All these releases will sell out, of course, because as much as people complain about them they will ''have to have them''. I know, because I used to have a huge (and I do mean huge) Beatles/solo collection. Now, I couldn't even spare money for any of the 'Now And Then' releases. My heart bleeds for people who can afford to buy music, it really does.

100% Spot on Andrew, couldn't agree more. Wish that record companies would do some market research to see what people want. They sit in their silos thinking they know what everyone wants and the fact of the matter is, they are clueless.
I agree but Pul is the head of a record company. His hands are not clean with this. He has been heavily involved. I think we give him to much leanway if we choose to believe he isn't capable of engaging in manipualtive business practise. Paul is one hell of musician equalled only by his talents as a businessman.
I am sure Sir Paul could give his record company a boot up the arse. The fans will respond with glee if Paul takes the trouble to release what the fans really want.
Paul tells the record company what he wants to happen. Not the other way around. Paul wanted these releases. Yes he's that big and powerful.
Surely he has to "green light" releases...

Am i mistaken too in that Paul's store now seems to be based abroad in the Usa which means we are robbed postage wise every time we buy goods from the sites store.Bring back the Fun club based in Blighty which looked after Paul's fans properly and didnt rip us off
His shipping prices are high in the USA as well. $12 for this album to be shipped ground, the most inexpensive way to ship.

Zeppelin did something like this for “In Through The Out Door” That album first released with four different versions of the cover. You didn’t know which cover you were getting when you bought a copy.because they were all wrapped in brown paper
I really could smell your frustration but I really do agree with you. Record companies do the same with other artists too then people wonder why new releases don’t come out after.
I don’t know if they’re necessarily related but re-release Beatles in mono!
In addition to everything you mentioned, I would also be happy to see Archive editions of Choba and Unplugged. There's quite a bit of unreleased material from both those. It would also be nice to get some proper releases from the Ooobu Joobu radio show that was never aired anywhere else (mostly soundchecks and outtakes, but still nice). There's literally SO MUCH that can be put out, and we don't need re-releases of 3-year old albums.
It's very hard to believe that Macca isn't involved in this release, ha has full control of his releases so...Hooray for you Andrew

Collectively we, the fans have the power to stop these ridiculous releases by not buying them. Quite simple really, vote with your wallet!

I ended up getting the box set containing the 3 "McCartney" albums because I didn't have any of them on vinyl but again I thought at the time that not many collectors would need or be interested in that set, it wasn't even 1/2 speed mastered. Besides, I think anyone who loves McCartney III already own it at this point
I did not buy McCartney III for myself yet, because I was hoping for a release with all the bonus tracks on it. As that didn’t came, I forgot about getting the album.
I did buy a copy for someone else, with one of the bonus tracks. I think that was the red one?

Completely agree. One thing that is probably driving some of these decisions is what the record company has to invest up front. With a few exceptions, all of those projects that you listed that we all want, require a great deal of effort (money) to compile, remix, remaster, etc. The new McCartney III version would be pretty quick and easy to manufacture. So perhaps it's totally a short-term profit margin decision. Regardless, you are correct in that, it's sure not a decision based on what McCartney fans are wanting.

It is ridiculous. It’s on the same level of insult as that all things must pass edition that cost over a grand a couple years ago.
I’m especially staggered this release is coming from the McCartney camp, a man who when he was promoting Egypt Station he said he wanted to give people a reason to buy his record and parting with their hard earned money.

Totally agree with you Andrew. Having a selection of colours is fine if they are marked as such and browsable in a real shop, however just sending out a random set is just laziness by the record company. Not really what we wanted for Christmas at all!
Add the Unplugged re-release in vinyl to that list!

Saw the announcement of this earlyer, was surprised to see another McCartney 3. Would love have a vinyl reissue of Tripping the Live Fantastic as getting an original copy of that one isnt so easy anymore or an archive version like the Wings over America one wouldn't go unappreciated either.
I agree with everything you said! I was happy to get the standard CD release of McCartney III. I don’t need any other versions, especially if the content is identical to the original.
What WOULD be fantastic is if we got (Even though the tour has just recently finished so it would obviously take a bit) a Got Back concert DVD & CD like Good Evening New York City. The other thing that might be good is if they did something with Paul's classical stuff, cause that has been relatively untouched since it came out.
"Band on the run" re-issue: yes (though Archive releases of "London Town" and "Back to the egg" are what should be happening). This? No thanx, and I love "McCartney III". Your other suggestions of what should be released, I agree with. I'm not too upset personally but, yes, even as a Macca completist, this trifle I will not think twice about. Ps: I bought the "Flaming pie" big box and don't regret it at all. That still made some sense.

Speaking of which: Why wasn't there a remixed and remastered album "RINGO" by Ringo Starr this year after 50 years? Not only in my opinion the best album he ever made - on which you can also hear the other three Betales.
Absolutely spot on. Bonkers! And don't tell me Paul has no pull with his record company because I don't believe it.
To be honest I switched off the McCartney bandwagon a few years ago now. Frankly it is idiotic and makes no sense whatsoever. It treats his fans like cattle and I'm too long in the tooth to be herded in this fashion. The Beatles strictly avoided all of this nonsense. They did not treat their fans as cash-cows. Singles were not included on albums in the main because they respected those buying their records. They did not rip off their fans. Paul McCartney has been ripping off his fans for a while now and it does not sit well at all. I did not indulge in the ridiculous Egypt Station shenanigans and I am not doing so with this McCartney III fiasco either. To be honest the last two albums have had some of his weakest, and in some cases embarrassing, material on them. Not all, but Fuh You? Give me strength. Someone should have been hitting the quality control button on a few of these songs.
Sorry, back to your point. Your list is expansive and absolutely right on target. I could have added a few others if it were needed.
If this is a record company scam them he needs to start fighting back as it reflects extremely badly on him. The Lennon clan are doing some wonderful sets (shame about STINYC but hopefully it will appear at some point). The expanded sets have been well collated and the accompanying books, both in the sets and the self contained volumes, in-depth and and well documented. Did we need 80 singles in a box? No. Did we need all of the multiple variations of the last few albums in endless colours and configurations? No. Did we need the farcical big boxes with jigsaw puzzles and whatever? No.
Perhaps no-one has the bottle to question him. But they should. It is making him look foolish and I don't want that. I have always been, and always will be, a dedicated fan, but I have stopped buying this duplicated nonsense. It is unbecoming of an artist of his stature.

This strength of feeling needs to get back to him. Like you, I will buy the Band On The Run release because it has something new and is economically priced. The rest of the rubbish that is being shovelled out I will be avoiding like the plague.

I have to totally agree with the point about the quality of some recent releases, although of course, this is always going to be subjective. I personally haven't bought anything since Flaming Pie. This is not to say everything post 97 is rubbish (it isn't) but just nothing there that made me want to rush out and buy anything. Quality over quantity for me. Love the 70 -76 era. But, like I say, it's just a view.

Really well said Andrew. This is infuriating! It’s not been a week since we got the Band on the Run fairly underwhelming news. And since when is a 3rd anniversary a thing?!? And holding the buyer to live with wether or not they get the same colour variant?!?
Where are my Archive box sets?!? Oh, you don’t like London, Egg and Press that much? Well, maybe tell us that before we start collecting then!

It's similar to the Bee Gees archives. Fans have been asking for an official release of the shelved album from 1973 and a concert Blu-ray of the 1979 Spirits tour, but all we get is hits compilations over and over.

What about the Frog Chorus 10cd, 2 x dvd, 1xbluray, 500 page leather bound book which includes a piece of tartan that matches Rupert's outfit boxset? Give us what we want record company! Only joking but really McCartney 3 again is a no-goer. Well said Andrew.

Hi Andrew, nice to see Percy "Thrills" Thrilington LP on display behind you. It took me 43 years to get a copy (from Macca's online shop) as it had been deleted since circa 1977 & used copies were rare & out with what I could afford.
Re 3 re-release, presumably Macca signed- off on this, but I fully agree with you. Such a rip-off. Best wishes x

Sad to see you knocking a Paul McCartney release yet glad at the same time. It's unusual to hear you saying you're not buying something, hopefully most people will feel the same and the McCartney machine will learn something, maybe they would do well to actually ask fans what they would like and hopefully the forthcoming Band On The Run release will be a big success.
This is truly a baffling release. McCartney III is still readily available on his own site, including the "Imagined" release, in both black and coloured vinyl. I never bought McCartney III when it came out, so this release is tempting; I think I might purchase a different pressing of this album instead of this one, because the random aspect (and the idea of repressing it in the first place) is absurd.

Well said Andrew. A lot of people are annoyed with this, there's already 21 different vinyl versions of McCartney III on Discogs. Enough is enough. More than a few different variants was too much. I too am waiting for more archive releases or reissues of albums from the 90s and early 2000s.

Especially as this 2023 record is sure to sell out quickly and be offered on ebay (there is already one from Italy for EUR 99,00!!!) and discogs at ridiculous prices - and unfortunately will be bought. It's absolute madness. This is no longer about music, no longer about art, no longer about the record - but about what? Artificially creating demand, stimulating a sick buying process, evoking desire for something that is not needed - and that works in our rich world - it's really sick.
This is insane! Enough is enough!! If this isn’t a CASH GRAB what is??? The merchandise department has gone crazy!! It also makes McCatrney look bad!!

I did order a copy of the 3x3 Edition. But I see your point. I also really appreciate this video and you pointing out what us fans really want. You missed the colored vinyl reissues series that we haven’t seen since 2019. That’s a good one too. I’ll do an unboxing when I get my 3x3. Hoping for the splatter, but will be happy with any of the three.

Well I totally agree....I could also sense your anger....mind you I have ordered one just for the set....though by limiting purchases to just 2 unknowns, when there are three variants is definitely money grabbing because to get all three they want you buying more and more......wonder if his contract specifies that he needs to release a number of titles regardless of original release.....if so it’s a little better than a greatest hits. Who knows... hence the l ll lll box etc....love your vlogs!
I get the anger and confusion, but I have to say that I am one of those life-long fans that buys everything I can afford from Paul when it comes out. Unfortunately, I am a completest and I own every variant of McCartney III except the 333 edition. Since I have all of the others, my obsesive nature told me that I must purchase this new variant. I would like to see more rare or live archives released instead. 👍

Absolutely well said! Unfortunately these things keep getting released because people buy them. I'm not a vinyl collector any more and I was happy to buy the standard CD of McCartney III. Completely agree regarding the things people do want to buy and can only hope for everyone's sake that these latest editions don't sell, I think it's the only way they might get the message. Flaming Pie deluxe was way over the top for me and for the first time, I just bought the 2CD version. I can only hope the missing albums get released in more modest editions.
Is it the label or is it Paul? He must have the final say, since he licenses his material to the label. My gut feeling is that the album is so lousy that he (or the label) will keep flogging it to try and make it a success. I bought the CD when it came out, and that's it. Only played it twice.

Yes you're right. There will be. And that is given precedence over London Town etc... I still believe they may be forthcoming after a comment a week ago about an awful lot coming out in 2024 but this still smacks of incredible hubris and greed.

Hi Andrew , i forgot to say in my last message , there is a Paul McCartney special magazine issued by Recored collector magazine , it lists all his releases & including the different formats they have been issued in , it includes all releases up to McCartney 3 , but not McCartney 3x3 . It’s well worth getting ,I ordered mine from record collector website .
I am happy with release, everything about it has been about 3, 3rd in the series, 3 dice and now the 3rd anniversary. I don't think this stops anything from being released because there is only 3 days from anncoument and release. Unlike Band on The Run, where there are months. Personally, I don't think this that big of a deal.
Agreed this is messed up. There’s so many other things they can do. The worst thing like you said is the marketing. You can’t even tell which variant you will get. Lots of returns I’d imagine in people trying to get the one they need.

This time last year we were forking out £75 for 'The Lyrics' book set, now I read that it is to be released in paperback version with 5 additional new chapters !!!!! nice one Macca !!!!!!

Very well said! Wish we all had some influence on these weird and stupifying decisions...how can they leave so many albums and songs out of print. We know they're all remastered and ready, but instead of giving fans what they want (the ones from your list) they give us this pointless marketing gimmick that sadly some will fall for. I give up hope of ever getting a Press to Play archive edition now...
You are absolutely right. What gives me hope is the fact that several coloured vinyl albums from a few years back like Amoeba or New have been reduced in price recently. They dont seem to sell that well...
So True, I would love to see Back to the Egg/London Town plus Bonus out takes. 1967/70 was very strange having a song from 79:93:23 on it rather than a remixed version of the anthology series. Apple or universal are going a bits nuts lately. I bet the Rubber Soul LP with start with Paul singing it live in 2021. 😂🤣
To be honest, if people had refrained from buying all the different colours of vinyl when it came out, the record company would never have released this. And stop thinking that Paul McCartney is not behind it. Of course he is. Of all artists, he's definitely one who could stop the record company releasing that kind of thing if he wanted to! He signed with them after all and knew what he was in for... This kind of scenario would not happen if fans stopped gobbling willy nilly all that marketing shite.
Too right, Andrew. We’re already getting yet another variant of Band on the Run, which I suspect I’d listen to once, then never again. I have ONE copy of McCartney III and that’s enough, thank you. Definitely agree we need the archive versions of the others (well, maybe not so much Off the Ground, LOL… that can wait)
