Only the strikes with the mace to the torso and weapons are a little bit ineffective, but strikes to the head and waist are very effective. All in all very cool stuff. I like it! @@Callsign_Bear like the fallout games say "war. War never changes". By my knowledge of modern combat, and medieval combat, the only thing that has changed throughout history is the methods, tools, and tactics of war, the reasonings and the overall outcome stay the same.
It absolutely was. You could get PTSD from a medieval battlefield so much that the sound of a blacksmith working can end up triggering PTSD related anxieties and panics like how fireworks do to modern veterans.
Good reference for DMs that want to describe "misses" against characters with high AC. A lot of those hits probably connect, but just bounce off the armor or are deflected off. Sure to make the fighters and paladins glad they shelled out hundreds of gold pieces for heavy armor when they shrug off hits that would've killed them before!
@@interestingameplay yes and , I would personally go a bit further in a homebrew rpg have a number to connect period and another number to hit where the armor isn't. the first number can represent the characters ability to doge and parry and the second number can represent how much of the body is covered by the armor. Next assign a certain damage reduction for all sets of armor .finally give certain weapons like hammer and mace type things advantage on the damage roll against heavy armor and bladed weapons advantage on the damage roll to light armor or no armor.
Even took a few nasty hits from blunt weapons and staggered in appropriate fashion to really sell the effect that this was a real fight. And of course, the oh so satisfying ducking and weaving and treating the plate armor as actual armor, effortlessly taking slashing hits no problem and exploiting the smallest of gaps in the armor with piercing attacks. The cherry on top? The little hand waggle for the ineffectual punch that'd serve only to hurt one's hand even in armor~
I feel like I am watching an artist at work. Those precise stabs or cuts of a blade alongside efficient and brutal usage of blunt weaponry. Truly pleasant to the eye. Edit: I laughed hard at you casually trying to fit a dagger into poor lad's visor in 2:25

Slo-Mo is perfect honestly. If you go lower, and make sure you aren't messing with physics enough, you can speed it back up in post and make it realistic af
Indeed. Pretty much videogames make people think that plate armor was clumsy and could be penetrated, when in actuallity you were quite agile and pretty much inmune to hits (although you get dizzy by the blunt force that the armor doesn't absorb) unless it was in a gap.

@@tfan2222 There is a gorget there, it doesnt protrude but its still a gorget. Just look up types of gorgets, alot of them only cover just the base of the neck. I also never said that they have chainmail. I said that you could put chainmail underneath the helmet to cover the neck, in a form of a chain hood for example. Of course you can also have the chainmal attached like a mask.
As always, my favorite B&S youtuber never ceases to amaze. Real quick: What are your battle talent settings? I'd like to know. Keep up the good work, shed some more blood for us.
Thanks! I use mostly standard settings for Battle Talent with the following changes: -Movement: no swing -fov: 90 -cheat health, cheat mana, cheat durability, cheat slow motion: on
First time I've watched a vid that say's it's "realistic" and not had 1000 disagreements with the statement lmao. Well researched, lots of entertaining and accurate techniques in this! Would have known you'd been watching Dequietem without you saying it thanks to the pure disrespect you show for the mace as an anti-armour weapon in the first half lol.
How are your movements so amazingly smooth. I just got into VR and to me feels impossible lol. Especially in one of your videos where you're jumping and grabbing on to ledges effortlessly..great work. The videos are awesome.

As awesome as this was I doubt someone could manhandle someone in full plate which is realy heavy and throw them around but I do realize blade and sorcery has different physics
one of the issues i have with vr games is i never feel like my character is there theres always something missing. vr developers are too afraid to throw your character around an it really throws you out of the exp a punch to the head should force my face another direction i should get tackled to the ground an stuff like that enemies it feels like their attacking an iron golem when i fight them hence why i love cyberpunk 2077 vr mod feels better then 70% of the dedicated vr games around
I share your opinion but I see why they don't do it. It would be VERY disorienting for 95% of people. Spending resources catering to a feature only 5% people will use is unwise, considering the already small teams most VR game devs have.
i will never understand how people get this smooth combat. When ever i play they just run into me and fall down i cant even fight them since they are all up in my face
Keep in mind RUclipsrs edit the best clips together. He also uses slow-mo. Nothing wrong with either of these things! They make for a great viewing experience. But yeah your game play isn't gonna look like this 90% of the time. Also I know there are ai mods that help with some of the npc behavior. Not sure if he uses one.

Also, polearms like bec du corbins/ warpicks had beaks forged SPECIFICALLY to punch through armor.

The armor is missing a gorget i.e. neck protection. The neck wouldn't be exposed like that.
