Oh nice.. I drove down there to park and hike on that trail a long time ago. Every time I'd checked it seemed like it kept saying that camp or trail was closed in recent years. I was thinking maybe a wildfire destroyed things so it's nice to see everything healthy at the campsite and along that road.
I remember encountering a huge gorgeous meadow along a rapids hiking down the trail a ways.

Such a beautiful, lush area! I haven’t been on the trails yet, but have heard only good things! I know that the Hermits Peak fire closed the forest down, maybe even for a couple years.
      Thanks for watching!!

Hi there! Just found my next westward campground lol. After the southern foray. About 12.5 hours from SW Missouri. Stay one night at either Cimarron National Grassland (free), Alibates Flint Quarry (free and reservable sites and a really neat place north of Amarillo) or Cap Rock Canyon, Palo Duro canyon, both Texas State Parks and nice! Thanks much!

Hey there! They all sound like great places, I’ve heard of Caprock & Paulo Duro Canyons but had to look them all up. Very cool places! I love figuring out routes and new places to camp! Looks like good times ahead! 🏕️

I do too (and so does my dog)!
I filmed the sites on May 8th and drove thru the campground on May 30th. It’s a really nice campground!

Great video and informative…. I’ll be car camping in about three weeks in the Santa Fe- Taos area-never been, driving from South Carolina. How much is a small spot for car camping? Thanks

      Oh awesome!
$22 at Santa Barbara. There are some cheaper campgrounds in that area too La Junta Canyon has some nice designated dispersed sites for $12, Upper La Junta Campground $12 or $14, Comales $14. There’s also Agua Piedra for $24.
Enjoy your time here and let me know if you have any other questions!
