I wish someone had made a chess set, whether from plastic or from wood, which has magnets either in the board or in the pieces which cause each piece to line up exactly on center of the square. Yes, I understand it is probably only for OCD people, but IMO it could be such help for those of us who always have to center pieces.
That's a nice set. I have two questions. Is it true that this is also called the reykjavik chess set? And in which web did you buy it? thanks and good review
Yes that is true. There are two different types of Reykjaviks chess set designs. This one is generally called "1972 Fischer Spassky" style and it features the detailed knight and the pieces are mostly slimmer with wider bases. I got this one at House of Staunton's website. However, the standard "Reykjaviks Series" pieces are thicker in both body and base width and features a basic knight design. Most people go with the Standard Style. Cheaper and overall thicker pieces. Chessbazaar has both versions on their website. I hope this helps :)
@@77MrCrazyGames77 Will do. We will also feature the standard "Reykjaviks" and do a comparison between the two. Probably by next month or two. I have a lot of sets to show aha
ruclips.net/video/vf48WzimOxQ/видео.html "going back with the knight is a losing move"? Um.....there are many famous games where expert players go back with the knight. There are many possible reasons to make a move with the knight in backward direction. In this video specifically it was probably a bad move as it blocked other pieces. It was too early. But for example if your pieces are already developed enough that the knight does not block them it could free a path for the pawn or for some other piece to move back. Sometimes you can move the knight to the original rank (closest to player) to move it faster to the left or the right of the board.
Nice! How are you liking it? I just checked and you're right, the link is dead. I tried looking for it on the main chess shops and nothing :( Seems it's sold out everywhere. I'll keep checking and get back to you
@@cyborgdokey2650 Loving it so far! My first proper set, so it's a real pleasure. I heard back from Wholesale Chess and it has been discontinued, such a bummer! I absolutely love that board.
@@VanFaux Great choice for a first set! Just note that other 3.75 wood sets might feel a little bit lighter lol Oh damn that sucks and I've checked for other folding boards and they're not the same :( You could try going for magnetic boards?
@@losangeleschessfortress6753 what are the dimensions of the board you are using in the game? Just ordered this same chess set (the elite series?) and I’m excited to get it and start my journey into chess. Thanks for the cool video.
@@Takemura76 Interesting. I never heard of the elite series so I'll look into it. Sounds interesting. For the dimensions, I would get them tomorrow. I don't have my measuring tool at the moment. Will get one tomorrow and get back to you.
Imo ebonized is not bad at all. It is not as if the paint falls off the pieces. Also some people do like seeing the black paint get thinner , if you play with the same set for years, so that you see spots which look almost dark red where the finger touch it. It shows the pieces' natural age. But that means really playing it regularly.
I'm currently looking at getting myself a decent set and I think this is it.
go for it bro
I really like this set, simple, elegant! nice video!
TY!

LMAO What would Bobby Fischer do? He'd complain about the lighting and leave the game.
He'll complain about the pieces being too heavy or the crack in the middle of the folding board lol
Hahaha. Great video. Bangladesh chess players are so funny. Funny accents.
Just me or do the pawns look tinier than a hobbit’s toe?
