AccuWeather isn't always accurate! They seem to brag excessively when they are right, but silent when they are wrong. Except for Bernie. They are lucky to have him.
The euro had the storm flattening and holding south. But didnt have the 2nd wave of snow coming on the back end The gfs had it way more north and the 2nd wave if snow. The nam had it south with the 2nd wave .so basically the euro held on this storm but the 2nd wave of snow came thru. The dry air stayed longer than they expected and almost all the weather guys (online) thought the gfs was going to be right. Where as tv guys bagged on the euro beung right as it has tend to been right since 2017. The gfs has been more bust than boom last 7yrs
A day out from the storm and it’s looking like the Euro was almost exactly on for this one, it’s unreal how good some of these computer models are getting!
Bernie, I had an interest in meteorology since high school. Was able to take advanced meteo classes the year I graduated from college. That was 1975. Each professor in each class didn’t want to hear the term “warm front.” Back then, a warm front was warmer air filling in where cold air was retreating. What is the theory associated with the term “warm front” today, 50 years on?
Bernie, thanks for the thorough and honest assessment. I live in northwestern VA. The past few winters have been disappointing for snow lovers here. At least the cold spell will help to reduce the insect wildlife populations that have been out of control.
Damn, NYC would be smacked dead and crippled hard in a chaotic fashion from a possible very severe winter storm or the first blizzard since 2016 this weekend if it's possible in the forecast 5 days from now, let's see if the GFS models are right about this.. if yes, this will be historic for New Yorkers. 😮

Well, I am up here in the Northeast, New Jersey. Cleaned out my Carb on the snowblower. This just might turn out to be a "Weekend with Bernie", should he decide to pay us a visit to the N.E. That will give the time needed to cleanup and head back to work Monday morning. Bet ya got jumpy feet until Wednesday. If it does happen to pay us a visit...I am going to name the storm, Bernie.
Hi Bernie! Any chance north central Illinois gets a good snowstorm? I am starving for one. Dallas is going to get more in this storm than we had the last two years combined! Thing of it is I moved from south central Indiana in 2020 and they had more snow than here also in one storm than us in the last two. 😞.
This is a wait and see situation to see what goes where. If the European model has a bias towards a weak storm and the GFS is showing something bigger for the North east…. But you’re not sure, we’ll have to wait to see how it all sets up.
GFS has that “ rubber band” CUTTING through the southeastern “ Capitol “ area part of Louisiana as it moves through & AIMS for the eastern seaboard !! That’s A DRASTIC DIFFERENCE.
This was by far the hardest to follow, most annoying, and least informational forecast I've ever seen. Useless for travel planning. Flip the models once or twice, fine, but "GFS, EUROPEAN" over and over? Worthless and annoying.
So meteorologist created four diffrent models instead of one that can determine the most likely senerio. So if your american before you go into the bathrooom and GFS when you leave that must mean European while your in.
Thank you ! North east and other areas use salt truck every 1/2 hr. And plow truck I have driven after 10” snow for public utility make sure roads are safe to drive . Texas ??? Joke 1 inch snow everyone stock ! Or 2021 February little snow on 35w many died 125 cars crashed . Shame , shame , shame ,,, totally preventable . One life lost too many my son and laws employee died leaving 2 kids fatherless . Backwards . Texas needs to come to 21 century and make some effort make people safe . For nurses and others have to drive to go to work risking their lives for roads have no preparation like salt and plow .

No we had a blizzard of about 2 feet of snow in the end of january 2021
We had some bad storms in 2018 also

La Niña winters do not typically afford conditions needed to support true Nor’ Easter
