Never was an Amy Winehouse fan, until my vacation these past few days. Finally heard this song and the amount of emotion and soul she poured into this is just overwhelming. Sorry but I can’t be the only one to get tears of happiness listening to this. It’s so beautifully done.
Amy Winehouse captivated and absolutely mesmerized me from the first time I heard her on her first album Frank. With that contralto voice and the way she delivered her songs blew me away. This song Valerie evokes such powerful emotions in me in a reaction to it. It moves me and I love the cadence of the song. Amy just delivers it in such a way. I am 66 years old now and have always loved music since I was cognizant of it at 3 years old. I loved Dinah Washington and Billie Holiday and Etta James, Sarah Vaughn and Dusty Springfield as icons of the blues. But Amy Winehouse moved me as the Beatles did in 1962 and 1963 with their first songs. Her music uplifted me and moved me.

John LaStrada This comment was so annoying. You probably never heard a song of hers until after she died - she was a classically trained jazz musician and her first album was pure jazz infusion to the point where they didn’t know how to market it. Seriously that was so annoying to read.
We lost so many good singers. Amy Whitehouse, Whitney Houston, I could go on, no one can duplicate these voices. May God bless them 🙏. You are truly missed.
John Beasley correct! And one of the reasons why she couldn't handle alcohol is because she had all the intern organs very resented for the bulimia and all her body was very weak ...so alcohol was too aggressive for her body... If we are being technical....
