This song is basically about suicide. It is about how billie wanted to kill herself a few years ago.(i stepped off the golden). In her dream she was dead and nobody cared including her fans and family etc but when she woke up her brother (who is her co writer,producer and best friend) told her that as long as he is there noone can hurt her. Finneas refused to make a song about billie wanting to kill herself so they made the song about their strong relationship
This song was inspired by an actual dream the she had, as described. She was quite depressed and suicidal at that period of her life about a year and a half ago. Finneas and Billie had a fight as he did not want to produce a song about suicidal thoughts without a positive resolution. Her parents weighed in too. So they dropped the song and she rediscovered her initial vocal recording from the prior year. Thankfully, since early 2019 she improved greatly with some therapy and adjustments to her touring schedule, bring friends along, etc. So they added the verse about their love for each other and released another #1 hit, late last year.
oh my fucking god this isn’t true at all they’ve never ever been into a big fight... and billie parents are super supportive and loved the song since the beginning. there’s literally a whole best commercial on how this song was made. don’t go around telling people things that aren’t true
@@javierbennett5778 Read Finneas' interview. He said that he refused to develop her song if it was just about her suicidal dream, with no resolution. Billie locked herself in her room, and the parents also intervened and the song was dropped. Maybe this is what made her agree to therapy. The family worked to modify the tour schedule, let her bring friends along, etc. A year later she revisited the and Finneas added his contribution, mainly the chorus.

Javier Bennett it is true, they talk about it in an interview and finneas really didn’t want billie writing a song about her suicide
This song is about her killing herself, She said she had a dream and she jumped of the golden gate bridge and nobody cared hence the lyrics" i stepped of the golden nobody cried nobody even noticed saw them standing right there" But when she woke up her brother told her that its okay, the lyrics: " but when i wake up i see you with me, and you say as long as im here no one can hurt you, if i can change the way you see yourself, they dont deserve you." Basically she is saying that they will die together and that they will always be there for each other :)

In case you did not notice, the stuff outside is following the beat, so subtle and yet so fkn genius. Love her and her brother. the music and ideas go right to my soul. And yeah I'm a massive Metal guy.

Bono recently turned sixty and did his top sixty list and for all the artists still alive he wrote them letters of appreciation. I guess it should not come as a surprise, Bono's pretty good with words he wrote a great letter to Billie and Finneas for this song.
Billie also directed her video "Xanny". I like that song because it's exactly the way I feel. I don't drink or smoke either. I can relate very closely to most of her songs.
Watch the lights on top of the sky scrappers and how everything that they pass is in time with the beat, and the golden gate bridge and even Billies eye lids keep time with the beat at one point earlier in the video

Billie directed the video for this. I think this is about her going through a long depression, and her brother Finneas is always there for her--even when she's "underwater." She had real trouble with fame and social media.

In another video a Priest said that Billie is an artist that makes u listen to the lyrics not just the beats n music. In the 3 videos of ur reactions ur not listening to the text at all n you should. they are important.
I would recommend copycat and my boi from billie its more up beat and also a different side of here music.
I'll add that to my list. I'm really liking her mellow tunes but I'd like to listen to more of the up beat stuff :) Thank you!

The song is about her when she had a dream and she jumped of the golden brigade and everyone was watching her but they didn’t care she told her brother about it but he and there mum and dad didn’t want Billie to post the song or write it but they finally let her so the hole meaning it is her want to die and it’s sad because she has been so close to jumping out a window.

She struggled with the fame and all of the stuff that comes with it for awhile and was suicidal at one point while on a world tour

Janjira Williams They can be. After losing a close family member and a friend to suicide I noticed something. Both had expressed some feelings of depression and anxiety, but no one knew the extent. Sadly they both died without fully expressing how much they were suffering, they suffered in silence. So for some, it’s the quiet that can be most dangerous.

It's about a dream about suicide and no one caring that she did it.
I don't realy like Billie, but that's just my opinion!
