Staking up a square basket

In this video Jonathan Coate is using a clever little gadget developed here to make staking up easier. It fits onto a normal drill and it is used by all of our basket makers now, even the ones who always swore they never would. It is available from our website.

Thank you for this video! I just attempted to make a square basket, and was not sure how short to trim bottoms of inserted stakes.

When you insert a vertical stake, does it go through both horizontal bottom rods, or just the first, and comes out above the second one? Thanks again

Thanks for you message. Yes the stake has gone through both base sticks. There are two base sticks to give the basket more strength, it is not something we do with all square baskets.
