    I tried Sling and liked it overall.
    The combined Blue and Orange plans at $50.00 is still a good deal, IF local channels aren't an issue for you.
    The base DVR with 50 hours is still better than the Hulu DVR which won't let you ffwd through commercials.
    For $5.00 more, in stead of $9.99 like Hulu charges you get the same 200 hours.
    I personally liked the old UI better than what I have seen about this new one.
    The thing that makes Sling a good service is how customizable it is.
    I don't agree that it's a bad service, even though it's not right for me.
    If you want more channels, then be prepared to pay more.
    It's just that simple folks. :-)

    Did you know that If you got an AirTV anywhere device from Sling TV, and also pay for the Sling Orange+Blue plan, you can get up to 8 simultaneous streams. One stream is allowed for Sling Orange channels, 3 streams for Sling Blue channels, and 4 streams for local broadcast TV stations coming from the AirTV. With 8 streams, you could be streaming ESPN on the living room TV, Bravo on the bedroom TV, Cartoon Network on the basement TV, TBS on the kitchen TV, and your local NBC station on the patio TV. That's because all 5 networks are in Sling Orange, Sling Blue, and the AirTV device, and it's and 8 stream service

    1. Sling Orange has all the channels I watch.

    I used Sling TV for College football at the end of 2020 and will never do it again. As if the one stream on ESPN wasn't bad enough, I would be watching a football game and a Sling owned commercial break would pop in during the 4th quarter, (not a normal break). After the break, it would start up midway through the 3rd quarter. Well now,I'm watching a game 15 minutes behind the actual game time. And to make matters worse, they stop the stream once the live game is over, but I am in the middle of the 4th quarter. I just missed the end of the game!

    Sling was the first cord cutting streaming service I had. It got me use to not having all the channels that came with my cable service. Turns out I didn’t miss them. I used sling with locast and a DVR service that integrated all together.
    I’m now with RUclips tv, mainly because locast doesn’t exist anymore. I’m now paying about the same with youtubetv as I was with sling, locast and the DVR service, and I’m getting more channels. Slings tv everywhere is also severely lacking

    I will give you a VERY specific reason for Sling Orange. I'm a hockey fan. I get ESPN plus for out of market games. I had to pay Ballys to get my Dallas Stars but lost the ability to see the NHL after round two of the playoffs. All the games were on ESPN (not plus) or TNT and TBS. Sling Orange is the cheapest way to get most games (unless they are on the NHL channel). The Stanley Cup was on TNT.

      Sling Blue would be *great* for your needs! One other option for cable news is Sirius XM. You can't watch it, but you can listen to the major cable news networks. Am currently using YTTV, and am loving it, but I think Sling would be perfect and of course, cost less. I already have 60 channels of OTATV to use, and an AirTV2. All I would need is Sling or maybe Philo/Frndly for any other channels that are not included with my OTA entries. Sling is especially useful because it places all the OTA and Sling channels in one view, which in my opinion is ideal.

    I'm another Sling user. I Have Sling Blue, mainly for NASCAR on Fox Sports 1 and NBC Sports Network. I also watch Fox News occasionally. I get my local channels from an OTA antenna and mainly use them for local news and the NASCAR races on the broadcast Fox and NBC stations so I don't need a DVR for locals. I have two Roku TVs so it's easy to switch from streaming to OTA. I was grandfathered in to the $30 a month plan until I paused my service at the end of the 2020 NASCAR season. When I started up again, I started paying $35 a month, which is still reasonable for me.

    I don’t like Sling mostly because it’s sort of like buying a car. Sure the advertised price of that car might be super low but once you add the things you want or need and move up a trim or two you’ve just tacked on another 6 or 7k.
    Sure you can save money with Sling but by the time you add everything up so that everyone in the house is happy you are paying as much as RUclips TV and that’s assuming you can use an antenna to get your locals. If you can’t then you have to get another streaming service to cover those shows so it cost more than YTTV. The simple fact is Sling knows that the overwhelming majority of people are not going to stick with the lowest cost plans which is the EXACT same reason why you will rarely see a base model trim at a auto dealership.

    • @MichaelSaves
      @MichaelSaves 2 года назад

      I think this is all very true. A lot of people tell me they only "need" 3-5 channels, so if those channels are in either base plan -- they should be fine. In reality, I think most households who still want a live TV service have 10-15 channels they "need" and that's when RUclips TV makes more sense.

    I have Sling on my firestick with a vpn when I was using Locast. If I put Sling on my Smart tv to get a better pic quality, will that make my isp ( Spectrum) slow my internet speed?

    • @spaceghost4474
      @spaceghost4474 2 года назад +2

      It SHOULDN'T, because your smart tv probably streams at approximately the same speed as your device ( around 90-100 mbs ).
      However, if you stream 4k content your data usage WILL increase substantially.
      If you are on a plan with a data cap, you might run into that issue.
      I've found that a 100mbs unlimited plan works just fine, and you can stream all the 4k you want.
      Do some research on your provider though.
      I use X-finity 100mbs UNLIMITED and have had no problems.
      I constantly get 110-115 mbs download speeds, which is more than enough to stream anything that you watch.
      The only things that may effect your speed is the number of devices using your internet at the same time, or possibly a very high amount of people using your internet provider at the same time, but that shouldn't be prohibitive enough to interfere with your streaming ability.
      Hope that helps 🙂👻

Directv TV has always been the bleeding edge tech Video service with the best picture quality... and now since its away from ATT TV they can concentrate on the Direct TV Stream part of things to have a great service as well with the unlimited DVR service like YTTV. the 20 in home streams makes it very appealing as well, YTTV also offers that as well now but for a extra 20.00... I dont care about penny pinching streaming i want the best experience possible. Direct TV Stream for me.
