If you put a canopy on F1 cars they are no longer open cockpit cars, F1 is an open cockpit, open wheel series.

The Romain Grosjean crash from 3years ago is the perfect example as to why F1 still has open cockpits. Even with all the safety measures put in place to ensure driver safety, not that driving at over 300km/h is safe, really bad accidents do still happen every now and again. The crash of Zhou comes to mind, probably one of the scariest crashes I have seen in F1.
