Hi...I own a svartpilen 250 from India could you please help me with the upgrades that can help increasing the performance and mileage and the other things if you insist.
A lot of vibration is because of the stock tyres. If you are on tarmac then put on road rubber. It's much better. Mirror extenders are essential - allows you to keep the Mickey Mouse ears mirrors and see behind also. Adjusting the clutch lever so it engages nearer the handlebar helps smoother shifting.
Haven't changed the Scorpions to a more road-oriented tires yet since the threads are still good - it is a great tire. I also check the clutch lever play regularly due to usage in PH traffic 😅
@4:11 dude you can simply say the english translation of the Svartpilen. If someone asks you what you drive you can just say black arrow 401. Nothing wrong with what husqy named the model. You should be proud of that swedish name. Thats unique.
Agree that it is unique dude, liking it is subjective though. But the eng transalation is cringey. Maybe Pilen SCR (scrambler) and CR (cafe racer) 401? 😂🤣
I have the 2022 svartpilen 125. First thing I did was swap the stock mirrors for bar end mirrors. They work so much better and I can see now without having to dip my shoulders. Finding neutral can be a pain in a hole, especially when you wear adventure boots. It takes some skill and practice to learn the clutch. About the ground clearance, I'd have to agree and wish I had more of it so I could safely mount curbs without worrying about the exhaust. I do wonder why the ground clearance is so low, like you say, this is meant to be a scrambler/adventure/urban explorer. You would think they would just keep the exhaust routing like the duke. Another thing I'd add to the list that you didn't mention is that aftermarket parts for husqvarna are hard to come by when compared to the KTM. Ofcourse, most things made for the KTM duke of the same year will fit the svartpilen but it would be nice if companies specifically stated if their products e.g crash bars/bungs do fit the svartpilen/vitpilen. A part from these issues, which to be fair aren't that big of a deal, the bike is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone wanting anstarter bike. The bike is just so much fun and so god damn beautiful to look at. I love my husky!
You nailed it right off the bat my dude. As much as I like this bike and want to love it, the seat height vs the ground clearance is always something that has really bothered me about it. I just wish it was a little more than a Vitpilen with a handful of swapped parts. The styling is great though. Thanks for the feedback. Safe riding.
The seat height vs clearance is not a deal breaker for me though, since I only ride on-road. Except when there is a pillion, some speedbumps here in the PH are notoriously high, it scrapes on the bottom of the 401. Appreciate the support! Ride safe too!
Great video. As an American, the 401 is a very small bike, but I have fallen in love with it and am considering it. I think for the most part, about half of your issues wont be issues for me, but I am looking forward to a things you love list which I see off to the side, that I am going to watch next. All in all I wanted to say I enjoyed the video, and the addition of the memes really made it a fun watch.
To easily get to neutral gently tap down from second gear. Response is slightly delayed sometimes but way easier than taping up from first. I have a 2022 and would also add auto shifter is clunky especially at higher RPM and anytime I shift from 5th to 6th.
The early models of the Svartpilen didn't have the exhaust at the underbelly but to the left side then down on between the suspension and engine, I don't know why Husqvarna changed it but what I've seen people buying the 2019 exhaust set to bring the exhaust back to where the early versions had.
Agree. Looking to changing the exhaust back to 2019 too but not sure if the catalytic can be reversed so that the pipe will connect on the top end, and not at the bottom... I saw some owners deleting the cat but I would like to retain it for a more tamed noise 😉
@@ajprawns I have a 2018 model with the pipe at the side, and it gets really, really hot in summer.. I mean, I want to stick my left leg out in the air like a lizard to avoid it sometimes. Maybe that's why they changed it.
It’s the horrible Euro 5 rules, emissions allowed are ridiculously low, so exhaust changed to under bike to clear extra electronic parts, plus jerky throttle response from over lean fuelling. So you have to the engine more and use a lower gear, which increases the emissions!

Just change the lower link to lower down the seat height. For vibration just install a fork brace and fork damper, this would improve the handling and stability also. As for the default side mirror, this is a street bike bro. Which mean the seating position make you straighten your body for maximum comfort and if you replace it with those cafe bike side mirror, your arm is going to obstruct the mirror and you probably need to every time tilt your neck down to look at it (this is extremely ergonomic unfriendly). Single cylinder is often torquey, which mean pickup is going to be very powerful and engine brake is going to be very harass if you close the throttle too fast. You need to get the hook of it. As for neutral gear, I don't get what you mean by hard to find, after all it is in between 1st and 2nd gear.. Just kick all the way up till you reach 1st gear and then slightly step down to get the neutral. Not meant to insult but I think it is because you are too short for the bike which make it hard for your leg to fully engage the gear (which is why you find it hard to get the neutral). That goes back to my first recommendation, change the lower link to lower the bike would solve the problem. My 30 over years of bike experience, the neutral problem only revolve around hard to engage (never hard to find). Often this can be improved by changing it to the hydraulic assist clutch cable.
