seem to pose any immediate threats. However their numerical advantage remains a double edged time bomb that no one can defuse.

One of the issues that the Great Lakes currently has is misinformation.
Definitely, Tutsis is the DRC have undergone a sort of political discrimination since independence. Such discrimination against the Tutsis was shared by other minority ethnic groups including bashi, bafulero, barundi, to name a few , and to some extent large ethnic groups such as the Kasaians.
Having said so, many Tutsis managed to climb ladders to higher positions in the country in politics and army under Mobutu. So were other figures in other minority communities. But what went wrong, and why Kagame not Museveni, not Buyoya, not Bagaza, nor Michombero?
Kagame is not the only Tutsi to be the head of States in the Great Lakes. In Burundi, Tutsi had monopolised political and military power from the independence to 2003. In Uganda, Museveni has been ruling since 1987. Whether in Burundi and Uganda, these countries had good relationships with their neighbours. The good relationship was not merely based on fear or non-awareness of the discrimination against their brothers in Congo, rather the issue was not that alarming to the way it is now.
Suddenly, the situation changed with the arrival of RPF led by Kagame on power in 1994 ( with interim president Twagiramungu). Kagame ought to exterminate members of the former Rwandan army that had fled into DRC, and that were recruiting amongst refugees in an attempt to attack Rwanda. Officially, Kagame subsequently supported the rebel movement led by Laurent Desiré Kabila against Mobutu. While Kabila was the head of the movement, the army structures were made of Rwandese. One can wonder for what purposes.
1996, Mobutu is ousted from power by Kabila’s rebel group. Kabila became president, and James Kabarebe; who is the current minister of FA in Rwanda (2024) was the chief of staff in the DRC army.
Kabarebe was one of many Rwandese of origin ( who have nothing to do with DRC) to be in the army and other Rwandese served in the DRC government( as per agreement imposed by Rwanda in Kabila). The real face of Kagame then came to light. His support for regime change in DRC was not motivated by his desire to bring back and prosecute those who committed crimes in 1994, but a wider agenda to loot DRC’s mineral resources. Many Rwandans of origin came to colonise Kinshasa from 1996-1998. LD Kabila, after realising that he had been duped, attempted to chase all Rwandese from the Congolese soil in 1998. Many Rwandese got killed. A coalition of Burundi army, Uganda supported Kagame in a military operation ( to restore the Rwandese powers in Kinshasa) against CNDD-FDD rebel Group , Angola, Zimbabwe,… who backed LD Kabila.
After the blatant failure to re-capture Kinshasa, Kagame’s men plotted to assassinate LD Kabila. He was killed in early 2000s by a former child soldier in obscure circumstances. Since then, the very same rebel group backed by Rwanda and made of Rwandan soldiers with some Tutsi from Congo have been changing names in their pursuit of ores looting while claiming to fight for rights of Tutsis in the DRC.
Since the Congolese of other ethnic groups are aware that it is Rwanda tormenting them, real Tutsi from Congo known as Banyamulenge have been caught in crossfire, and are regularly targeted and killed by either side ( Rwandan army and their rebel movements, as well as the Congolese army or population).
As clearly shown, it is Kagame and RPF who have exacerbated the tensions in the DRC. As usual, the rhetoric of genocide is invoked regularly while the real issue is not discussed. He should not attempt to showcase that he is a saviour because he is not. Many Banyamulenge are aware of the threat posed by that man. Unfortunately, they are the victims everytime as other communities have been intoxicated by what has happened in the past, and now sees them as those Rwandans who came to destabilise them from 1996.
It is not colonisation as it claimed regularly, nor fight for freedom. Rather fight to control mines that go to support the Economy of Kigali.

It is very clear here that those who have caused the problems in the Congo are those who in the past armed the rebels. Those who are causing the continuation of the problems are those who continue to arm the rebels. Historically the arms reaching the rebels have been facilitated by former colonial powers and their friends and this continues to be today, even if directly by doing so indirectly through the black market they encourage and protect to ensure the rebel problem in the Congo continues. What is clear therefore if the arms cannot be stopped reaching the Congo as former colonial powers and their friends are so proficient at what they do in creating instability is that either a diplomatic solution is found that will make the rebels agree to lay down their arms and give up the spaces they control to government control, allowing them to integrate with the rest of Congo's society or the Congo government has to defeat these rebels on the battle ground by both nutrifying and arresting rebel soldiers and taking back control of the spaces the rebels control. It therefore is important to get Rwanda, and other neighbouring countries, on board with the task of notifying rebels that if they come across the Rwanda or any other boarder in future, they will be arrested and will either be put in prison in Rwanda or handed back to the Congo government where they will be put in prison, advising them that their best option is to drop their arms and not join or participate in rebel activity, and for the leadership of the rebels to reach a peaceful agreement with the Congolese government, choosing instead to join normal Congolese civilian life with their Congolese brothers and sisters. While a peaceful agreement between the Congolese government and rebels is not reached, the challenge then becomes how to provide the financial cost of holding these prisoners that will be arrested and how and which African countries to provide or build the facilities to put those arrested in the Congo or in Rwanda in prison while the fight is arranged by Congo or a coalition of African countries they invite to defeat the rebels on the battlefield. What we can see is that this is a long battle between the Congolese government and those former colonial powers and their friends that wish to see the Congo in disarray so they can continue to exploit the country, and so do all they can to ensure an environment in which arms can get into Congo and into the rebels hands. While stopping the arms getting into the Congo and into the rebels hands is a battle that should be fought against former colonial powers and their friends, it is a very difficult battle to win and so the only solution is to ensure there are no Congolese in the Congo who wish to have these arms, by either reaching a peaceful agreement through diplomacy or by both arresting and defeating the rebels on the battlefield and this will all need the help, support and participation of the countries of the region, including Rwanda, to help Congo. Congo cannot do it alone with rebels free to receive endless arms and feeling, knowing or believing they are free to run across boarders for temporary safety whenever they are in trouble before returning to fight. These is the real capacity of the challenge for Congo and why it has been so difficult for the Congo to deal with alone, fueled by former colonial powers and their friends seeking continued instability and poverty in the Congo. Peace and love.
