- In "Her Smell," written and directed by Alex Ross Perry, Becky Something (Elisabeth Moss) is a '90s punk rock superstar who once filled arenas with her grungy all-female trio Something She. Now she plays smaller venues while grappling with motherhood, exhausted bandmates, nervous record company executives and a new generation of rising talent eager to usurp her stardom. Forced to get sober, temper her demons and reckon with the past, she retreats from the spotlight and tries to recapture the creative inspiration that led her band to success. BUILD hosted Moss, Perry, Agyness Deyn and Gayle Rankin as they come to discuss the film.

The title of the movie stinks.
Jeff, I think he got the title "Her Smell" from an old Greek myth about Aphrodite who put a curse on her female worshipers for not being reverent enough. She made them smell bad so their husbands would not have sex with. Ha! Tough, and maybe does not connect, just my thought. And you are right. It stinks! Just like the old song "Love Stinks!' Waddya think? Too far a stretch? Ha LOL

The entire cast was such a strong back up it almost doesnt matter how you feel about the movie the performances just take you to another mind zone
Where did Alex Ross Perry come up with the title of "Her Smell" ? He wrote the story. Anything to do with Aphrodite curse on her female worshipers on the island of Lemnos. They were almost all women in the film. Just curious. Any one have ideas? Am in a course in school right now called "Exploring Aphrodite" and are digging deep on Greek myth and Aphrodite. She put a curse on her women worshipers who were not loyal enough -- by making them smell so bad that their husbands wouldn't have sexual relations with them -- pretty harsh. Maybe no connection. its a shot in the dark, just curious.
