    Very interesting discussion! Would love to hear about neurological diseases / autoimmune conditions and the link to the gut! I have recently been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and apparently many have a gut dysbiosis / altered microbiome. I have always eaten healthy in my life though / been a vegetarian + get plenty of veg / fruit etc. I did take NSAIDS when I was much younger - perhaps these can also alter / permanently damage the gut microbiome... I have seen FMT microbiome transplants in MS patients have also helped individuals with symptoms. There is definitely a gut - brain connection!

      Why dont you do a gut test? Seein the ecosystem might open up avenues for bringing back Eubiosis to your gut. Sometimes Prevotella copri can take over fibre rich guts if you eat too much of one food or have a higher than desirable raw veg.

      @@pardisgissendanner6604 definitely trying to eat a more diverse diet that is for sure :) Also occasional fasting to reduce some sugar based bacteria. Good suggestion though it is on my list of things to take a look at in the coming months! Definitely would be good to map out this missing bacteria / try to create a "normal" ecosystem. I find it interesting how individuals with MS have this altered gut microbiome - I wonder what the triggers are! :)

    Enjoyed this one a lot. Thanks for doing it. I am not really sold on the bulk fiber concept though. I eat mostly carnivore and very little fiber and my bowels work fine. Usually one movement a day. Ha. The little fiber I get comes from fruit I only eat once or twice a week.

      Yup I have similar feelings, and think it’s similar to the analogy of dietary cholesterol and blood serum cholesterol in that the biggest influence is the health of our switchboards (and therefore ALL THINGS that play a role in our thermostats).
      Bottom up vs top-down approaches.

      You ever do and stool samples? Just curious if you are tracking your microbiome diversity as you progress on your carnivore journey. I hear lots of people on carnivore claim their gut microbiome diversity increases on carnivore, yet I haven’t found anyone who actually shows the sample documents over time to show the diversity increase, so then it’s just their word that it’s happening. Thanks!

      @@joe1071 No I have not bothered to get a sample done? Why would I if everything works fine? I never claimed to have a diverse gut microbiome. I suspect that my way of eating would result in a less diverse situation simple because there are fewer food types. Do you think diversity automatically means better?

The more we learn about the gut microbiome the more we understand diversity is better, but I’m always open to suggestions otherwise. I was just pointing out that a lot of the carnivore influencers also believe microbiome diversity is better or else they wouldn’t claim their diversity is increasing while on carnivore. Always looking for more clarity on the topic

      @@joe1071 I’ve actually heard the opposite, that microbiome diversity dwindles on carnivore, which makes complete sense to me since there’s little to no fiber to feed the microbes. I did okay on carnivore but my constipation is pretty terrible on it so I’m changing things up, more carbs, fiber and doing better than I have in years. So far. Everyone is unique though, so there’s no one WOE that works for everyone. I’m curious about all this stuff too!

    What I find incredibly interesting is when someone is against a particular theory, they are willing to treat everything with a broad stroke, but when they are in favor of something, they are quick to draw attention to the nuance.

    I use to suffer with a lot of gut issues, couldn’t eat anything that I preferred to, years of alcohol & drug abuse did not help 🤦🏽‍♂️ so I decided to fix my life from the abuse I have caused on myself. Started eating once a day with a window of 6 hours in the afternoon with intermittent fasting- 18 hours no food only water & vitamin-D Supplement, the window of 6 hours I can eat most foods carefully 😬 now. Stay away from processed crap 😳I feel much better, no issues, looking younger more active 👌🏾🏆💯 I swear no word of a lie I recommend anyone to try this to get your life n gut in order. I am 48 now & feel Awesome👌🏾💯🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Water is key 🏆 try cooking your own food guys, we have all heard the saying “you won’t put diesel in a petrol car” , start to learn to understand your body 👑

    My father has THE worst gut issues as in constipation from multiple medications he is on. He takes stool softeners daily. I've tried to talk to him ans help him with water intake, fever intake, and so forth, but what would you recommend for someone in this situation?

      My take after watching this is maybe for a short while after you take some antibodies for an infection or something. Other than that eat whole foods no processed stuff and the bugs will probably take care of them selves. However, that is kind of what I thought before watching it ha. Dr Devkota was pretty clear on how little is known about the microbiome.
