A credit to Wales. There is something special for youths to participate in this. They carry forward that Wales is a land of song. Long may they continue to sing in adulthood also and form an adult malevoice choir.
I could listen to these boys singing every day, beautiful
Amen to listening to them every day!!
This group of young men is extraordinary. They are allowed to sing with a true authentic male sound, with natural intonation, which is refreshing. The diction is excellent, and all the other music parameters are exicuted with outstanding musicianship and musicality. The use of bare feet is superb! It allows for great posture, (no shoe heels) and note how much easier and more natural it is to keep the feet just a bit more than hip-width apart. The bare feet grounds the boys to better support the body’s core, allowing better breath control and a richer tone. Bare feet also allows the skin of the feet to sense the vibrations from the wood surface to provide an additional physical sensation of the music. Together, a lasting experience for the young men, and a most musical experience for all. Congratulations!
I have watched OBA since its inception with such
enjoyment
Thank you so much for your professional analysis of their performance; you taught me much.
I'm impressed how none of the boys move their feet at all, during the entire performance. It's like the bare feet connecting them through the wood floor to each other is essential for the performance. I love these guys and I hope this group continues the male vocal tradition for a long time. Great work, boys!
Welsh Male Voice Choirs are just so amazing..it seems to sit in the blood & soul!
As a Welshie, I will agree with you, just part of us and I hope always will be 🌈♥️
I agree that Welsh Male Voice Choirs are exceptional. I wish the USA more men would in the spirit of singing more like this. It would be a great discipline for young men.
It's hard to imagine anything more inspirational than this Welsh group and the Welsh culture. They leave me feeling there is hope for this chaotic world in such turmoil.
Can't get enough of these guys. Brilliant. And their pronunciation of "true love" just makes me grin.
A young Welsh celebration of traditional Scottish folk culture. So beautiful draws inevitable tears.
The lyric that always gets me is, "And the world knows not how we are grieving." Gorgeous.
Perhaps my favorite performance by Only Boys Aloud
These Welsh ears love this. Hope my Scottish sisters and brothers do too.
Now that is an outstanding example of A Cappella! My mother sang in an A Cappella group for many years and would have been thrilled to hear you. Well done all!
Absolutely stunning !!!...... I struggled at first to believe these lads were Welsh ....just WOW !!❤️
That lovely interlude that sounds so marching-esque, thanks to that, neither of the soldiers never walks home alone, surrounded by their brothers, home to Scotland they fly, leaving sorrow behind.
Outstanding rendition.
Tells a wonderful and sad story beautifully. The conductor is a genius.
I've been following OBA ever since I saw their audition on Britain's Got Talent. Tim Rhys Evans has done a magnificent job training them up to be a first class choir. My wife and I hope to visit Wales one day and would love to attend a rehearsal, as well as a performance.
Lovely arrangement with beautiful voices. Thank you for the music 🎶
Absolutely stunning! Shivers and tears. Thank you for your music!
These guys never cease to amaze! Stunning arrangement and excellent execution. Bravo!
I recently came across this choir when I found Tom Hier singing showtunes (along with Steffan Hughes). I've been listening to everything I can find and I'm teaching myself some of the songs with Welsh lyrics - not easy for a Yank. I'm looking forward to listening to new material.
Beautiful! I like that it voices only, no instrumental accompaniement. Both solo artists are amazing.
Brilliant. Reminders of my home country and the pleasures I had a Loch Lomond on a trip in 2014.
I've never heard this song sun more beautifully. So well done, boys. {HUGZ}
Li am 67 & my grandfather sang this song to me as a child. Wonderful experience.
This was one of the best renditons of this song that I have ever heard! Truly beautiful!
post more often pleaseeeee i live for these boys
Whoa... This is the best version on all of RUclips! Well done, lads!
amazing! nothing compares to the sound of an a cappella male choir - you can feel it as well as har it. This is one of the best recordings ever, surely!
Congratulations - lovely. Wonderful to have a world class choir made up of boys and young men. There are many treble choirs but not so many that feature older boys and give them the opportunities that are unfolding for these lads. Beautiful voices.
Astonishingly beautiful tone and harmonies
OBA Never fails to capture my heart with the pure voices and crisp harmony's. Thank you for posting
GOD'S blessings on these boys and their family's and the whole organization!
I just love this song! I guess I am going to have to travel to see them!
American woman here who's Dear Father used to sing this (one of many) song to me, and told me the true story of it as a young girl. Which makes it all the more beautiful. Thank you young men!
beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my gosh what a beautiful rendition. The Scots accents of course authentic just were that much more amazing. I was brought almost to tears by this one, thank you!
philipem1000 If you are hearing a “Scots” accent, then it’s not authentic. These boys are all from the valleys of southern Wales, so it’s probably a Welsh accent you’re hearing.
@@seamus1956 I cannot claim to be an expert and I know the boys are Welsh, I am however assuming someone coached them for this song because what I hear is definitely not what I think of as a Welsh accent.
Yes the boys are Welsh but I believe in their translation to English there has to be some change in dialect. I met someone recently and thought she was from Ireland and she said no I am from Scotland. Let's not get too bogged down on this issue. For example, I am from New England but now live in the south. Although we are all Americans we have different dialects depending on where you live such as north, south. west, etc
@@philipem1000 they done well with the scottish accent didn,t they, the rolling r helped and the ch sound at the end of loch helped as its the sound at the start of so many place names in wales.
Watched this again and I have to say it brings goosebumps to my flesh. I don't think I have ever enjoyed a rendering of this old Scottish favourite as much as this one. What a wonderful choir.
My father and his choir sang this exact song in 2018 at Llangollen International Eistedfodd!! Awesome memories. Some day I´ll return to Wales.
Listening to these boys makes me at peace
Wonderful to see the boys new age group coming through. Love from South Africa 🇿🇦
What a wonderful discovery of this new choral group. Their performance was just terrific, and their rendition of Loch Lomond was most poignant and effective.
What a wonderful singing ! This song is impressed my heart.
I had the pleasure of hearing this choir when I searched BGT. I was captivated by their voices and the song. It gave me goosebumps. I wanted to comment so you all know how deeply moved I was by the performance. Thank you
Listening in 2021, fantastic and well done to all. Love Wales it’s in my blood.
And now I am, too...once again!
Which reminds, & inspires, me to pull out the cd...once again!
Been listening to this rendition like for god knows how lomg already.... still loving this...
Great young boys ! Respect to you from Hungary...
Just wonderful musicianship, clear, sweet sound, fun!
These guys are incredible. Fabulous.
A truly great performance of a great song! The young boy tenor at the beginning is wonderful
The arranger of this version of Loch Lomond is by Jonathan Quick, conductor of Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir. We sang this on the banks of Loch Lomond

In August this year, I will be able to walk on the side of Loch Lomond, and this song is so beautiful, it makes me longing to go. They way you sung this beautiful song is just beyond. Thank you so much, you filled my heart with love and longing for Scotland.
This is beautiful, and the young men range in age. Just lovely. Thank you for sharing. ❤👍
As a South Wales brass player of 40 yrs & a chorister for over 10 yrs, can I say wow & bravo!!! What a stunning performance & arrangement. Music is in my family & soul & this is just remarkable. The tradition of Welsh music should live forever. Thank you for making this happen.
OBA has reached a new high of quality with this recording. Well done all!
Both soloists are brilliant
Their bare feet keep their 'soles' in touch with the depth of their powerful and beautiful voices.
Revised comment---just wanted to thank you for posting this. I "followed" and will look forward to hearing more great things from these lads. Stirring stuff..... and sweet to see such young people enjoying these grand old songs. Unless the repertoire needs to stay on your (lovely) side of the pond, it would be wonderful to hear them sing, "Oh Shenandoah".
This is unbelievably outstanding! It grabs your attention and keeps it throughout the entire performance. Congratulations on a job well done!
This makes my soul happy. Thank you for posting.
The sound of the heaven, greetings from Brazil
Wonderfully Done! Loch Lomond is a beautiful piece of music and the boys sing it beautifully.
Fantastic! So nice to see TTBB music celebrated and done so well.
Great voices and song. The second solopart was a dream! Good job guys!
A song sung nice is entertaing - a song done right touches your heart and creates an emotional stir! These lads are so gifted - and if your heart was not moved by their singing you´re dead!
Incredible! Everyone associated with OBA Academi should take great pride in what they accomplish. OBA Academi has a new fan in Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A.
beautiful these guys are great - thank you for all the hard work it shows - should be very very very PROUD of yourselfs.
An excellent performance. Great balance and diction.
Wonderful controlled harmony. I'll be sharing this with our Junior School - Young Voices Choir as inspiration. Thank you
By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes,
Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond,
Where me and my true love were ever wont to gae
On the bonnie, bonnie banks o' Loch Lomond.
Chorus:
O ye'll tak' the high road, and I'll tak' the low road,
And I'll be in Scotland a'fore ye,
But me and my true love will never meet again,
On the bonnie, bonnie banks o' Loch Lomond.
'Twas there that we parted, in yon shady glen,
On the steep, steep side o' Ben Lomond,
Where in soft purple hue, the hieland hills we view,
And the moon coming out in the gloaming.
The wee birdies sing and the wildflowers spring,
And in sunshine the waters are sleeping.
But the broken heart it kens nae second spring again,
Though the waeful may cease frae their grieving.
Chills. I've certainly never heard it sung like this before. It was my Scottish Grandad's favourite song, so says my mum (he was from Sterling). Quite a look too with the lights and all barefoot.
There is something about the way they sing the songs that make their version somehow better then the originals
@@yamiatemyugi Dinnae be daft laddie , the Scots ken the best how tae sing the song
Do you mean Stirling?
Oh yeah, missed that. @@robinhunt9772
Cannot say how happy I am to see this on my suggested list♥️💯 by far one of the best boys choirs I’ve ever heard!! I went weak when I heard this beautiful beautiful harmony😭 keep it up boys and make more magic pleaseee!!
This is realy quite, quite good. And the"jazzy" part refers to the tragic story which is at the back of the song - the refrain should be a military march, and the jazzy part evokes that...
Loved this rendition
Do you know how many times I have tried to source choirs who can sing this with the authentic accent. This is really really beautiful. I am going to listen to it again and share it with Scottish relatives now.
Viva Caledonia
Beautiful angelic voices given to you by Almighty God. My favourite song is Calon Lan. Don't understand a word of it but have goosebumps all over and the melody and harmony, is perfect. Keep being blessed. From an Aussie Gal living in Canada.
What a great version!
Absolutely sounds beautiful, the blending of their voices is great.
Amazing and uplifting voices... They looked like they really enjoyed the experience as well
Absolutely first class!
Best Loch Lomond I've ever heard. Loved it
So glad I stumbled across this version! So awesome!
What's amazing to me is that none of these boys auditioned.
very well done a pleasure to listen to
Awe inspiring! Their voices are superb, singly and collectively.
Just beautiful.
The singer at around 2:40 is so good, so sweet singer, pure and clear voice.
Yes John, you are right, I thought the same. The other boy is quite good as well and mentioned a few times, but in fact the 2nd lad is maybe not the choirboyvoice we are used to, but representing a voice that has grown from boy to young man. Very natural. But bless them all for the final result. Like the bare feet. Not new , but for choirmembers it certainly is, I suppose. And seeing a young generation enjoying an old traditional is encouraging! Thanks from the Netherlands. 12 votes for you after the day of the European Song Contest!!
I love this group. They are inspirational!
What can I say great and greatly appreciated 100% thanks
Love that indeed. Outstanding Performance.. 👏👏👏
Incredible.
Absolutely fantastic choral beauty! I have been following OBA and OBA Academi for a long time, and they just keep getting better all the time! What a great opportunity for these young men to express themselves in this choral group. The best!
Beautiful! My grandda say this to us as children. Great memories. Thank you 😊!
Hauntingly beautiful.
Brilliant. Thank you.
what an awesome arrangement and performance.
You made my Day, great Sound
I can't decide which was the most stunning...The delivery of the Song or the singing it with a brilliant Scottish accent. You actually sounded more Scottish than a Scots Choir.:)
I thought that too
I'm Scottish btw
Of course! One has to sing this song with a Scottish dialect; it's a Scottish song. I mean, if you are singing the aria from Madame Butterfly you should be singing in Italian. Right?
This was something exceptional. They must be so proud of this. Well done OBA.
Flippin' gorgeous.
Beautiful!!
