  • The Indian women's kabaddi team registered a humongous 50-13 win over hosts Nepal to win a gold medal at the South Asian Games 2019. It was their fourth consecutive gold medal at the South Asian Games, showing complete dominance over their opponent teams.
For India, Sonali Shingate started the proceedings with a bonus point, followed by quick raid points by Pushpa and Sonali. However, Nepal raiders also kept on accumulating points from the other end, giving India a tough competition in the first half. They increased the pressure on the Indian team, as they trailed by only four points (10-14) as the first half ended.
In the second half, the Indian women's team bounced back to inflict the first all out on the hosts. The Indian raiders seemed to be on roll as they went on to pick back to back points. The Indian defense of Ritu Negi and Harvinder Kaur kept a tight watch on the Nepali raiders, making sure they do not steal away a point. India scored a total of 36 points in the second half of the match, while Nepal could only manage three.
India had defeated Sri Lanka 53-14, Bangladesh 47-16 and Nepal 43-19 in the preliminary stages to reach the finals. They maintained a 100% win record at the SAG 2019 to clinch the gold medal.
